zeiram zero Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Hi there, just got back my collage studies and finally got a copy of maya 7. and ive begun work on a brand new model of the SDF-1 DYRL version. and while its nowhere near as cool as Mac666er's SDF-1 tv model i think ive come along way from some of my earlier works in the PLE version of maya. anyways enjoy and please post any comments or critiques about the model let me know if theres anything i should improve or change. eugimon Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 still plenty cool! Do you have the transformation animated? If you do, let's see some movies! Quote
Lonewolf Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Great modelling skills example. I love the DYRL version of the SDF-1. Quote
zeiram zero Posted July 5, 2007 Author Posted July 5, 2007 still plenty cool! Do you have the transformation animated? If you do, let's see some movies! Thanks for the feedback guys, and yes i do plan to make a transformation animation for the model but im still in the process of understanding MAYA character rigging so im wondering if i should use set driven keys or build a skeleton rig and bind it to the model. also im trying to figure out texturing models so if anyone could give me some tips i would appreciate it. zeiram zero Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 well here you go, oh and by the way i used the SDF -1 schematic artwork from the macross mecha manual to create the model so if anyone is planing to create their own 3D works thats a good place to find a few technical drawings Quote

To me, it's easier to see the basic shapes and proportions from your models than from the schematics, which are almost too detailed. Hope it's not too demanding of me, but could you post a rear and bottom view, and maybe some shots of the storm attacker mode? Thanks again! Chad Quote
eugimon Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Heh, I love these threads. I know nothing about 3d modeling, but I'm always impressed by how diverse the talents are here at MW. Quote

Lonewolf Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Great work, the DYRL version is my favorite out of the 2. Cheers. Quote
