bravo5 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I want to make a flight deck diorama with my 1/60 macross zero valks and other aircraft, but can't seem to find a good scale. 1/72 is slightly smaller while 1/48 is just a little too big. I was wondering if anyone came across another scale that works better. Thanks for the help. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 There are no other scales. 1/60 is pretty darn near exclusive to Yamato and Takara's MP Starscream. It's a "compromise" scale between 1/48 and 1/72---but no model kits are built to it, and likely never will be. I would go with 1/72, because the VF-1 isn't that big of a fighter---it'll look bigger with the 1/72 stuff around it. If you went with 1/48, a small plane will look even smaller. Quote
mechaninac Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 The only stuff you are likely to find in 1/60 scale are white metal gaming figurines; but those won't help with creating a flight deck diorama. Quote
Fly4victory Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Haven't found any figures but the SH-60 would look nice after some light gull gray touch-up to cover the US Navy markings then add UN Spacy and the Red Macross Kite on the tail. Plan to do the custom after I move but happy to share the idea. http://www.flyingmule.com/products/NR-25587 Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 That's gotta be 'box scale'. Or possibly "matching size instead of scale". Quote
bravo5 Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 On the same page with you Fly4victory, I got one a while back for $5. Also found some of the Corgi Tactical strike is pretty close at 1/64. The tactical strike doesn't offer much for a flight deck diorama, but will come in handy for an assault one. Quote
baltek Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 And what about the warhammer 40000 figures? they represent futuristic marine troops. I'm not sure about the scale of these figures but they seem to be close to the 1/48 scale. Has anybody tried those figures before? Quote
Fly4victory Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Sounds like and excellent idea. Do you have a web link? Thanks.
