robodragon Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Hi all. I have started the conversion of my Yamato 1/60 VF-0A into a VF-0D. So far I have just painted. I plan on moving the tail fins into the outer edge of the legs. That should be easy. The hard part is making the new wings and the intake stabilizers. Anyway here are the pics of the new paint job. Batou Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 How do you plan on modifying the cockpit and canopy? Or should we just stay tuned? Quote
UN Spacy Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 You've got brass ones for undertaking this kind of a conversion. Awesome. Quote
Guest sh002 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 great to see how it will turn out but it looks good like this too Quote
Dante74 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I'd be happy with just the paintjob! Looks beautiful. Quote
Guppy Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 nice work! And I like how you were lazy on the leg lines because it's covered by the leg armor anyway. Work smart, not hard! Quote
penachoy Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Wow amazing paint job robodragon! We all cant wait to see the final masterpiece! Quote
Knight26 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Nice, if you get this to work you'll have to recast the peices, I might actually by a VF-0A just to get it made into a VF-0D then. Quote
kensei Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 You got guts to take on such an ambitious project. I must say that with your shown skills so far, you may be able to pull it off. Well done. I can't wait to see the final results. Don't forget to change the eye colour of the head to red. Quote
Mowe Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Good man, might as well make use of and experiment with the 1st issue of VF-0A. Quote
do not disturb Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 awesome, can't wait to see how it turns out. Quote
Lonewolf Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Nice paint job so far, but I can see the original paint "bleeding" through your new one. Good luck on your project. Quote
big F Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 In a world where most are scared to take them out of the box, you got some stones there. Good luck and great work so far. Quote
robodragon Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 (edited) "How do you plan on modifying the cockpit and canopy? Or should we just stay tuned?" I think I'm not going to hit that one. I will leave it a single seater . "nice work! And I like how you were lazy on the leg lines because it's covered by the leg armor anyway. Work smart, not hard!" That was done intentionally. The pic on the VF-0d model box looked wavy to me not clean. "Nice, if you get this to work you'll have to recast the peices, I might actually by a VF-0A just to get it made into a VF-0D then?" I was just think about this. After I cast the wings and the stabilizers I will probable sell kits with instructions. I just have to the cast first, which will be new to me so may take some time. "Nice paint job so far, but I can see the original paint "bleeding" through your new one." That is some of the new paint you see. I did a special mix for my HAG. VF-0D model which I used for the VF-0A conversion. To get this color I mixed Light Grey with Dark Grey and finally Bright Blue. it does have some Grey striking that shows through on photos but looks better in person. Man I was having a tough time getting the Quotes to work Edited March 1, 2007 by robodragon Quote
robodragon Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 Took Some pics in the diffrent modes. Quote
KiriK Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 great paint job so far... looks clean and simple..... i love it...! Quote
Graham Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Are you planning to sculpt a new head? The 'D' head is different from the 'A' head. Graham Quote
robodragon Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 Are you planning to sculpt a new head? The 'D' head is different from the 'A' head. Yes I would like to make the new head but I will wait until I get through the wing first. I think I would beable to use the VF-0A for the cast then make the changes with epoxy and sanding. Quote
promethuem5 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 The paint job looks slick so far, but I'm far more interested in your plans for the actual mods... got anything on paper yet? Quote
Dante74 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 How's this project coming along? Any updates yet? Quote
