I wish those guys came with helmets.

Also, is it just me or does Russ look like Val Kilmer to anyone else? Madmartigan with blonde hair.

Ultramarines Apothecary Biologis.

I really wish they would fix the custodes figures. Both the regular ones and the allarus terminators. The regular ones look more like they are squats in proportions and the allarus also have legs that are far too short compared to the upper body. Until then, I'm not getting any more custodes.

Also, it's annoying how they designed the apothecary. The canister is permanently attached to the figure via the cable, unless you cut it off or manage to break the glue.

Glad that it seems to be as big as the primaris captain in gravis armor though.  Not Voltian, but the newer one. Seems to me to be about the right height of what a primaris should be.

The 3.0 primaris marines like the sternguard and recent rereleases like Lt Agaranthe, Castor, and Wolf pack are still barely over 7 feet tall if you multiply the height of the figures by 18. That's like the low end of firstborns and not what you'd expect of primaris.

Got the last of my 10th Edition terminators today, the chaplain. They all look really good, especially with a bit of extra work done to them.

Now I just need the apothecary and a bunch of 'nids.

Got Mr. Heresy on Friday. He's a heavy and chonky boi. I feel like nearly 40% of the weight is from the wolf pelt and cape. Did some work to repaint his face to add some shading and details as it was kind of lacking. Also repainted the pelt as they did a piss poor job of it. Added a wash, highlights and weathering to the rest of the figure and a red LED behind the head. One of the best figures JoyToy has released so far this year.

Got my first Joy Toy 40K figures, love them, the green is nice, but they definitely need a bit of weathering as they are a bit plain. They just arrived at work so I was only able to bust one of them out, really neat little figures, solid price from AliExpress too. I got bit by the 40K bug thanks to Space Marine II, I've got nearly 100 hours in already, been grinding out the classes, already read Heresy book 1 and 2, and I've been watching hours of lore deep dives on Youtube, I'm hooked.

I've got Captain Agatone on the way, I'll probably grab all three eradicators and two bladeguards as well, I wish Joy Toy would do Vulkan himself, or at least a dreadnought for the Salamanders, oh well, one day.

I think I love these figures. I have always liked the designs going back to my younger days when I built the miniatures in the 90's. The last thing I wanted to do though was start a new line. I had to resign myself to admiring them from afar.

Long story short, I ended up getting Roboute (on a less than sober whim *PSA don't do this guys) for a deep discount. I haven't been able to stop since. I don't even like the Ultramarines. You can't get any more generic than them. OK at all, master of none. Blech, boring, dull as dishwater. And yet I had to have a troop of them (gotta get someone(s) for the Primarch to command right? Right?). And the Sons of Horus. And the Thousand Sons. And the Dark Angels. And the Space Wolves. And toy gods willing eventually the Death Guard. They don't refer to the products in this hobby as plastic crack for nothing. I swear I'm stopping at six chapters, I just need another trooper to get by.

As far as the figures they are super durable, have great articulation, hold their poses, have nice paint (including washes and highlights), and on and on. I haven't had this much fun with a purchase in a long long time. My collection has been focused on fiddley semi-fragile high end products for so long that I forgot what it was like to just pick something up and play with it. These hit all of the right notes for me.

It's also neat that all of the hand held weapons are interchangeable (at least the ones I own). All of my Primarchs, Terminators, and Space Marines can wield each others weapons. It's interesting how it is possible as they all have different hand sizes. I would assume it is due to the flexibility of the materials. Or maybe the hands are different sizes but the openings for the weapons in each hand are the same size. Whatever the magic being used it adds yet another layer of playability. Want to have a simple grunt smash waves of enemies with Horus's massive mace in one hand and cleave them with Roboute's flaming sword in the other? No problem (yes, I have done this 🙂).

Brought one of my more recent acquisitions on a trip and took some pictures. I really liked how the paint for the lenses popped in natural light. Enjoy!

I'm right there with you.

Sure I'm old and I do have a soft spot for that very first boxset of space marine models I got decades ago. Putting that aside though the MKVI is the BEST of all the WH power armors. That beak is the perfect representation for the Imperium considering their use of the Aquila. It is also unique and easily recognizable. There is no mistaking that it is a WH power armor when you see that helmet. And best of all - it looks bad ass.

While the MKIII and MKIV have some redeeming visual qualities the MKVII and above are pretty meh. The MKX seems especially uninspired. All those years GW had to develop a new power armor for the next chapter in the story and that's the best they could come up with? A modular MKVII with a MKIV helmet?

I've already told myself - If JoyToy releases a MKVI for one of the chapters I am collecting it is an instant purchase.

Mine was a thirty pack of plastic marines for only thirty bucks. All pointy faced and glorious with options for weapons and packs and even with or without helmets. It was inexpensive the way a set of gaming pieces were meant to be. It was also from the time when the game had an odd sense of humor about its brutality. Fun times for sure. It was back when orcs and eldar were the big enemies and had more of a sense of futuristic fantasy to the setting

Yup, that's the exact set I was referring to. Got it at a book store like Crown or something. Such a fantastic set, especially when you see what they charge now.

The Mk VI blueberry looks pretty good. I may have to consider getting one or two. I'm lacking Mk VI armor in my collection aside from the IF and SoH praetors. I'm running out of display space so I have to kinda choosy with what I get.

Got the Big E recently and he's currently the centerpiece of my Warhammer collection. It's a custom figure with 3d printed parts and using a McFarlane body as the base.

Did some extra work to make it look a lot better to me.

Well that... that is gorgeous 🤩! The fur, the paint, it really is a work of art. I have been hoping that JoyToy tackles that figure. They already have Horus with Sanguinius on the way. Need the big man himself to complete the final battle.

As far as the MKVI the Ultramarines have one other thing going for them. They have an extra head sculpt for no extra charge. Since the beak is my favorite I can swap the extra onto another figure. Right now the scrub brush sculpt is on an honor guard and it looks so much nicer than the one it came with. I hope this trend continues.

It really is an awesome looking figure. Unfortunately, JoyToy will never make an official Emperor since they can only base it off of existing stuff like miniatures or more recently from games like Titus and co from Space Marine 2, which they had to get a separate license for. Their licenses don't give them leeway to do much else. So the way I see it, this is going to be the closest I'm going to get to having Big E unless GW makes a mini of him for their Horus Heresy line.

This is supposed to be 1/18 scale, but trying to argue the size of a person that can change his size at will with biomancy is kind of a fruitless endeavor.

54124862738_da06f095d3_4k.jpg

An older pic where I did some work on the figure but before I refined it more like the previous pics, but good for size comparison:

54119997088_e4c3bad37c_4k.jpg

The listing I used on Taobao to purchase it through a purchasing agent is no longer there, but if you're interested in getting one, I did find some listings on goofish from other people, using the same sculpt but having some differences in how it's painted and how the cape is implemented. After the cost of the figure itself and shipping and purchasing agent fees, it came out to around $330 USD.

Deep down I knew this was the case but sometimes hope overrides logic. The fact their figures are basically oversized articulated copies of the miniatures pretty much proves your point.

First Astartes, then the Knights... Joytoy Warlord titan engine when? 🤣

(In the same 1/18 scale, a Warlord titan would be 1.82m tall.)

Speaking of Warlord titans, this thing stands nearly as tall as the FW one. Strongly considering getting two (one to keep, one to convert) to make a cheaper titan.

And to think, that Paladin is still on the short side of the big boys out there. Can't wait to see the Joy Toy Warmaster Titan....

Hell, go big or go home... a Joytoy Imperator Titan at 1/18 scale would be 3.1m (10'2").

Who wouldn't want to build an extension on their house to house a 1/18 scale version of the infamous Heresy-era Imperator Dies Irae

The size was already difficult for me to justify, but the price is a definite deal breaker. I’d still love to have it if I win the lottery
