UN_MARINE Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 sarah has what... five years or so until she dies of leukemia in 1997 actually, according to the novel, Sarah dies in 2029 In the T2:JD book by Randal Frakes, Sarah Connor does die, but she dies escorting a convoy of supplies up from Mexico when it is ambushed by multiple HKs. John receives the news of his mother's death just as SKYNET falls, so it is a bitter victory since his mother just died, and he is also about to send Reese (his father) back in time to his eventual death at the hands of the first Terminator. source here: T3 review it's about 1/3 down the page hmmm.. so it's "Firefly the Terminator Slayer from Smallville" huh? let's see where it goes Quote
UN_MARINE Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 looks like they're headed in the right direction in this one. i like how they expound on ideas from the novel, where a terminator can be anybody. 2 governators in a row was silly, 3 was just ridiculous and the capacity of a terminator to actually blend in with humans up to a social level. previously, they just needed to look human. now they act like humans! that's how it's done right! but time travel... that's kind of a stretch, especially with it being established as something 'incredibly difficult to do' in the 1st movie. bsu legato Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 (edited) In case there's anybody who's still mildly interested, Entertainment Weekly has some new PROMO PICS for T:SCC (and an awkward acronym that is.) Terminatrix Summer Glau is photoshoppy, as can be expected considering the subject matter, but Lena Headey as Sarah is pure sex. Having seen the pilot, she's actually a pretty good replacement. Unless, that is, somebody is prepared to moan about "Sarah Connor needing to be a blonde!" The rest of the show is....ehh, not entirely sucky, to my surprise. I can't see it lasting, but at least they gave it the old college try. Edited November 17, 2007 by bsu legato Quote
Vermillion21 Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Thanks for the link ... I am actually looking forward to seeing this show, with minimal expectations of course. Quote

grss1982 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I've gone an a mad spree on youtube for videos on this show, and I did anybody notice that most of the Terminators are'nt that well built or not muscular enough ala Arnold in T1 and T2? Hmmm.... Maybe they should've hired some of the WWF stars. :-) Quote
Hikuro Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 well the terminator concept was a cyborg that looked like any other man or woman. i dont think the direction of how the terminators look really matter...both look like a normal person and not someone with 22 inch pythons going "GET IN DAH CHOPPER!" Quote
eugimon Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I think it makes more sense, if you're trying to blend in. I don't know many people who are the size of arnold who don't work out several times a week, if not a day and have a carefully regimented diet... all of which I find hard to believe would be possible in a war torn future where humans are hunted like rats. Quote
UN_MARINE Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 wasn't their excuse for using Arnold the "6-foot walking death machine + skin = huge bodybuilder" ? it was believable back then, with the 'fridge-sized home computers running around then T2 stepped into the more believable 'average-looking' terminator. "terminator=anybody" became much more sensible. Quote

Max Jenius Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 (edited) saw the pilot, it was ok... Summer Glau doesn't do it for me as a terminator tho... oh well. Terminator 3 was better than T2 imho, but I don't like my Terminators quite so cuddly. Edited December 20, 2007 by Max Jenius Quote
Hikuro Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Back when terminator was a concept to James Cameron he wanted his buddy who played Bishop in aliens (cant remember the guys name at all) to be The Terminator. He easily passed as a normal guy and I believe at one point, cameron as turned down by every studio until that actor came in to one small studio execs office as the terminator and bam, it was a done deal. However that guy wasnt going to be the infamous terminator. I can though believe in the 80s that some bulky buffed out guy wakin down the streets is just some normal guy since I think body building was THE THING for me to do back then. I did like how in T3 the mythos of where the terminators mold originates. I laughed my ass off during that deleted scene. It should of been kept in the movie. They should of shown Candy gettin his ass shot up though when the T1s were activated. Quote

Scream Man Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 wait, someone liked t3 better than....well frankly either Terminator? Really? i just thought it was a series of very bad ideas strung together with some poor writing. i mean Sarah is only mentioned in a throw away line about how she died of cancer 5 years back? the entire concept behind T2 (That the future is what you make it, nothing is set in stone etc etc) is undone with "it's all inevitable"... i really hated that movie. SCC looks interesting, so Ill give it a shot. Quote
grss1982 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 OK. went ahead and saw the pilot episode. It seems ok. :-) But a few questions popped up for me: What were those assualt rifles the first terminator in Sarah's dream carrying? Also how come that terminator only used a single shot from a pump-action shotgun!!??? WTF?? IIRC, don't pump-action shotguns have more than one shell? Quote
Vermillion21 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Is it this sunday it airs? I believe the show will premiere in 2 parts, on 2 days: Sun the 13, and Mon the 14 of January. Quote

You mean he loaded a single shell...pumped, fired, load another shell, pumped, fired? Odd. Quote

grss1982 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Haven't watched it yet. You mean he loaded a single shell...pumped, fired, load another shell, pumped, fired? Odd. Not exactly. It was like there was just one shell on the shotgun. I could hear only one shot and then it switches to dual wielded assault rifles. Changing from the shotgun to the A.R.s was the odd thing, because I thought shotguns can be loaded up to 8 rounds. Quote
wolfx Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Just seen it. Well he probably just had one shell and couldn't be bothered to find more. The terminator HUD now is lame....but at least it tells you how many magazines you have. I like the girl. She's hot. She's the same one from Serenity right? But anyway what's with all the time travelling? I mean wtf they sent some guy to the past to make a time machine for them to escape omg...is time travelling all that easy and non-paradox-creating? I just sense lots of contradictions are about to happen throughout the series. Quote

She's apparantly a really nice person and a lot of firefly fans say she's very approachable and fan friendly. Quote

Hikuro Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 So the pilot was tonight, it wasn't bad....it pretty much got straight to the point. Wasn't bad, of course you got ppl saying "It's just a rehash of T2" well.....it does take place AFTER T2.....why wouldn't it? Quote
UN Spacy Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Did they factor Terminator 3 into this? Quote
Keith Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Melodramatic trash, and everyone had freakish hair. Turned it off after half an hour. Quote
