Roger Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Does anyone have any line art or screen captures of the civilian Destroids from Macross 7? You know, the episode where Mayor Miriya encouraged the mecha-owning citizens to parade them through town. I also seem to remember a two-page spread from one of the Macross 7 books that showed all of them in a group shot. Anyway, if anyone could please post images of these, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Quote
mikeszekely Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Well, the stats and junk are from a role-playing site, but they credit the images to Nanashi, so they should be official. Ground police destroid. Helicopter-looking destroid. Space patrold destroid. Quote
Roger Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 Thanks. Can someone also please provide images of the Tomahawk, Phalanx, Spartan, Defender, and Monster that were shown? Quote
mikeszekely Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 As far as I know, they're the same as the ones in SDF Macross. You can check them out at Mr March's Macross Mecha Manual. Quote
Roger Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 I seem to remember that they were different colors and some of the weapons were replaced with construction stuff. I could be misremembering, though. Perhaps it was just the book or magazine spread I'm remembering. Quote
Mr March Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 (edited) No, your memory is good. These Destroids and Valkyries are official variants seen in the Macross 7 anime. Episode 15 to be exact. Sadly I don't have any other reference than that. Edited September 18, 2007 by Mr March Quote
Graham Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I might have some pics, but need to search through my old B-Clubs. Graham Quote
wolframbane Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 There was an image at this former rpg site. I found the archived site but the image is gone. http://web.archive.org/web/20040317174804/...troids.html.htm Quote
1st Border Red Devil Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. There is a Space Helicopter in Macross 7, the only difference being the switch out of rotors for booster pods? Quote
Phyrox Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. There is a Space Helicopter in Macross 7, the only difference being the switch out of rotors for booster pods? Well then...it isn't really a space helicopter is it? Quote

RosarioLuv Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Here's are some from episode 15. I LOVE that episode. Especially later (I think the same episode) when Milia flies in with her beautiful red VF-1J. I may be wrong, but I think that may be the only post SDFMacross series that feature old skool mecha (besides the VF-1 victim in MacPlus). I could be wrong though. (and I'm not counting the modified space whaling Ostrich and other VF's in Mac7 Dynamite. Quote
Roger Posted September 19, 2007 Author Posted September 19, 2007 VF5SS, thanks mucho for the screen caps. I didn't remember there being so many of them. If anyone comes across that book/magazine scan one day, please post it. Quote

Zinjo Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) And some people insist that Macross 7 is NOT a parody of the franchise.... These pictures are definitive proof... Edited September 19, 2007 by Zinjo Quote

mikeszekely Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 uggggggggggggg....those clown valkyries makes me wanna regurgitate violently without any mercy at all Well, they're civilian-owned, right? And think about what people already do to their cars (extra amusing to me, as I live in kind of a white-trash town, so the kids put giant spoilers, fart cans, and neon on old economy Dodge Omni and strangely don't do anything about the extensive rust, and hang out with other kids with trashy cars at Wal-Mart and kid themselves into thinking they're cool). azrael Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Well, they're civilian-owned, right? Yes, all those Destroids and VF-1s were civilian owned. And yes, think about what people do to their cars.... Quote
Phyrox Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 wait, why am i being quoted in a sig? without context it makes no sense whatsoever, and if the context was provided it would be just a fairly straightforward observation with none of the wit or irony that people usually want in sigs. I'm confused. Quote
TheLoneWolf Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Yes, all those Destroids and VF-1s were civilian owned. And yes, think about what people do to their cars.... Except that VF-1's and Destroids cost a lot more than cars. Like Zinjo said, Mac7 is a satire hence the clown Valkyries. Quote
VF5SS Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Since when do feathers and a little ornate paint = clown? Only one particular VF-1D was dressed as a clown complete with red nose and a fake smile. If anything they're just being festive for the carnival. Some of them weren't done up in festive schemes. I'll post pics of the regular VF-1s later. Quote

Roger Posted September 19, 2007 Author Posted September 19, 2007 There's something familiar about the VF-1A with the yellow feathers and red flames. Is it supposed to be a Dragonball or Saint Seiya character? Quote

It's perfectly believable that with two top ace pilots as parents Mylene would have received some flight training. My old girlfriend's dad was a pilot and she had some flying lessons when she was a teenager, and he just flew little prop planes and wasn't a dogfighting ace. Quote
Roger Posted September 19, 2007 Author Posted September 19, 2007 Your girlfriend is a pilot? (sorry, couldn't resist) Quote

Mylene actually implies that she learned to fly from her parents when Basara gets hurt protecting the Rex gang and Mylene flies his VF back to City 7. Some of these guys may look familiar. VFTF1 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Except that VF-1's and Destroids cost a lot more than cars This leads us to an interesting question. What would the resale value of Destroids and VF-1s be a couple decades past their prime? Given the amount of people who own antique cars, aeroplanes etc these days, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to imagine people owning their own Variable Fighters in the M7 universe.
