So a new Macross series is apparently on the horizon. Yamato has been making the most detailed macross toys in recent years, while bandai hasn't done a thing aside reissue the old takatokus. Nonetheless, a lot of us stilll crave bandais and wait eternally for reissues of the DYRL Strike, Elint, Super O and other precious commodities to make sure our missing childhoods are finally complete. Along the line while yamato gives us new stuff on a yearly constant basis, we often wonder, "what could bandai do with all their experience and modernized stuff, where is our SOC quality valkyries or MG macross, when can they let gundam rest for a week and give us a line of Macross stuff, where is the love?".

Yamato gives us great detail and aesthetics that so far has been unmatched by any other macross toy company. Bandai gives us the venerable durability/near indestructability of takatoku plus gloss paint and painted details for the most part but has neglected to give a modern take on the valkyrie, instead relying on reissueing 20 year old molds. One wonders though, what they are really capable of. I often wonder what a company out of left field to macross like CM or takara could do, takara has a lot of experience making transformable mecha and at a more afforable price as well.

So with that said. At this point no one really knows if anyone is even going to make toys for the new macross series. BUT. If you had a choice, which company would you want to be making your toys? Discuss!

I'd like to see some downsized transformable toys made by another company. As much as I love my Yamato's, they keep getting larger when I'd prefer they get smaller. Still, it's hard to go wrong with Yamato. They done so well for Macross in these last few years, how can one really complain? Before we were stuck with those awful Bandai's but now we have transformables that look so much more like the anime.

Also, I have to say those Revoltech figures are pretty damn cool. I wouldn't mind a non-variable Revoltech battroid, just as a low-cost, small and easy to display figure.

Bandai, always wanted a MG and EMSIA VF and I don`t mind Takara too after I bought their THS-02 Convoy simply amazing and they are old in the business like Bandai. CM is a welcome since they made a well received chogokin Patlabor and the upcoming Legioss - Tread set.

As for Tomato - Yamato no thanks.

Where is the multi-ball choice??? All of them. Just like Eva, everyone.

This series will be the sh*t, everyone will want Macross pie. Gundam? PFFT!

Macross will be king.. AGAIN.

I want to see what the sleeping giant bandai can do. The last new thing they ever did to the VF-1 was the HCM back in the mid 80's. Its been more than 20 years since then, I wonder what they can do now. I mean hell I'd like to see SOMETHING new from them for once relating to macross.

Make mine Yamato!!!!!!

Bandai's turned their back on Macross already. F$%K em.

Yamato's done everything they can to please the fans. I'm in their court.

Make mine a Yamato as well. Bandai's got Gundam among other things to worry about. I'd rather Yamato continue with the license. For the most part they've done some pretty amazing things so far.

Yamato for me....but Yah I think bandai have turn their backs on macross, otherwise they would have applied those SOC qualities on macross. Those SOC's are simply breathtaking. IHMO

I don't really car which companu makes the new toys as long as they are well built and durable.

Though I must say Yamato will be hard to surpass.

Voted for YAMATO, considering their track record for the last few years. It would be nice to get some new macross-related toys and for them to have the same quality as the most recent 1/48's or 1/60's. But of course, if the upcoming MOSPEADA related stuff from CM's turns out to be of high quality overall, then I wouldn't mind if they put out toys based on the new MAC series, too.

Yamato has done a great job. I'm very happy with the valks I've gotten from them.

If Bandai or somebody else comes along and produce great stuff then I'll buy

from them also.

Seeing how Bandai is a bigger company maybe the overall cost to

the consumer will be less. either way more is better.

I put Yamato. They have done a few idiotic things, but overall I still like it.

Bandai? Nothing new. That's a big problem.

As for the others like Max Factory, I'm not too knowledgeable in all the things they release, much less transformable valks of detail and quality. I know some manufacturers have put in transformable valks... but they're models.

As usual Graham knows something but can't tell us about it. :(

I voted Yamato because I like continuity in my toys.

I say competition is a good thing for consumer.

Let Yamato take care of the perfact change Macross while other die-cast specialists like Bandai, CM, Aoshima, etc., give us kick-ass sculpted metal Valks with weight and shinny paint!!!!

BANDAI - Their quality, while not 100% perfect, is still a lot more reliable and predictable compared to Yamato. Maybe they'll just buy over Yamato and apply some real checks on their short-sighted design processes!

Bandai, even though I doubt that would happen.

For the most part Yamato has done a good job but lately their projects are more costly with more defects.

Actually I'd like to see moderately priced Macross toys. Its either high priced toys or cheap crappy gashapons. There's no middle ground.

I've been wondering this a lot myself lately, Bandai has recently started two (count em) lines that would be perfect for some new Macross product. They have the "Real Robot Revolution" plastic kit line which is pretty much Master Grades in all but name of 80's Real robots. That seems like a pretty good fit to me and while we all believe that Bandai hates Macross they are certainly not ones to pass up an anniversary as an opportunity for some quick cash. Not to mention that there is a whole lot of interest in reviving 80's mecha shows at the moment in general.

The other line I could see delivering some new VF goodies is their spin off from the Soul of Chogokin line, "SOC Sec", only two toys have been released so far hut both were modern robots (Eva 01 and Lazyner), an SOC Valk complete with FAST packs and all weapons that retailed for under 10k yen would be a dream toy for me. :D

Also worth mentioning is the HCM Pro line, a while back Bandai had a little poll asking in what ways people would like to see the line expanded. One of the proposals was the (shocking) suggestion of making something other then Gundam mechs and lo and behold, Macross was one of the choices so it looks a sthough Bandai hasn't lost faith in it completely.

And don`t forget their new action figure line In Action! Offshoot which the same like the EMSIA but for other robot shows.

i voted for someone new.

i'm kind of tired of paying out the ass for yamatos and you know bandai isn't gonna do anything.

while yamato usually gets the praise, cm new legioss/tread is inspiring and waves SDF-1 seems to getting some high marks.

we need some new blood if we're going to get better products and more competitive prices.

I guess Yamato just to keep things all in the family but I would like to see Takara do something. Kawamori has already worked with them in designing TFs for them so why not continue that relationship and make some Macross toys. They would be MP quality and if they use MP style boxes then they won't be crazy huge like Yamato's.

Of course then we'd have to figure out a way for Graham to get the inside info.

I completely agree! As much as I enjoy Yamato I'd like them to have some real competition for my monies and us the fans to get more of a selection too. :p
