yellowlightman Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I figure October will be fun, as we'll all be playing AC6. You mean Halo 3.
David Hingtgen Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 ::checks exact dates:: OK, Halo 3 comes out Sept 25. Ace Combat 6 comes out Oct 23. GTA IV is Oct 16. The thing is---on-line Ace Combat is something totally new and has been much-desired for years. But Halo of course is THE online game... So Oct will be all Halo, but Nov will start getting a few AC 6 players, who've probably completed the main game and want to start dogfighting online. Halo will still be the main thing for online players in Nov though. GTA IV doesn't have any online gameplay, does it? Personally, I'll probably blow through AC 6 at warp speed, split my time for the rest of Nov between a 2nd campaign in AC 6 and online AC 6, then drop everything to play Mass Effect straight through twice when it comes out.
mikeszekely Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I just realized that I haven't updated our Xbox Live member list in a few months. Anybody else want to be added? Yeah, you can add me if you want. Pharaohman = mikeszekely, but be warned, I'm probably going to shell out the cash and have it changed so mikeszekely = mikeszekely. Oh, and David... I think this one's for you... Ayane statue with removable clothing.
David Hingtgen Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 The reason I haven't bought any DOA Ayane stuff is because they seem incapable of doing a half-way decent face on her. Which is kinda ironic, since she has a pretty darn generic "anime girl" face. They can do Kasumi well, but not Ayane for some reason. I have bought the Ninja Gaiden Ayane statue though, and I still consider it my best statue/figure purchase ever. Ironically, she's top heavy and leans over time, and I often have to prop her up at an angle to lean her way back into a vertical position. If her legs were solid instead of hollow (or at least from knees down) she wouldn't have this problem. I considered treating her like a vinyl kit and filling the lower section with plaster, but due to the way she's assembled, I figure she'd be destroyed in the process. So she just alternates between being on display, and being "reset into position". PS--I would never have my gamertag have my name in it. I use my name online for most everything, but for XBL--no way. Too many weirdos out there who may stalk you if you ever beat them in a game or something. PPS---you can't say anything, XBL says you were playing DOA Xtreme 2 just a few days ago. I don't even own it.
Fort Max Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Or Grand Theft Auto 4... Mercenaries 2 for me, on-line co op with my best mate in a mercs title could be even better then Crackdown.
CoryHolmes Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 then drop everything to play Mass Effect straight through twice when it comes out. I had no idea what Mass Effect was until you mentioned it. Now I can't wait for it to show up and it's all your fault ronically, she's top heavy and leans over time, This is news... how?
JsARCLIGHT Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 GTA IV doesn't have any online gameplay, does it? By all accounts it will have online multiplayer deathmatch and other "Versus" style games.
Apollo Leader Posted July 23, 2007 Author Posted July 23, 2007 Super Contra and Wing Commander Arena out this Wednesday! Wing Commander Arena I could care less, but I could sure go for some Super Contra action. (This is the arcade Super Contra, NOT the NES Super C).
eugimon Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I'm not sure what I was expecting from the WC game, but after seeing those screen shots, I'm kind of underwhelmed.
mikeszekely Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 PPS---you can't say anything, XBL says you were playing DOA Xtreme 2 just a few days ago. I don't even own it. smile.gif It was only $30 at my local Target. At that price, the lack of real gameplay isn't as much of an issue, and then buying not just swimsuits, but matching hats and shoes for Kasumi becomes a guilty pleasure. Ironically, I really don't have too much interest in either of this falls big guns, Halo 3 and GTAIV. What I do want is Dynasty Warriors Gundam, Ace Combat 6, Mass Effect, and Rock Band.

Ironically, I really don't have too much interest in either of this falls big guns, Halo 3 and GTAIV. What I do want is Dynasty Warriors Gundam, Ace Combat 6, Mass Effect, and Rock Band. Don't feel too bad. A few weeks ago I got Rumble Roses XX when I saw it for $14.95 at a local Shopko. I also got Tomb Raider Legend for the 360 for just $19.95 on the same purchase... boy, did I feel like such a loser when I went to pay for all of that! As for this fall, I'm looking forward to Halo 3, Dynasty Warriors Gundam, Call of Duty 4, Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, and Ace Combat 6. Maybe I'll get GTAIV at a later date. Last night was the first time in a year that I popped Over G Fighters back into my 360 and opened up a few more jets. This is my first full blown 360 game other then GOW or GHII that I've played since December!
yellowlightman Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 A good recently discounted 360 game is Chromehounds, which Gamestop is selling for $20 new. It's pretty much pure mecha porn, and although it takes a while to get into the customization has a lot more depth than Armored Core or Front Mission. Haven't given the online part a run yet, although I kind of doubt there are many people playing it online still.
Apollo Leader Posted July 26, 2007 Author Posted July 26, 2007 (edited) So who downloaded the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam demo yet? I did, but I haven't had the chance to play it yet. Any thoughts or opinions? Edited July 26, 2007 by Apollo Leader
Mechafan Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I have played the Demo. It is the same hack and slash but with Gundam. I got to use Wing Zero which is one of my favorite Gundams.
David Hingtgen Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Oooh, Wing Zero? I'll download the demo just for that. But I doubt I'll buy the game--I've tried several Dynasty etc demos, never really got into it. I like hack and slash, but the Dynasty series is such PURE hack and slash I get bored and my fingers hurt.
yellowlightman Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 As mediocre as the demo is, I know I'd enjoy it a lot more if I wasn't stuck with the lame Wing Zero. In terms of gameplay it feels like just about every other musou clone, but hey, it's Gundam and I'll probably end up buying it.
David Hingtgen Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 With the latest backwards compatability update, the 360 can now play every Xbox game I want it to, so I have utterly no use for my Xbox now. I'm thinking--there's often system trade-in specials, especially when new ones come out, or any other time system sales will go up. (I got double normal value for my old PS2 when the PStwo came out--cost me only 50 bucks to "upgrade") Anyone know/think there'll be an XBox trade-in bonus when Halo 3 comes out, since they'll be expecting a lot of new 360 owners just for that? But if it's only if the trade-in is to be applied to a new 360, that's pointless for me.
Uxi Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Anything new on XBL? I should probably just fire up and check
Keith Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 (edited) Uisng Wing Zero definately bored the hell out of me, but I'm anxious to see the Turn-A. I probably will end up buying it (edited for realizing I was posting in the 360 topic) Edited July 27, 2007 by Keith

Damn that game looks badass.

The last time I looked for it at Gamestop, it was listed for later this year. Hopefully they're just trying to make it perfect and not that it's been cancelled. It better be light years better then the Gundam game for the PS3 launch!

Keith Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Journey to Jaburo was lightyears better than crossfire, and I HATE j2j.

Chowser Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Well, I hope that's true. $349 for the 20gb Premium. Hopefully that means $399 for the 120 gb Elite with 65nm processor if it ever comes out. I'd definitely pick up an Elite for $399. Not the Halo 3 edition, it looks yucky.

You must be talking about this: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/28/rumor-xb...-advertisement/ I would like to get get an Elite someday, but I would like to wait for a major price cut and confirmation that the system is running cooler. It will be a miracle if I can make my 20GB hard drive last another year!
Apollo Leader Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 Journey to Jaburo was lightyears better than crossfire, and I HATE j2j. Though the gameplay was sluggish, for some reason I got a kick out JTJ. I managed to get all the Mobile Suits and movie cut scenes. The GM Sniper II was the best Mobile Suit in the game hands down.

JsARCLIGHT Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Question to anyone who might have seen info on this, I'm planning to get a Xbox 360 HD DVD drive when the price drops to $179 this Wednesday... has anyone seen anything about how the "5 Free HD DVDs by mail" thing is going to work? Everywhere I look I only see mention of the deal, that it is part of Toshiba's already ongoing "Perfect Deal" promo, it will only be good on drives bought between August 1st and September 30th and that it will be a mail in. Outside of that... nothing. So my question is: will this mail in deal be some sort of "pack in" form or will the form be available online? My PS3's free movie deal was an online form that you simply printed, filled out and mailed in with your UPC and a copy of your receipt... I'm hoping this HD DVD thing is the same as I'd really hate to have to track down a "specially marked box" with a form inside it as our local retailers don't exactly stock a lot of these things. At current glance only two Best Buy stores in the area even have any in stock, so this may be a "push and shove" sort of thing come Wednesday and I just want to make sure all that pushing and shoving isn't going to be for naught if I wind up buying one that doesn't have the special magic mail in forms inside of it or the right UPC code.
wolfx Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I was surprised that this popular japanese game (which started out as a fan project) was bought by Ubisoft and localised for english speakers. Its called Wartech: Senko No Ronde. http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1334/...ko-no-Ronde/p1/ Its quite unique that its both a shooter + a fighter. There was a time when the Japanese were crazy of the 2D jet shooter games where dodging impossible curtains of bullets were the game's point. It takes that aspect and makes it into a 1 on 1 fighter ala virtua on and you get Senko Ronde. Pretty cool game to play....but sadly probably only in the bargain bin.
yellowlightman Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Senko no Ronde is a weird game, as much as it looks like a 2D shooter it doesn't play like one... It has more in common with fighting games or Virtual On. I bought it, mostly because I like to support quirky releases, but it's really not worth the full price. Once it gets down to $30-$40, it'd be worth it.
Apollo Leader Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 Xbox 360 price cuts. According to an upcoming Circuit City add, the Core will drop $20, the Premium will drop $50, and the Elite will take a $30 cut to $449.99. Also, Circuit City has a buy two Xbox Live items that are $19.99 or more and get $20 off. Using this deal, you can buy two 1600 MS Point cards for just $19.99! Unfortunately, the only Circuit City in Nebraska is 50 miles away in Lincoln and ONLY the 4000 point cards are up for sale on the Circuit City website! Aaargh!
emajnthis Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 ...Unfortunately, the only Circuit City in Nebraska is 50 miles away in Lincoln and ONLY the 4000 point cards are up for sale on the Circuit City website! Aaargh! 50 miles is a long distance anywhere but Nebraska; my dad grew up there (Omaha) and i used to have to take trips there now and again for family things. 50 miles in Nebraska is the equivalent of 15 miles in DC, NYC, LA, etc. I remember my last trip there and driving from Omaha to Lincoln and only encountered three cars the whole trip during rush hour! I wouldn't mind living there if I didn't have so many attachments to where i'm at now, and i would have to buy a sports car to make the distances fun.
David Hingtgen Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 No Circuit City anywhere around here---and I could use some MS points, I'm out after my last theme purchase.
