Graham Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Yamato told me that they have a new TV advertisment that aires at around 3am on Thursday morning and shows the new 1/60 YF-21. Any of our Japan-based members want to see if they can make a copy? Graham Quote
charger69 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 (edited) Cool news!! I feel like I'm in 80s again Edited November 12, 2007 by charger69 Quote
Ghadrack Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I wonder if they will post the spot on their website. Maybe someone will throw it up on Youtube. Got any idea whish station it will be on? Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Wow, thanks!!!! That means we might finally see the prototype after this thursday Quote
Dante74 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Wow! Great news, thanks Graham! So maybe this time next week they'll have some pics up on their site? Quote
charger69 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I don't think that they will advertise a prototype. We will see the final product on thursday! Quote
chowyunskinny Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Whoa, nice! Have they done TV ads for previous releases Graham? If so, any way to get those from Yamato and post them? I wonder if they are composed of cool stop motion transformations and kids with bowl haircuts Quote
Lonewolf Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 That's great new Graham. Here's hoping someone tapes it and post it here. Quote
Ivan Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Great news! But why 3 am??? Cheapest time slot they could get? Or because most macross fans are night owls? Quote
Fai Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Great news! But why 3 am??? Cheapest time slot they could get? Or because most macross fans are night owls? I am guessing Both? Macross fans will wait up to watch it, no matter what time it is, so might as well air it at the cheapest timeslot? Would be great if someone can post it here or perhaps a Youtube link Quote
UN Spacy Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Awesome news Graham. Here's hoping it's better than their old 1/60 commercials. I keeeeeeeeed. I keeeeeeeeeeeeeeed. Quote
Ivan Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Should be airing now. Anyone seen it yet? Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Should be airing now. Anyone seen it yet? G-man said thursday not tuesday Patience Quote

do not disturb Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 whoever sees it, make sure to record it and put it up on youtube. Quote
VFTF1 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 What!? The YF-21?! On TV!? 1/60 version?! This news sucks Graham! I cringe at the thought of thursday and can't wait until the entire sordid ordeal has passed! I just hope no one throws it on YouTube - some things deserve to be forgotten. VFTF1 (Note: This message is meant to be contrarian...er...spelling?...contraryan...um...oh...you know - the opposite of all you guys ... I just got really giggly what with every post being "great!" ...) In all seriousness - I just can't see how you can make a 1/60 TV commercial... I mean - are you going to have some kid quick-change the YF-21 to fight the 19? The darned thing is most likely radically complex .... so what gives? I guess I'm flashing back to the vision of the green eyed TF fanatic who's head turns into Ultra Magnus ... and this is crossing with visions of little kids reaking utter havoc on 1/60 21s by trying to transform them quickly...in tune with music... DUMDADA DA DUM! The YF-21 sooooaaaRRRRzzz!! into action! Kapow! Blamo! (Picture a kid with the 21 in hand running round going "pppkksshooooo!!!!!") "Way-ef-nineteeno Tuuuansofoma!" (Picture kid trying to crack the thing apart and convert it quickly).... and the 21 falls to pieces while action music plays all along... hmm... and to think that I'm SOBER today :-) VFTF1 Quote
Jeremy007 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 hey...those old 80's transformer ads were awesome Quote
SuperHobo Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 hey...those old 80's transformer ads were awesome Indeed those old Transformer commercials were cool. However this new commercial with the YF-21, at least in my honest opinion isn't going to have some sugar high child recking havoc upon the 21, but rather a more professional way of showing this masterpiece off. Its just a thought, but I believe it could be more like a car-ad or possibly a photo shopped stop image clip show with each transformed mode shown and Japanese characters at the bottom explaining price and features. Either way this sounds interesting. Hopefully if the price is mentioned it will be below the $150.00 dollar mark. It probably won't, but one can dream right? Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 3am?!?! it's not enough that Yamato takes away all my money! they're taking my sleep too'!??! !! hehehe...kidding, looking forward to it, thanks for the news G-man Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 So this finally explains why Yamato has been so secretive about the 21: They were making a damn commercial. Well, the caps of the toy surely will be poor, but after the airing nothing stops Yamato from publishing the pics on their own website. THAT's good news Quote
miriya Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I need to get a new job soon. 2008 is already looking really expensive. Quote
CF18 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 There is a flash version of the video here: http://www.toyskingdom.com.hk/ They also have rumor about these: After April: 1:60 VF-11B Feb: (collectible figures) 1:200 Macross Variable Fighter Collection, 9 normal + 3sp 1st wave is VF-1J, YF-19, VA-6, 3 mode for each. http://www.toyskingdom.com.hk/forum/viewth...;extra=page%3D1 Quote
misterryno Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 hey...those old 80's transformer ads were awesome Helllllllllllllllllllllllll YEAH!!!! <-------can I say that? Quote
GGemini Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 1:200 Macross Variable Fighter Collection??????????? I reeaaaaalllyyyy hope this is the series I've been waiting for, a SAME SCALE series with all available fighters! (that is, if there are no removable parts of course ) Quote
eugimon Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) holy crap, it looks AWESOME! I can't wait. It looks so nice and sleek and just from the quick glimpses, it looks like the fit of the parts is much tighter than on the yf-19. Hey Graham, now that the cat is out of the bag, can we start seeing some pics of this thing now? Edited November 13, 2007 by eugimon Quote
Renato Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 The ad is on during the re-run of SDF Macross. It's not too bad. Also you get a glimpse of both the tan and Nora SV-51 at the end. I remember the old ads Yamato used to show last time SDF Macross was shown on TV, back in 2001 or 2002. At the time they advertised the 1/72 VF-11C and the 1/60 VF-1A. Some people on here said the 11C ad was cheesy cos it showed stop-motion animation over a background of New Edwards base, but I liked it and the Macross Plus music was used to good effect. I think you can find them on the 20th anniversary DVD but I haven't seen them on Youtube. Quote

I reeaaaaalllyyyy hope this is the series I've been waiting for, a SAME SCALE series with all available fighters! (that is, if there are no removable parts of course ) Yes, this is pretty exciting... if they are truly transformable. I don't see how that YF-19 is going to work at that scale, though. Ah well, I'll get them anyway, where else can you get a VA-3? EDIT -- I just re-read the post and did the maths. 9 figures in the first wave -- three valks, three modes for each. That means we're talking non-transformable figures. Aw. So much for that. Edited November 13, 2007 by Renato Quote
CF18 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Come on at that scale non-transforming is better looking anyway. Have we seen any < 1:144 valks that is any good at transforming? Quote
eugimon Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 seriously? we just got a look at the 1/60 yf-21, in all three modes, in color no less and you guys are talking about a rumored 1/200th scale series of non transforming valks? Quote
SuperHobo Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Cool the YF-21 is nice and blue and so sleek and sexy. I'm in love. I really hope this one comes with the gunpods and Yamato to throw in the fast packs too Its time to start saving again. Quote
UN Spacy Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I just creamed my pants! Does this mean prototype pictures are coming later this week? C'mon Graham. Quote
Dobber Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Wow, it looks really nice!!! I hope the rumor is true about the VF-11 in or after April!! Chris Quote
