grapetang Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Nice! Say, do they drop destroids off in space? I thought they were ground-based, without thrusters... Would the monster spin or be pushed back from the cannon recoil? Quote
MechTech Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 I'm thinkin', yes to all the above. No thrusters on the Monster other than those four 40cm babies. - MT Quote
Sdf-1 Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Nice! Say, do they drop destroids off in space? I thought they were ground-based, without thrusters... Would the monster spin or be pushed back from the cannon recoil? Heheh, so it can at least reverse. Forever. Quote
akt_m Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 (edited) I thought it had some thrusters because it had at least in the playstation game Macross Plus ME. My mistake! Edited June 3, 2007 by akt_m Quote
sketchley Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Agreed with akt_m: the Macross Plus Game Edition version of the Monster is able to hover, and move about in "flight". The Monster was also deployed in space (not necessarily floating around) in SDF:M and DYRL, which suggests that it at least has manuevering jets. That said, the developers of MP:GE could have taken artistic license, and/or the version seen in the game is a 2040 era version that has been modified to include manuvering thrusters not present on the original version. Zinjo Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 The Monster was also deployed in space (not necessarily floating around) in SDF:M and DYRL, which suggests that it at least has manuevering jets. Possibly, however I always thought it had magnetic pads in the feet to keep it stationary and allow it to walk along the hull in space. I saw no evidence of any thrusters. Considering it's mass any thrusters would surely be as visible as the destroids if not larger. That said, the developers of MP:GE could have taken artistic license, and/or the version seen in the game is a 2040 era version that has been modified to include manuvering thrusters not present on the original version. Well the Koenig monster from the games was fully transformable (no comments about that from me... ), not in the series' where it was shown. Quote
sketchley Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 You're confusing the VB-6 Koeng Monster from "VF-X2" with the HWR-00-Mk II Destroid Monster from "Macross Plus Game Edition". Quote
grapetang Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Well, regardless if it's canon or not, it's still pretty darn cool! I'll have to try the game sometime after I work my way through Homeworld 1, TIE Fighter, Freespace I & II, and a ton of others... Great work there! Quote
eugimon Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 heehee, a monster in HW2.... would be cool if you could land them on asteroids.. make them a nasty surprise for harvesters. Quote
