I was going down memory lane. In other words reading some of the google archive posts from alt.fan Macross. I can't believe it has been 6 years since I started posting there. Some post go back even longer. When Macross World forums started I think half of us were from there. So, class reuion time who here besides me use to be from Alt. Fan Macross?

I don't like looking at those old posts. It's embarrasing to see myself defending Harmony Gold. Looking back on it, I really can't figure out what I was thinking. It wasn't in line with any of my beliefs about anime.

7 years? I remember posting at AFM nearly 10 years ago! (ok, maybe 9). I've calmed down a bit since then though, beware anyone who posted fanfics or HG crap though, because I would jump all over them. And then of course there was the great betrayal of George Sohn...soo many memories

I think it actually took me a year or so after MW went up to finall come over, and by that time AFM dwindled down to 3 or 4 regular posters, i.e. it was dead. And I may be remembering this wrong, but isn't Duke Togo "The Cat"?

Man, I must have come to Macross World immediately after it got started. I missed Alt Fan Macross thing, but I was a freshman or sophomore in college when I started posting, and I graduated over 5 years ago.

I've calmed down a bit since then though, beware anyone who posted fanfics or HG crap though, because I would jump all over them.

I remember you doing stuff like that, so you must have brought some of that to Macross World. I think we've all mellowed out since then... I think our souls are all a little crushed from all the childhood raping we've endured in the 21st century.

It has an epic feel to it that Macross lacks. Macross II was a

joke (so how did the SDF-1 bridge float there? Magic?). Macross Plus

rules, I loved that. Haven't seen Mac7, but I've never been much for the

premise. Silly. Make a good kids show though. I really like DYRL's

animation, but I just didn't like the Macross characters as much in it

(Roy a male pig, Misa seemed weak, Exedore....oh, what the hell happened

to him?). Cool animation...too many cultural differences to be enjoyable

for most people. I liked it though.

As for Minmei, the Robotech version is annoying (at least

"Stagefright" was...mostly because they played it WAY too much). The

other songs didn't sound that bad. The Macross Minmei had some good ones

as well, but as a rule I'm just not a fan of J-Pop. It's kinda annoying

too at times.

There's also a thing called nettiquette(sp?) were you don't go

It would've been discovered, yeah. But your forgetting that alot

of people who were kids at the time would've missed out on Anime AND the

whole genre would probably be even a bigger niche that it still is now.

Facts are facts, Robotech got alot of people interested in other

(sometimes better) anime. Without it, I would've never bothered to

explore it further and discover other, better shows. I'd just be another

moron in America who thought animation was a kids only medium.

that were all over the place a few years ago. What he's trying to say in

a nutshell is "Can't we all coexist without killing each other". My god,

Macross and Robotech Macross are both enjoyable. Some people like one

over the other. I'm not going to flame you because you're passionate

about Macross. I do think you're being inconsiderate to Robotech

(Macross) fans.

People here aren't trying to censor anything. If you want to talk

Macross, there's alt.fan.macross I believe. No one here wants to get

flamed for defending Robotech. Face it, we're not going to convince you

that Robotech Macross is better than Macross and you're not going to

convince any of us that Macross is better than Robotech Macross.

Where you going by "Roy Focker" on AFM back then or something else?

I started lurking on AFM during the summer or fall of 2000. The day after Thanksgiving 2000 I decided to create a Deja account so I could start posting on AFM and other newsgroups (this was right before Deja was swallowed up by Google). It was at that time that I chose "Apollo Leader" as my alias; it's funny how I use that name pretty much anywhere online to this very day. So just as I started to post on AFM, less then two weeks later Shawn launched the Macross World Forums. I continued to post to AFM on and off after that point, but I think my involvement with AFM ended completely by 2002.

A few people I've know on here for much longer though. Keith I originally met during the last few months of 1999; we were both subscribed to Animeigo's Talk mailing list. I've been a customer of the Valkyrie Exchange since late 1999 so I've known Kevin Lam for that long too.

Hard to believe it's been 8 years already since the announcement of Animeigo's Macross DVD boxset and Toycom/Yamato's Macross Plus toys and that I've known some of you guys for that long.

Being a regular in the Yankees newsgroup meant I dealt with alot of trolls, which lead to a: having a really bad attitude on the usenet, and b: changing my name periodically to lessen the general harassment and outright stalking you'd receive for being a ASBNYY regular. I've had certain posters in my killfile for almost a decade now.

1) I am a MACROSS Fan, been one since 1982! Peter Walker is not my 'God'. I go

Hi, sorry for bumping a year old thread, but my quest of the weekend was to relive the old AFM roots. Name's Jeff. Last name Jhee. Some of you might recall me. Hadn't done anything anime related in about 5 years until I started watching again this past year, including the highly entertaining Frontier. Reminded me of the good old days, and man, they were really good. Probably don't have the time and energy to be such the fanatic that I once was, but this weekend I wanted to experience the good old days. You know, when the Zentradi's leader was officially named Gorg Bodolzaa, as opposed to what it is now. Isn't the funny, you go away for five years, and a fictional character's official spelling of his name changes?
