mikeszekely Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I used to have some slick images saved, but I lost them all when I got rid of my old computer. I thought I had them saved to a disc, but I apparently don't have the disc, so... Anyone have some lineart of the SW-XA1 Schneeblume and the SW-XAII Schneegans? If I recall correctly, they were from some modeling magazine. Quote

mikeszekely Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 Look in the MAGAZINES section of MW under Model Graphics. Close. I found it, but they're in Character Model, not Model Graphics. Quote
Zinjo Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Close. I found it, but they're in Character Model, not Model Graphics. Unfortunately they are not in as hi a res as I'd like personally and the mags are getting harder and harder find on YHJ... Quote
Kurisama Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Do these help? The best i've got on these i'm afraid... Quote
mikeszekely Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 Yeah, I think I found most of the magazine scans, but the plain gifs of the SW-XA1 in Battroid I didn't have. Quote
Mr March Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 (edited) What are these two Valkyries? Are they from one of the shows, like some obscure mecha seen only briefly in the background or something? They are actually pretty damn cool. The battroid designs are fairly tight and the fighter modes are both good. REALLY good actually; much better than most of the little-known Valkyries I've seen. The SW-XA1 Schneeblume fighter looks like a precursor to the VF-0. About the only thing I don't like about these two are the names Is Character Model magazine the only book in which this line art has appeared? Edited August 26, 2007 by Mr March Quote
valk1j Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Best Hi-res I have of the SW-XA1 battroid and a colored pic. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 yeah, same here, I've heard about this and seen scans before, but what are they officially? some kind of test aircraft? rogue mecha or what!? if Mr. Macross Mecha Manual doesn't know...then I'm really off too Quote
valk1j Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Here is your answer. http://macross.anime.net//mecha/non_studio...wxa1/index.html Quote
Ryoma Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 WoW....in these pics these two mechas look so cool and so...Yamato... Quote

Here is your answer. http://macross.anime.net//mecha/non_studio...wxa1/index.html Thanks valk1j! This explains everything. It's a shame these designs weren't explored further. A bit more refinement of the battroid mode and these two Valkyries would make perfect mecha for a Macross anime. But overall, I really like them. Now onto the nigh impossible task of obtaining high resolutions scans of this line art Quote
mikeszekely Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 Yeah, these are some of my favorite designs. The SW-XA1, IMHO, is much nicer than the VF-0, kinda like a refined VF-1. And the SW-XAII is like everything good about the VF-19 and none of the bad. My only gripe is the goofy canards. Quote
Mr March Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 It'd be tough to choose a color scheme. One could go with the transformable model colors in the magazine, but they don't really look like official color schemes. Course, there's plenty of existing schemes to choose from and just adapt them to the SW-XA1 and SW-XAII Quote
valk1j Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 (edited) More pics. Edited August 26, 2007 by valk1j Quote
Lonewolf Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 The SW-XA1 and SW-XAII are really great VF-1 modenization. A shame it's not part of the official continuity. Quote

Actually if the ever do a reboot (or relegate the Tatsunoko series as a TV series about the events of SW1) I am hoping they use the SW-XA1 as the actual VF-1 Valkyrie and designate the SW-XAII as a VF-9 Crusader in the continuity. The SW-XA1 looks far more like the successor to the VF-0 than the the VF-1 now does. It also looks more like the modern design aesthetics introduced in Mac Plus and continuted in Mac 7. Quote
Sumdumgai Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I like these two designs. I just don't like the line markings on the nose and over the air-brake area. You know, the concept sketches of the new Macross Frontier valkyrie from a while back (that Kawamori interview article), they really reminds me of the SW-XAI. One of the battroids reminds me of the SW-XAII the way it's set up. Quote
valkyrie13 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Awesome designs. I would definitely put these on my list of future scratchbuilds if I ever get around to finishing what I started... Quote

Similar looking sketches appear in SK's Design Works book and it's fairly generic. I suspect the actual design of the new variable fighter(s) is going to be top secret until just before the release. Mr March Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I hadn't thought about that. You're probably right. I know they do that often times with promotional material and it's annoying Quote
Sketch Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 I really like these designs; it's a shame they'll probably be forgotten. Does anyone have cleaned up lineart of the XA2? Or does anyone with photoshop skills feel up to the task? Quote
Midnight_Wyvern Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Oh man, I wish they made Chogokin DX of these, because I would happily spend too much money (again) on one of those! My YF-29 Durandal would no longer be alone in my shelf. Quote
NZEOD Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 (edited) yeah... I'd love a 1/72 Fighter for the hall display Edited May 25, 2016 by NZEOD Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 The Schneeblume is my favorite VF, it's my dream valk as a 1/60 transformable toy!!! Quote
