Guitar Hero - What platform?

I currently have no gaming consoles but I'm quite keen to try Guitar Hero. Anyone tried GH I or II on the different machines? I guess the choices are PS2, PS3 and X360.

I've heard some good things about the PS3, but PS2's are pretty cheap now. I'm leaning towards GH1 on a PS2.

PS2 is probably your best bet right now, as it'll be the cheapest and allow you to get GH1 and GH2. Not to mention there's a lot of ther great games on the system.

I heard the next one will be on ps3 also.

Pretty sure Guitar Hero 3 hasn't been announced yet... and when it is it'll probably be multiplatform.

What I've been reading about the PS3 makes it pretty appealing - HiDef games and after the last update, it up-converts dvds to HiDef when it plays them.

Does GH2 play on a PS2? I thought it was PS3 and X360 only.

GH2 plays on the PS2 and the PS2 is also getting the new 80s edition. Plus the GH games aren't really about graphics, it's more about the songs and play style so for the price the PS2 is a good platform. If you have the 360 your can download most of the games from the first GH to add to the GHII CD but I think that the cost of the per song for the GHI tracks are actually more or just as expensive as the PS2 CD.
