Mislovrit Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 maybe, but david webers name was bigger on the book. maybe just to sell more but still.Laumer created the Bolo universe, Weber, Drake and other authors do stories in that universe not unlike done with the Conan, Star Wars, and Star Trek franchises but with better quality control. Morpheus Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 (edited) The armoured division from Warhammer 40K is one of my favorite design. Have you guys check the new tanks to be released October? chrono Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 maybe, but david webers name was bigger on the book. maybe just to sell more but still. It's an author thing. Generally the author's name is splashed on the cover like this. And yes BOLO's XXXII's for the win!! Quote
grapetang Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Hmm... can't think of my top tanks at the moment... EXO: GUNHED! Great design & cheesy movie!!! Valkyrie: Assault: Amazing game and rotational graphics - one of my all time favorites. It took me a while & lots of quarters to beat. The in-game tank looks better than the drawings though... Speaking of Bolo, what about Winchell Chung's designs for Steve Jackson's Ogre games? The heavy tanks and superheavies were neat too. Quote
ShadowerV2 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Land Liger and Land Cougar and Big Moth from Dancouga! When they are in Tank mode anyway. Quote
JELEINEN Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 the mamoth tanks from command and conquer series are cool. as is the bolo tanks from david weber books. Laumer's books, originally. Quote
gerwalk25 Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Since Halo 3 came out recently the Scropion Tank is another favorite tank. It's ugly but gets the job done. Quote
areaseven Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Who said tanks were supposed to look good? Quote
Mr March Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Tanks are cool because they are ugly. That's the point. Actually, most military hardware is ugly. Jeeps, tanks, helicopters, frigates; they all look ugly. Fighter Jets are about the only military machines that actually look aesthetically pleasing and that's because aerodynamic design is a necessity of building a flying craft. But I prefer my tanks ugly Quote
Morpheus Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Who said tanks were supposed to look good? Answer: More at Tales of the Future Past Quote
Mr March Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Oh, to look upon the science fiction of old with hindsight and marvel at how we guessed wrong I wonder if our modern day sci-fi mecha will look as silly in about 50 years Quote
Gui Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 the mamoth tanks from command and conquer series are cool This one? (See attached pic) I wonder if our modern day sci-fi mecha will look as silly in about 50 years NEVER!!! Quote
