The key animator whose mecha sequences are so good, is Anno Hideaki, later to become one of Gainax's top men. Batou's Tachikoma (with the antenna and missle launcher) worked at a retirement home taking care of the elderly 2. The second Tachikoma did construction bot (hence all the yellow and black markings) 3.
