Kurisama Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Although Macross II was utter shite, I still really dig the Icarus and VF-2SS, and the civilian one too! I think they'd be a good addition, but agree - it's not the highest priority. If u need hi rez line art for them - i think i have a few.
grapetang Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Congrats on the anniversary and thanks for the great update! Looking forward to many more!
Mr March Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 VF5SS I want to add some more game entries, but I usually focus on the mecha that don't appear anywher else. THere's not much point in priotitizing duplicate entries just for the sake of completion. If it looks different, that's what I want to add first. briscojr84 My mistake. I thought last time we'd spoken about scans I'd asked for the VF-2SS from Macross II but there was a problem. Regardless, we should proceed with a VF-2SS batch of scans and make a proper profile for that mecha. Zinjief Really? I must say that I've totally forgotten. Well, we will organize something. We should be able to sneek in a bit of Macross II before Frontier gets well underway. Kurisama Well, the quality of the productions is not as much of a factor as it once was when I first started. I also hate Macross 7, but now that most of the really good Macross stuff from SDFM, DYRL, FB2012, M+, and M0 is all complete, I can do the shite last I think we've got Macross II scans covered, but we'll see who is most motivated to submit first GGemini Thanks. And thanks for your help as well. grapetang Merci. Make sure to keep visiting.
vermillion01 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 (edited) I just had chance to go through the site, and i'm digging it!!!! it looks great. You can see the time and effort thats been put into this! Welcome back Marchy! u do good work. Edit - found this while cleaning my hard drives... any use? Edited February 15, 2008 by vermillion01
briscojr84 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 briscojr84 My mistake. I thought last time we'd spoken about scans I'd asked for the VF-2SS from Macross II but there was a problem. Regardless, we should proceed with a VF-2SS batch of scans and make a proper profile for that mecha. No loss of a computer with the proper drives for scanner were the problem at that time I believe, and I'll see what I can scan up tomorrow, things have been hectic, first christmas, then new register system and now we have inventory coming up, and I've also had to cover for the furniture manager alot since she's about 7 months pregnant now.

I wish I had seen this before I risked life and limb playing this awful game haha. There is one minor difference in that in space it's a Strike VF-1A. I did get a shot of the Valhalla III at least.
Kurisama Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Edit - found this while cleaning my hard drives... any use? Vermillion01 - I could kiss you. Been looking for some good consistent schematics for the VF-2SS... now off to model one... MU-HUH-HAH-HAAAA!!! Have you got the Icarus too me wonders>?
Mr March Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 vermillion01 Nice picture. The individual drawings are too small, but I'll save it all for reference. It's a very nice wallpaper. briscojr84 Not a problem. We don't have much to do anyway. The VF-2SS will be the biggest job to scan for Macross II. Everything else will be just one shot. VF5SS Interesting pictures. What class is the Valhalla?

Sentinel-Class, it's a variable carrier, holds around six VF's, splits in half to launch the VF's and a large arm grabs each VF as it's ready to launch. I've got a bunch of pics I can scan in for it as well.
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) Here are some old images for reference on my HD (not the greatest quality mind): transformation: Too bad yamato won't be able to make one of these in toy form. Why can't they just get kawamori drunk, make him sign something saying he's ok with making the toy, and then quickly make it without him remembering anything? Edited February 16, 2008 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker
Kurisama Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 So are there no top/bottom - side - front/back schematic views that exist of the VF2JA Icarus?
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Not that I'd have. Anyone else out there?
Mr March Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 I already have these scans from Briscojr84. But thanks for the submission anyway.
Morpheus Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Mr.March, just some comment on the Game section for the VFX-II. There's a VF-17 variation colored in red equipped with a jamming system, maybe you can add it to the description.
Zinjo Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 So are there no top/bottom - side - front/back schematic views that exist of the VF2JA Icarus? The schematics were done by a fan in illustrator. Probably from the Mac II RPG group.
Mr March Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 Updated the VF-25 Full Armor entry with the new pictures from the Macross Frontier website. morpheus I'd probably need to make a new profile for that. Do you have any screen shots of this red VF-17D?
Morpheus Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 morpheus I'd probably need to make a new profile for that. Do you have any screen shots of this red VF-17D? Let see, I'll try to find one, its a red VF-17S, piloted by Manfredo Brando (?) the leader of the Critical Path Corporation.

I'll have to see what I have as well, although I think it's more of a burgundy/maroon than red.
Sorata Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) Mr March here are some badly done pics of the VF-17 that I did back when you were doing the VF-11 for VFX-2. Ill see if I can find some better ones. Edited March 3, 2008 by Sorata
Mr March Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 omg Glad you enjoyed it. Sorata These are sufficient. It's basically just a red VF-17S with a few customized yellow highlights. SHould be easy enough to make.
StrangeWill Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 (edited) I have nothing against including Macross II on the M3, it's just the lowest priority of the franchise. I also have no access to Macross II line art and I don't think briscojr84 does anymore either. I'm also very unfamiliar with Macross II. I saw it only once or twice years years ago and didn't like it (thus I don't own it). The near total lack of official statistics for the MII mecha also makes building profiles very hard. It's likely worth doing a proper profile for the VF-2SS (especially because of fan interest). I might do a rudimentary section that just features one b&w drawing of each Macross II mecha and very short profiles, like the VEFR-1 profile but without the stats or text. There's just so little to work with; I think Kawamori put more thought into the official mecha statistics of the Flashback 2012 music video than the creators of Macross II gave for their whole anime Dang, a little disappointed here, as much as it's practically unbearable to watch for me, now that I understand the story line (blargh!), I definitely wanted to touch base with some ships and scenes from the movie without you know... having to hunt down and watch it... Though it's understandable, I can't find anything on the net about Macross II. I think it should be added on the site FAQ, being as I was really confused about why there was no Macross II material, the site didn't mention it period... was wondering if Macross II was just an entire delusion (it may be better that way). Hit the site from page 1 through google looking up the atmospheric escape booster, and dug around a bit. Decided to come back here to see what this site had to offer in terms of Macross II material, and lo and behold, found this thread. Also would you by chance have ever worked on a Homeworld Macross project? Err and totally bumping a couple month old thread. ;P Edited May 17, 2008 by StrangeWill
Mr March Posted May 17, 2008 Author Posted May 17, 2008 Like I said, the Macross II mecha was simply a low priority, but I am going to feature a section for it. If you look at the history of the Macross Mecha Manual, you'll note that not all the anime shows had sections for the longest time. It takes a while to do all this work. Nonetheless, Macross II will make an appearance next update, which I'm hoping to release very soon.

Also great job on the site, I really enjoyed looking up ships and getting information on them.
Mr March Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) May 22, 2008 MAJOR UPDATE! This update of the Macross Mecha Manual features 33 new profiles. The focus for this update is revision to the Macross Frontier profiles, completing the profiles for large space ships and introduction of the Macross II section. The front page has been reorganized to accommodate the new Macross II Index Button and to help maintain a smooth page layout the For Fans Only section has graduated to a large Index Button. Experimenting with Photoshop, I've found a better method to color for glass. As a result, I've re-finished several large ships with domes and transparent enclosures that were initially poorly colored. The Macross 7, Macross 5, Riviera Resort Ship and the Megaroad-01 (including the Flashback 2012 Banner) have all been updated with new colors. Lastly, the Header and Footer Menu Bars have been replaced in every profile, thus creating a common button style across the whole website (thanks again to Dante74 of the Macross World forums). Refer to the list below for all the new profiles in this update. Master Dex Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Nice Mr March, I've always liked this site, keep up the good work.
Proto Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Thanks also. Perfect substitution for my lost Macross Perfect Memory book,
Neova Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Wow... Great update and so many customs to make... sigh... Still don't see the Vahalla in there. Keep it up!
Dante74 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Wow, this update is a lot bigger than I expected, great job March! I like how you referenced the background color for the MII section on the link button of the index page, great idea.
Mr March Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) Thanks for visiting everyone. I'm glad you're all enjoying the site. Make sure to visit the updated art for the older profiles and be sure to share the address for the M3 with all your friends and "potential" fans. It's great way to get mecha fans interested in Macross Neova There's always something... Dante74 Yeah, I'm kinda reaching the end. Looks like this will be the last big update. I'm glad you like the color code for the MII Index Button. You're like the only person who would notice that Edited May 23, 2008 by Mr March
Sulendil Ang Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Yeah! My favorite site get an update again. BTW, thanks for making the For Fan Only section a new picture link. That will helps fans to stop asking silly question like "what's the difference between VF-11B and VF-11C" just like I did earlier in the newbie thread. Oh, March, do you think how big a chance you will create profiles from Advance Valkyrie lines? I really like some of the designs from that series, and it may also helps to explain the origin of some valks design in some game.
