yellowlightman Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 A popular anime hero who makes a brief cameo in the Fist of the North Star movie of 1986. Sounds like you got us all stumped. Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Sounds like you got us all stumped. Well, I'd hate to kill a thread, so here's another question: Bean Bandit's custom made car, the Bean Bandit Special, is also known as "_____" . Quote
yellowlightman Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Isn't a Shelby Cobra is it? Can't remember if that was Rally's or his... Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Isn't a Shelby Cobra is it? Can't remember if that was Rally's or his... Not the Shelby, but the red car he drives in Riding Bean. Oh yeah, "Roadbuster" is not the answer I'm looking for . Quote
Yohsho Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Puts up hand. Is it a 1970's Chevrolet Corvette Stingray w/ 454ci V8 Quote
bsu legato Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Not the Shelby, but the red car he drives in Riding Bean. Oh yeah, "Roadbuster" is not the answer I'm looking for . Wasn't it the "Buff"...named after the Cape Buffalo? Quote
EXO Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 I give up... did Yosho get it? lol, how'd this turn into the Sonoda trivia thread??? Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 (drumroll) and the winner is: bsu legato! C'mon down and grab your can of squid! It's all you, bsu. Quote
Anubis Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 (edited) Roadbuster is all I can think of. Looks like stumper. Who owns the DVD anyway? Edited October 24, 2003 by Anubis Quote

Ok, I doubt I can come up with something obscure enough to stump you guys, but here it goes..... What caliber were Meryl Stryfe's derringers in Trigun? (yes, there actually is a right answer) Quote
bsu legato Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 I can get more specific? Well, the Trigun Roman Album lists it as a .22 magnum, but I'll let you have this one. Your turn. Quote
Yohsho Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 (edited) Score! Thank you very much. 1 for 3 so far... Name the brand of rims on Miyuki's police car. (You're Under Arrest!) Edited October 24, 2003 by Yohsho Quote

JELEINEN Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 What anime TV series includes an episode that specifically references Tom Godwin's famous short story The Cold Equations? Quote
JELEINEN Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 Hmm... Was that one too tough? I can do another. Quote
areaseven Posted October 25, 2003 Author Posted October 25, 2003 (edited) Rule change: The time limit for every question is 24 hours. If the question remains unanswered after the 24-hour limit, the person will reveal the answer and post another question. If the question is not changed within 48 hours, the thread is open to anyone else. Edited May 11, 2007 by areaseven Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 Rule change: The time limit for every question is two hours. If the question remains unanswered after the two-hour limit, the person will reveal the answer and post another question. I have a small problem with that actually; I live on the other side of the Atlantic and theres about 8 or 9 hours time difference. For example, I knew the answer to the Bubblegum Crisis "Replicants" question, but by the time I got to my PC and was able to answer it already had been several times over. Also, 2 hours seems a bit tight; surely not every MW'er sits in front of their PC all day?! Quote
JELEINEN Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 (edited) The answer is Martian Successor Nadesco (Kidou Senkan Nadeshiko). Attempt #2: After leaving the Soyokaze in The Irresponsable Captain Tyler episode 26, the crew found different jobs. What job did Andresson, the drop ship pilot, find? Thanks! And that Captain Tylor question - I should know that, but I can't even remember what the guy looked like - why couldn't you have picked an easy lone like what the navigators real job is...?! Noriko Takaya Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Hmmm....Who's theory of physics is the Gunbuster OVA based on? (hint: Kazumi Amano's speech during the 2021 Japan High School Physics Debate Convention.) The name Tannhauser as referring to the term Tannhauser's Gate in the Gunbuster Science Lessons is also a Blade Runner based reference made by Roy Batty just before he died at the end of the movie. And I quote: "I've watched sea beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate..." Also, just for general information, there seem to be three American films which seem to be prevalently influent in anime, especially during the 80's and early 90's. They are: Blade Runner Alien Raiders of the Lost Ark Quote
JELEINEN Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 The answer to attempt #2 was nude model. Attempt #3: Name four anime shows/movies that reference either Colonel Sanders or KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken). Quote
