EXO Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 a few people asked if Animepunch is down, it works for some but not for others due to server issues. But http://www.animepunch.net/forums is working fine... please give that a try instead. wow... that looks like a spam post... hehe. Quote
dr_vandermeer Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Goog to know. I was wondering what the hell happened. Quote
Roy Focker Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I gave it a try and it does work except when I login. Once I do that it switches to .com Quote
EXO Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 That happens to me at home on Explorer, but not on Firefox. Quote
EXO Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 from mindy you can try to use animepunch.net as the link... if it moves you to animepunch.com, just change the domain name back to .net Quote
pfunk Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 from mindy I noticed that some of the links are still .com Quote
Hurin Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Did they just decide not to renew the .com domain? I'm seeing one of those "cyber squatter" generic search pages now resident at animepunch.com. I suppose it could be a DNS hijack. Or perhaps a lapsed registration that someone gobbled up? Quote
Otaku-Smeghead Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) I noticed that some of the links are still .com For a minute there I thought it was the Library that was re directing the page some censor thingy. Good to know its not just me. Edit: I tried .net/forums when I log on I get the .com cyber squatter page http://animepunch.com/forums/index.php?sid...1b8328471c2b54d Edited March 28, 2007 by Otaku-Smeghead Quote
Hurin Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Please be aware that if the DNS for .com is hijacked, and you input your credentials to log in at the .net forum. . . . but a non-relative link shunts you back to .com, your credentials could be intercepted by the .com "squatter/hijacker." Of course, I could be wrong and this may not be a DNS hijack situation or anything nefarious. And, if your animepunch username and password aren't the same as your credentials for any other site, then damage would be negligable/minimal. But, why not wait a little bit until we know more. Quote
Hurin Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Via some nslookups and some whoising, here's what it looks like to me. But I could be interpreting things wrong! It looks like the domain name for the .com domain lapsed. And someone grabbed it: Registrar: ENOM, INC. Domain Name: ANIMEPUNCH.COM Registrar: ENOM, INC. Updated Date: 27-mar-2007 Creation Date: 26-mar-2004 Expiration Date: 26-mar-2008 So, judging by the expiration date (a year from yesterday), someone probably (re)registered ANIMEPUNCH.COM yesterday. .Net is still the same as it ever was. Domain Name: ANIMEPUNCH.NET Registrar: TUCOWS INC. Whois Server: whois.opensrs.net Referral URL: http://domainhelp.tucows.com Name Server: NS1.BLUEHOST.COM Name Server: NS2.BLUEHOST.COM Status: clientTransferProhibited Status: clientUpdateProhibited Updated Date: 28-mar-2007 Creation Date: 18-may-2004 Expiration Date: 18-may-2007 So, unless this was intentional on the part of the AP guys, or it's actually them just using a new registrar that accidentally messed up their DNS, it looks like someone swooped in and took .COM away from them. Again, could be wrong. H Quote
fulcy Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 As posted by SR on AnimePunch (I can access it from work, but not home): registerfly failed to "Auto" renew the Domain, we renewed the .com domain yesterday, i think it takes time for the .com to re-propagate through the internet... Quote
Hurin Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 As posted by SR on AnimePunch (I can access it from work, but not home): Okey doke. This is when I'm glad that I pepper my posts with "could be wrong, though." Odd that the "cyper squatter"-type placeholder page is there though. Quote
areaseven Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 (edited) AP Forums are down again. EDIT: Never mind. Dome debugging issue solved. Edited June 25, 2007 by areaseven Quote
Dangard Ace Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 AP forums having problems since yesterday. Quote
Mr March Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Yeah, Son Riku says it's a problem with Yahoo search bots. I'm able to get on today and yesterday evening wasn't bad. I suspect the holiday weekend here in Canada may have had something to do with it. Internet was noticibly slow for the past three days. Quote
Dangard Ace Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 And I just got the bluehost crap page again. "This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota" Ah well, as long as SonRiku is working on it... Quote
Mr March Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Lousy. Hopefully they solve the problem soon. I think SR is considering banning the Yahoo bots. Quote
emajnthis Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 "phpBB : Critical Error Could not connect to the database" ???? Quote
pfunk Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I get that quite often, just try and try again Quote
Mr March Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Yeah, what the heck was that? It wasn't the usual "this server has exceeded it's bandwidth" crap. It was site-wide downage for the whole day Quote
Mr March Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Doesn't look like it. It was back online for a couple days, but it's been down all evening. Quote
deadghost Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 OH GOD, how will I look at the cosplay girls, wait google wait but man-faye will appear. Quote
