Mr March
Hey Macross game players, I need some help. I need some information about some mecha from the Macross video games VF-X2 and the Family Soft games from 1993-1995. Specifically, I want to know about the VF-11B VF-X2 color variant, the VB-6 Konig Monster from VF-X2 and the SDP-1 Stampede Valkyrie. I'd like to know any basic information about the fighters (who piloted them, what role the fighter fulfills, etc) as well as any specific information about the fighter like statistics and what not. I've already checked the Macross Compendium and read as much information on the fighters as it has. But I'd like some more information if possible. Even a little bit about what the fighter does in the context of the game story would be useful.
Sorata
I have VF-X 1 and 2, Macross M3 and Macross for PS2 so I will load up the games in a little while and give you as much info as I can. Edit: You fly as Captain Aegis Focker, in the VF-11B in the game your weapon choices are the gunpod, and for sub-weapons: Standard Missiles, HI-Manuver Missiles, and Chaff. After finishing the game once and saving you have access to the Full Armored VF-11B starting at mission Mission: "Moby Dick" that cant transform in game but has the long range gunpod and for sub weapons: Micro Missiles, Grenade Crusher, and Nuclear Missiles. The standard VF-11B is available from the games opening mission. I'll post more with pics as I replay the game. Sorata
Lets see the VF-17s piloted by Brando in the game is almost the exact same as Milia's in Macross 7 though art shows it more maroon in color in game its more red. As for the VF-11B its white with 2 UN Spacy kites on the nose and one on the left wing's top. The Battroid modes heat shield is the same color as the nose section and also the tails of the VF-11B has yellow and black caution style stripes with a white skull with red eye patch logo. The Battroid camera cover is green. And the nose is a yellow orange hue similar to many model paintjobs of the VF-4 nose. The VF-11B is piloted by your character Capt Focker and Suzie Newtlet and Syun Tohma. New picks in the album http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v481/Stu...r%20Mr%20March/ taken unfortunately badly (hazard of taking pics with a digital camera and 52" DLP tv). Most pics are for color and marking references. And it is very hard to get picks of the Valkyries as the camera only pans in combat or in cutscenes so bear with the fuzzy pics. Sorata
Commander Wilbur Garland: Commander of the VF-X Ravens, gives you your mission briefings. Later pilots a VF-22 as your enemy. Captain Gilliam Angreat: Flight Leader of the VF-X Ravens. Eventually leaves and the post is turned over to you. Pilots a VF-19A Syun Tohma and Suzie Newtlet: Newest rookies to the VF-X Ravens you choose which one is your wingman throughout the game. Both pilot the VF-11B. Timoshie Daldahnton : leader of terrorist group Black.... (Black Ravens or Black Rainbow I have see it listed as both but believe it is suppossed to be Rainbow) aka "All-Kill Wizard" piloted the Fz-150 Pheyos Valkyrie when target in the stage it is destroyed its labeled as "FEIOUS" Manfred Brando: President of the Critical Path Corporation and pilot of the Red VF-17S, inventor of a new device that can disrupt the lock-on functions of the enemy used in his Valkyrie and the Macross-13 (called a sound jammer I believe). Eimi Clocks: Secretary of Commander Garland and helps deliver your missions briefing. Brigitte Spark and Clara Callete: Your mission controllers. (Callete appears in several date scenes with Aegis Focker) Mariafokina Barnrose: Green haired Zentraedi pilot enemy/friend who pilots a VF-1J "Milia" Valkyrie in the scheme Milia used in the original series. Also more pics http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v481/Stu...r%20Mr%20March/ Its easier to click view all to find what you wanna look at All 152 images, Mr March if you need a specific pic for reference let me know. EDIT: By the way your Uraga Class Escort Battle Carrier is Zentraedi green I believe its a modified Uraga called CV-565 In the context of the game the VF-11B used as any other VF-11 would be as a genral fighter. The Konig however plays the heavy armor and firepower role being forced as your craft choice in a city battle against a Valkyrie boss and a heavy mech weapon boss that is about the size or a little bigger than the Konig. No statistic I can see are listed in the game, those might be in a game guide though as I do remember an old site at one time had the attck and defense etc of each craft listed in a scale chart but the site is long since gone. Mr March
Thanks very much for the information Sorata. I can use some of this to build a profile for the VF-11B VF-X2 (I guess officially "VF-X Ravens" is it?) and a VB-6 Konig. I think I'll also try a Pheyos too, since I've got color reference line art for that as well. The character profiles don't do me much good. I can't read japanese and the small amount of translation work I can do, I use Babelfish and sort of stumble my way through. I'm currently reworking a few old profiles with bits and pieces of new translations I've done myself, which I'm hoping are at least halfways accurate. The Golg Gants Charts and the Light Transport Boat are two new ones coming up So the VF-X Ravens VF-11B heat shield is the nose yellow? I actually had it colored the tail yellow. When I get home from work today, I'll post a picture of both and get your opinion.

Sorata
The second one is the closest one by the game. Also the Battroid head glass should be neon green and the two triangles on each leg below the knee should be yellow and the nose and heat shield are a little darker. Also the heatshield has no emblem (Edit i stand corrected after loading up the first mission I noticed at times the emblem does appear off and on on the heatshield and it is yellow.) The canards dont have yellow edges. Hope that helps. By the Way in one mission your codenamed Minmay 1 and your wingman Minmay 2 The same mission you fight 9 Ghost Fighters and a green and tan VF-19. The yellow stripe on the canards is not shown in game I know, but it appears on some of the pictures of that color scheme. It could go either way. I think it looks a little better with. Mr March
LOL Poor VF-11, it's only moment to shine was a brief scene in the Macross Plus OVA beginning. If ever there was a more poorly depicted Main Variable Fighter for the UNS, I've not heard of it Well, I'm going to try building a profile. I'll post a first draft in this thread and go from there. Torii
I can take a few higher quality screencaps from VFX-2 and zip them up with rips of the OP movie and Macross 13 Cinematic, if you'd like. edit: 600x480 alright? Torii
Here's what I could get from the first level on a second playthrough. The Armored Battroid, Armored Thunderbolt, and Koenig Monster are only available on certain stages, so they'll be put in when I can get to those stages. I'll try and screencap the stuff Sorata did with his camera later. So in short, what this has: - At least 9 pictures for each VF (selection screen + gameplay) - Prologue pictures - VFX-2 OP and Macross 13 Cinematic http://rapidshare.com/files/49645831/vfx2screencapspart1.7z

VF5SS
That's 7zip. I highly recommend the 7zip program. It's free and can open almost any kind of compressed file. Even those obscure ones Japanese people tend to use.

Mr March
Final image: Yellow Variant First Draft write up: On April 9, 2050, Captain Aegis Focker is placed in command of the 727th Independent Special Command VF-X Ravens. The VF-X Ravens operate the VF-11B fighters still in service and feature unique customized squadron colors. The normally dark colors of the VF-11B are replaced with a light grey hull, yellow highlights of the wing tips/stabilizers and a beige nose cone. Within this squadron Captain Focker commands Suzie Newtlet and Syun Tohma, two rookie pilots that quickly develop into stalwart fighters. The VF-X Ravens fly in combat against a newly formed terrorist group known as the Vindirance. Backed by the Critical Path Corporation and lead by Timoshie Daldahnton, the Black Rainbows unit is the most vicious enemy threat to the UNG since the Varauta Army attacks of the Protodeviln War. Though I have the game and played and beat it believe it or not I have never seen the ending after the in game scene showing the fleet firing on Macross 13 after your VF attacks it and the fight with your wingman is over. Though I have read what the ending shows and have a save completed file thanks to a friend who no longer has the game. My game locks up there everytime after that ingame scene even though it has no scratches on the disc and its in mint condition. I think it is due to the method I use to play it is a psXchange 2 disc swap. Could you possibly record the ending in a video? And to Mr March I like both the pics and the synopsis. Thanks for your efforts for the community.

As above, Torii and Sorata have provided a a large number of scans so I could conceivably include the VF-1X Plus, VF-19A, VF-17 and VA-3 color variants as well. Might be a while before they appear though. I'm doing mostly Macross 7 stuff right now (currently working on the New Macross Class).

Sorata
Great stuff. That's quite a good find. Thanks Sorata. Thanks. Some stuff to help you understand the story and supplement the FAQ is the enemy flagship they mention in Mission 7 is a Meltran Gunship. Starting with the closing animated scene in Mission 11.B the Macross that is shown in space in that scene and in the final battle is the Macross 13. On the other missions the SDF Macross mentioned in mission 11 and missions prior to it was the original SDF-1. edit Pics of the enemys ships DESTROYER UNTAMED Mission 8 King & I also in Mission 9 Mary Poppins http://mahq.net/mecha/macross/vf-x2/hatchet.htm ATTACKER VANDAL boss in Miison 5 Moby Dick also in Mission 9 Mary Poppins http://mahq.net/mecha/macross/vf-x2/vandal.htm ANNABELLA LASIODORA Mission 10A Easter Parade also 10B On The Town (Dont shoot Gilliam) http://mahq.net/mecha/macross/vf-x2/annabellalasiodora.htm Gjagravan-va in Mission 6 Singin' in the Rain http://mahq.net/mecha/macross/vf-x2/gjagravan-va.htm All were found here, http://mahq.net/mecha/macross/vf-x2/ they also have pics of the submarine and Timoshie Daldanton's Fz-150 Pheyos Valkyrie which in a later mission when you target it is labeled on your hud as "FEIOUS" VF-X2 Valkyrie and weapon stats http://f9.aaa.livedoor.jp/~toshi/vfx2/frame/valkyrie-f.php This page seems to descibe which event you get based on scores? http://f9.aaa.livedoor.jp/~toshi/vfx2/frame/mission-f.php Edited August 21, 2007 by Sorata
Torii
The ships were easy. Armored Valkyrie and Armored Thunderbolt are easily the most broken units in the game. If its not the rapid-fire reloading missiles, it is the nuke, in the Armored Thunderbolt's case, though the gunpod is insanely strong as well. The enemy in Singing in the Rain was NOT fun this last playthrough. Especially since the Koenig Monster is the least maneuverable thing in the game... =_= And then I discovered you could shoot through buildings with the Koenig Monster's Railgun if you hugged the building in front of you. Victoly~ XD
sketchley
Take care to stay out of the blast radius of the nuke (your own, or the opponents.) I once got fried when I fired a nuke (I think it was sans lock-on) and it decided to chase me instead! The enemy ships in the easier settings are fairly easy if you keep moving, make hit and run attacks. However, they get progressively more deadly at the more difficult settings. In fact, they fire different weapons! The Hatchet class for example, in Maniac mode fires some kind of heat-seeking nuke at the player; a weapon not used in the easier settings!
Torii
Everything feels easier on the easier settings. >_> But the ships are easy regardless of the attacks. Just camp just outside of their range and mow away with your gunpod~ edit: The FA-11's XS-06 Heavy Gunpod does WONDERS.
