I was looking for this thread, but I guess since it hasn't been posted to lately, it disappeared. So, when is it due out, and will the Ghost that comes with the combo be the same as the new standalone Ghost that is due out soon, too?

October and yes from what I understand.

I'm confused. I see these all over the place and I have one on the way. Is there a re-issue?

He's talking (I assume) about the Roy that comes just like Shin's, prepackaged with a Ghost.

Those have been available for a long time also???? I just got one from these guys:

Note in the link:

You are bidding on Yamato Macross 1/60 VF-0S Kudo Shin with QF-2200D-B Ghost Booster. It is a pre-order."

So yes, you can preorder one, but no, it's not out and probably won't be for at least a few weeks. That person you bought from apparently is using the same preorder template from Shin with new VF-0S pics.

Awesome!

See iof they fixed the loose arms and the feet!!!

this question falls into the catagory of unanswered questions that have been asked way too many times.

basically its one of those question we'll never get a straight answer to.

It drives me nuts not to have this one yet but the problems are too big overlook. I am really hoping that this release they have addressed them so I can finally order it but until I hear word from people who actually receive it I am holding off. Finally getting caught up on 1/48 with this money so it's all good.

just curious as to why you(or anyone for that matter) would buy it, with no knowledge of the problems being fixed?

I have not had any issues with my VF-0A and VF-0S. Maybe I just got lucky? I only transform things once and display them though. And my living has me manipulating incredibly small and complicated (and expensive) suspension components so I have a pretty good touch when it comes to handling things. My buddy who is a surgeon watches me work trackside sometimes and is impressed with the dexterity required to perform some operations. I'm not trying to sound like an arrogant a$$, I have just been doing it a long time.

And if it's screwed up I'll just fix it. That kind of thing doesn't bother me much for some strange reason

i find now that we know the shoulders are weak, and we know to loosen them a bit, and Yamato has claimed to have done something (don't know what) to improve them, we can buy these *if we're planning on using them for display more than play*.

i disagree. Notcie i didnt mentiopn the shoulders; I asked if the 0A fixs had been done to it. i havent had the shoulders give out on Shin,. nor do they seem be about too. A lot of people in the poll said they'd broken, but then several described it as Stress mareks which they considered the same thing. So Im not worried about the shoulders; Im wondering if the feet will lock when extanded and the arms will be tight enough to pose. If they are, Ill get mine straight away :)

i don't play with my toys much either, like you, i just display them and ooo and ahhh a lot.

i don't mind fixing stuff, i rather enjoy it but it seems a bit ridiculous to pay full price for something that is known to have problems. you're certainly not going to pay for a new car with problems and justify it because you can fix it yourself, same goes for these or any other luxury item.

anyway, i just wish we got a straight answer cause i've been holding off in buying this since the day it came out.

The list of improvements to the arms has been well documented already. To recap for those of you who were napping: -

1) The ABS in the bicep and shoulder area has been changed to a harder ABS.

2) The PVC parts that were causing chemical weakening of the ABS have been removed from the shoulders and biceps and replaced with SBS rubber (the same type of rubber used in sneaker soles). SBS does not react negatively with ABS.

The Roy VF-0S with Ghost combo will be the first VF-0 toy where the whole run will have these improved arms.

I have one of the original Vf-0S that were released with the floppy arm problem. Mine didn't have any shoulder problems. I bought the replacement arms that HLJ was selling and they fixed the loose arm problem. So I would assume that the VF-0S combo would have atleast the loose arm problem resolved. I wish Yamato would space their toy releases a little better. This has been one expensive toy month across the board.

Well I think therein lied the confusion. It seemed the Shin 0A would have the fixes.

Hmm... I don't really want a Ghost, but want an improved Roy 0S. And would like TWO 0A (to match my Low-Viz), but only improved.... again sans Ghost.

From what Graham just said, maybe SOME ofn the shins were fixed? Could explain why mine seems perfectly fine while others werent....

So hopefully it'll have ighter arms and the proper feet extension. Then It'll be mine :)

This is where you are dead wrong. Aside from collecting toys I have a very fast car and I race motorcycles, specifically Ducati's. You should hang out on those boards!

The Ducati's are famous for having production/design issues and we are talking about a bike that can cost anywhere between $10,000 and $65,000! I'm not talking about little things either, stalling problems, rocker arm flaking issues, burnt carbon fiber ($$$$) fairings from the exhaust, etc.

The new Mustangs are the same way. Clunking front suspension, rattles in the interior, broken driveshafts, gear whine from the rear end, etc, etc, etc

How about Ferrari's? These things are in service constantly. There are even some parts that the buyer knows they will need to fix the day they drive it off the floor.

Hell, I just got a new Ducati 1098 last week and my first order of business is to strip it down to the frame and then rebuild it so I know that it's right. I am an extreme case because I use my bikes at the track only, but I wouldn't do this to a Honda and it costs half the money.

The above are all examples of items sold at a premium price with known problems they day they are sold. And they sell like hotcakes and the buyers just deal with it.

There are products the world over that should be perfect but aren't. It's not just Yamato toys. I think you will find this trend on most low production specialty items. I'm not saying its right; I'm just saying it "is".

If you choose not to buy something because it's not perfect it's completely understandable. But if you have the personality that craves things that are "special" or "different" (I do). I'm afraid that you have firmly placed yourself in a market segment that is more likely to have shortcomings than not :(

So what should i keep an eye on if my shin is one of those that weren't fixed?

This is really pathetic you know. F'n Yamato!

I have done about 3 transformation cycles, and no stress marks... so what?

Aint this the truth. As much as I gripe about yamato's QC it is everywhere and a fact of life. I do beleave that yamato could do a little more QC testing before they release an item, but this wont help if the supplied plastic and such have the flaw after testing is done and production starts. But as sqidd stated I also desire special items in my collection so I will continue to buy them and enjoy them. I'll have a little rant every now and then but thats human nature IMO. :)

I agree, the rant is most certainly warranted. It's all part of the process :)

Actually, it's what they made the internet for isn't it? Well, that and porn anyway. :p

There's porn on the internet?

So I've heard. I've never seen any myself but I do sometimes get e-mails from complete strangers offering certain medicine and pumps and stuff. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll forward some of them to you.

I will wait till I hear from those who get one. If the broken back/floppy fuselage issue in fighter mode with the first release of the VF-0S has been fixed, then I will pick this one up.

Hmm... wonder if it's possible for me to find one of these "fixed" Shin's...
