myk
I'd have to go with the big white tank from the Ghost in the Shell movie, or maybe one of the Tachikomas...
Mr March
Like myk, I really like many of the Think Tanks from the Ghost In The Shell movies and series. I especially like the Standard Light Weight Tank (Crab Tank) in the GITS feature film, the Tachikomas and the HAW206 (Scorpion Tank) seen in GITS-SAC 1st Gig. CLICK HERE FOR LARGER VERSION I also really like the Patlabor future tanks, like the HAL X-10 and the AFL-98 Lhada. eugimon
tachikoma for me as well. I just love them little guys something fierce!
Greyryder
Would the M60A2 count, since it was also called the "Starship?" Functionally it sucks, but it looks cool. From science fiction, I'd have to vote for the Battle Force Tank, from the video game Recoil. I also rather liked the various Grav Tanks from Renegade Legion. reddsun1
I've always liked the AFL-98 Lhada from the Patlabor 2 movie. A real-life version - as impractical, expensive and fragile as it may end up being - seems not too far-fetched, much like a lot of the designs from the Patlabor films (I've not seen/followed the TV series in comparison). Those designs have always struck me as very realistic, which is what makes 'em so dang cool for me... Boxer
One of my favorites was the Rail-Gun Tiger tank from the old Sierra game Outpost 2 Since there was never a really good picture of it, the best I got is my own drawing from DA

the white drew carey
Since absolutely no one has already. I'll split my vote between Metal Gear Rex & Ray. Meh... While they were neat, and I love the MGS games, Rex and Ray just weren't that cool to me. Plus, do they really qualify as tanks? They're main source of movement is locomotion through the legs. wolfx
The Baneblade, an Imperial Guard tank from Warhammer 40k. The motha of all tanks in the 40k era. A 3D model. http://www.3d-ring.de/forum.php?topic=1038...a=4&limit=
Lynx7725
The Baneblade, an Imperial Guard tank from Warhammer 40k. The motha of all tanks in the 40k era. A 3D model. Why a 3D model? Go for a real plastic model, fresh off the oven.. http://warseer.com/forums/1903011-post1.html As for myself.. still the M.A.C. II.
1st Border Red Devil
Just to be contrary, I'll go with the AIFV from Southern Cross. The cool thing about the design is it and the C3I vehicle are the same basic chassis (kinda like how Germany was developing the MRAV <Multi-Role Armored Vehicle>), meaning you can build alot of them and use the same basic parts across the platforms. Though, to be fair, the C3I vehicle appears to use camouflage better than the AIFV....
Valkyrie
Here's one for ya. The otherwise unnamed "Player's Tank" from the 1988 Namco arcade game Assault. It's an old favorite of mine. I'm gonna scratchbuild a model of it one of these days... Those are two sides of the same tank, by the way
Kurisama
Masamune's Tanks ROCK! I always loved the Bonaparte from tank police, and the Fuchikomas - and the think tank... Anyone know why it and the tank from metal slug are almost the same if not identical? Anyone have pics of the other tank in the first ep of tank police that gets destroyed? that was sweet!!! Or the spider tank thing in tank police that is like the grand daddy of the think tank in GiTS?
F-ZeroOne
If by "spider-tank", you're referring to the very tall, spindle-type walking tank from the Dominion graphic novel, that design is actually based on a T-4 Bacteriophage...! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T4_phage
valkyrie13
Clearly not the strongest but there is a tank in Macross that briefly appears and gets blown up during the sequence of Earth getting annihilated by the Zentradi force in the TV series. Axelay
If we're counting tanks from games, then I'm definitely going to say the Harkonnen Devastator from Dune II (and Dune 2000). Slow as molasses, but nearly unstoppable and with more firepower than anything else in the game. And if you manage to destroy one, you had better be a LONG way away from it 'cause it's going to leave quite a nasty hole in the world when it explodes. A very close second would be the GDI Mammoth Tank from Command and Conquer.
konimon
There are many sci-fi tanks around Gun-Hed and it's enemy, Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor and so on. I'd like add a couple though. Hildolfr from MS Igloo and Bonaparte Tulcas from Dorvack. Edited September 18, 2007 by konimon
Mislovrit
There are many sci-fi tanks around Gun-Hed and it's enemy, Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor and so on.Yet half of the "tank" entries in this thread aren't tanks in function or form.
