i thought the post said battle breasts and figured you had a way cooler childhood than me.

i used to have a few of those. i can't remember anything about them though. either too many toys as a kid or too much tom foolery as a teenager.

There was an article about it in the recent Toyfare. It said "sunburst" ones were so rare in the US "there are no recorded sales". But I could swear I had one. Possibly with green armor---no idea what the animal was. But for years I recalled seeing a G1 Arcee at a Kay-Bee, so I know my "toy memories" aren't 100% reliable...

I loved these things!

They were small enough to fit in your pocket and play with in class without getting in trouble, and cheap enough that you could trade them with your friends like baseball cards.

And the variety really appealed to me. Yeah, it was the variety and kookiness that I really loved.

I don't think I ever managed to keep any accessories longer than a week though.

My favorite had to be the squid.

Battle Beasts you say? Simply Awesome! I remember the first time my Dad brought home a four pack (i think it was)? I was hooked. Me and my friend traded out various ones in hopes to collect all the ones we were each missing. I got pretty damn close too, but i think around that time i was already moving onto something new, which at the time if i remember was MegaForce, another under-appreciated and under-represented toyline. I guess if your toy line doesn't some kind of tie-in beyond the toys themselves it's that much harder to get recognized.

Never seen it before. These things look like Pretenders gone wrong.

I remember these little guys. I'd have my BB's fight my friends M.U.S.C.L.E. figures. I remember the commercial.

The only thing I remember about these is that they guest-starred on an episode of Transformers: Headmasters. Hey Ladic, you met Jenna Haze!?. Damn, you lucky sonavagun!

They also showed up in an issue of the Dreamwave comics IIRC.

I loved the shark and the squid when I was little.

One of my friends will take to his grave his insistance that his friend had a G1 Headmaster Arcee toy when they were kids.

As for the Battle Beasts, I got this shark playset thing with a white lion figure as a gift but I must not have liked it that much because I never asked for any additional figures. They actually seem more cool to me now than they did then.

Well I have a friend who claims that he used to own a Prototype G1 Unicron... and he's sticking to that story.
