KingNor Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 he's speaking some kind of weird language. though i did make out him saying "amedika... rubutek" i didn't hear him say "makurus" anywhere though :-( What the heck is the point of this anyway, does the robot even move? Quote
mpchi Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Don't quite see the connection between the robot and the car, other than having a Nissan emblem. Quote
Fort Max Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Looks a little like the Devilfish from E7, even has the ankle wheels. Quote
johnkillingsworth Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Huh, random project. The robot looks a little weak though Quote
Wes Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 (edited) he's speaking some kind of weird language. though i did make out him saying "amedika... rubutek" i didn't hear him say "makurus" anywhere though :-( What the heck is the point of this anyway, does the robot even move? I heard it. I think he was saying he America knew his stuff from Robotech and Macross series, but who knows. Edited May 25, 2007 by Wes Quote
gerwalk25 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 (edited) Looks pretty nifty in design IMHO. http://www2.nissan.co.jp/DUALIS/J10/0705/index.html Edited May 25, 2007 by gerwalk25 Quote
lord_breetai Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I didn't know Kawamori wrote a Macross Manga... let alone a Robotech one. Quote

Kamion Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 hehe. I almost posted the same thing! Luckily I did a search on Kawamori or the re-post police would have caught me! Quote
Hikuro Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Well.......I don't like it at all.........honestly I haven't liked much of his designs in the recent years cause they're too smooth and "earthy enviormental" esque. Not too mention, like said before, other then the nissan emblem.......where the hell do i see pieces of the car being on the robot? I can find more pieces of a car on one of the transformers then on this damn thing. Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 The motto of the car is "The Powered Suit", hence the robot. I think if it looks a little weak is because it was inspired in the car. I think it's a good design from that standpoint. It would be a failure as an anime character, but I bet Kawamori knows that. The Creatives of the Dualis campaign must be a bunch of anime geeks Quote
UN Spacy Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Neat little interview with the HORY FROATING HEAD. He rocks that sport jacket well. Quote
drifand Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 The suit is pretty nice but it has almost no visual correlation with the vehicle. IMHO, the car could have been styled with more curves, or attempted to look more like those groovy concept cars that 'never' get made. Quote
Beware of Blast Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 he's speaking some kind of weird language. though i did make out him saying "amedika... rubutek" i didn't hear him say "makurus" anywhere though :-( What the heck is the point of this anyway, does the robot even move? My speakers are konked but are you sure he said, "AMEDIKA"? Sounds more like he's from Pakistan tahn Japan. "America" "Amedika" "no, no, it's A-M-E-R-I-C-A" "Amedika" "Okay say Eric" "Eric" "Good, now say A-M-E-R-I-C-A" "A-M-E-D-I-K-A" Quote
Fit For Natalie Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I don't quite understand - is the robot supposed to be the SUV transformed, or it doesn't actually have anything to do with it other than being silver and having curving, smooth lines? Quote
drifand Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I don't quite understand - is the robot supposed to be the SUV transformed, or it doesn't actually have anything to do with it other than being silver and having curving, smooth lines? Yes. But seriously: I think Kawamori was hired to design the 'robot' as the personafication of the DUALIS car concept, which is based vaguely on the idea of a powersuit. I'm guessing the market-speak for the concept would throw around ideas of how strong the chassis is, how it wraps around the driver and becomes an extension of his mobility etc... Quote
MilSpex Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 (edited) ah KingNor, that "strange language" Kawamori is speaking is Japanese, thats because he is Japanese. The commercial started running in Japan & I saw it a few times. Its really short. The driver just transforms the car to get around traffic. He`s driving with a passenger too so I`m not sure how they both fit inside the robot. Should be up on You Tube soon I guess..? Edited May 27, 2007 by MilSpex Quote
Fit For Natalie Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 So its a transforming car. So the movie TF bots are terrible in that they don't look like their vehicle modes transformed, how? Quote
MechTech Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Dudes, don't you get it? The robot is the "alarm" system . It would suck if your remote batteries failed though... - "you have three seconds to comply..." . - MT Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Ah makes you wonder what would it have been like if SK designed some of the live action movie TF? Quote
Necron_99 Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 he's speaking some kind of weird language. ah KingNor, that "strange language" Kawamori is speaking is Japanese, thats because he is Japanese. Too funny!!! Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 (edited) I don't know if these are from the actual campaign, but here's some Dualis videos from Youtube: This one is actually very cool. It's a video of a lifesize Dualis in "robot mode": Edit: I just found this one. It's the Dualis transformig sequence. The video would've been better if somebody wouldn't have passed right in front of the camera when it was transforming. And yes, it's very short. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-tiD4oEBqU...ted&search= Edited May 28, 2007 by Lonely Soldier Boy Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 (edited) They move frighteningly quick in robot mode. Makes the car mode kinda redundant. I'd rather jump on walls and leap into the air than wait through all the traffic. Edited May 28, 2007 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote
Hikuro Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Wow, I dunno if I ever said I never impressed with any piece of Kawamori's work, but here, as a Nissan guy whose worked since out of highschool for nissan....I'm a lil embarassed. Quote
Zinjo Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 My speakers are konked but are you sure he said, "AMEDIKA"? Sounds more like he's from Pakistan tahn Japan. Quote
charger69 Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 At least a pub from the original "transforming robots country" but I still think that C4 was a better application Quote
Lord of Tetris Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I dunno, man. I'm not too impressed. This is Shoji Kawamori...he can do better. The video only goes further to indicate this robot mode has no way to transform into car mode. Looks like he just designed a robot and named it after the car. Quote
KingNor Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 theres pretty much nothin to see here folks... Quote
