dafunguy Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Happy New Year! The year 2006 was one of the best years for Yamato Macross toys. They threw almost everything at us ... VF-1 Low Viz camo, Low Viz camo GBP, VF-1 super stealth (along with the biggest toy box ever made), Angel Birds, green VF-1 of that fat guy that got [spoiler ALERT] killed, display stands (with ipod nano colors), VF-0S (which gave us the term "floppiness"), VF-0A, YF-19 (with the infamous crooked gunpod!!!). There were just one good annoucement after another and that made for a very exciting year. These were all released this year, right??? Of all these Yamato toys released this year, which one was your favorite? As much as I like the YF-19, my vote goes to the VF-0A. The YF-19 could have been my favorite, but it was not perfect. The VF-0A on the other hand is close to perfection. It looks good in all 3 modes, all the QC issues from the 0S have been addressed, the color looks great, the details are awesome (rotating seat, feet exhast, etc), innovative transformation that does not require going to the gym, and it just plain looks cool. Here's hoping for an exiting 2007! Now it's time for me to party soon and I'll check back next year! Remember, don't drink and then try to transform a YF-19 (you will be sorry in the morning)!!! Hahahaha. Added Poll as requested. Quote
Wicked Ace Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 green VF-1 of that fat guy LMAO! This should have been one of the poll choices. Quote
eugimon Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I voted for the 0a. Even with the new reports of breakage... imo, it looks awesome in all three modes and looks spot on with the anime. it was tough though, the yf-19 just looks amazing as well. Quote
Dante74 Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I voted 0A. IMO it's the best rendition of a VF Yamato has done to date. That and the fact that I don't have a 19 yet made the 0A an easy winner for me. Quote
Veritas Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I went with 0A as well. Although i love how the new 19 looks, the 0A is such a great toy and i'm really biased towards that paint scheme. Quote
UN Spacy Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 YF-19 hands down. It's the one VF we've ALL been waiting for and I don't think ANY of us were expecting it when the news broke. Quote
kensei Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Yep. YF-19. It's good. Has a few little quicks, but what toy doesn't? Quote
Dante74 Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Yep. YF-19. It's good. Has a few little quicks, but what toy doesn't? Correction. What Yamato toy doesn't? Quote
lechuck Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 (edited) I voted YF-19. It look great and it's joints are tight - that's worth a million votes already! I don't have a 0A but the floppiness of my 0S has left me some what dissatisfied with the Valk and is my least favourite in my collection at the moment. Edited December 31, 2006 by lechuck Quote
mister_e Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I went with the VF-1 I know the VF-1 doesn't stand a chance in this poll as many people seem to be tired of the design. But the VF-1 is THE design that defines Macross. When I think of Macross (or Robotech), I think of the VF-1. I will NEVER get tired of the VF-1. I know everyone is in puppy love with these new toys (the VF-0 and YF-19), but when that fades, the VF-1 will still be there. So, while I very much love my new YF-19 and look forward to picking up a VF-0 when the Shin/Ghost bundle is released, the VF-1 is and will always be my favorite. I will not be satisfied with Yamato until they give us two-seater VF-1's and re-release the TV Super VF-1J's. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I voted for the 1/48 VF-1, I just got a super stealth and that thing is perfect, no floppiness, no crooked gunpod, perfect transformation, extra clown hands, removable panels, extra missiles and pods, that thing just has everything... I would say the VF-0 close second, I can feel it looking great even when I'm not looking at it... YF-19, crooked gunpod ruins it for me, I don't know how many years making it perfect and they can't get a gunpod to stay still in a $160+ toy, c'mon! Quote
Sumdumgai Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 19. I've been waiting for a good rendition of the 19 in toy form since I saw M+ around 94 or 95. Skipped out on the old Yamato one since I thought it didn't look good enough, and I had already bought a Bandai Fire Valkyrie which it only looked slightly better than. I'm hoping for a VF-11, YF-21, and VF-4 or VF-14 in 2007! Quote
jenius Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I went with the VF-1. We got the Stealth and LVII non-canon valks last year and while I completely shunned them here on the boards I really warmed up to them once I actually had them in hand. The 0A would probably get my vote for next year. This year we only got a flawed 0S and a 0A with shoulder issues and no name (not even CF!). Next year it'll probably be a rock 'em sock 'em brawl between Shin's 0A and the VF-19A Quote
Sebastian Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 YF 19, despite the Gunpod the Toy is so really nicelly done, the amount of work Yamato people put on this "puppy" really was outstanding. The VF 0A is also just beautifull, and the VF 1 line is a solid "chunky monkey" compared with the new releases, IMO they are all great (not considering the VF 0S) but the YF 19 was definetelly the BEST thing Yamato made on 2006, and I can say the best EVER in terms of design and quality. Quote
kensei Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 If there was a "Most Solid Yamato Design" Award, it would be the 1/48 VF-1 for sure. Quote
Arthurius Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 (edited) My Vote is on vf-0a and vf-1s roy on first, and vf-1j stealth on second. Vf-0a, mine anyways, has perfect joints everywhere, exept maybe the right fingers, but that doesnt infuence it. This is my favorate color scheme (and whitout the white stripes the shin will be getting), and I am always looking at it. Vf-1s Roy. This is what you really always wanted as a younger kid, not the yf-19, macross plus didnt even exist back then in the 80s. Plus, it is the solidness that makes yamato toy my favorate toy. Also, he the best looking head imo of course. If people had to buy one, AND ONLY one yamato, you know it would be the vf-1s ROY (well, actually, it might be between this one and yf-19). Vf-1j Stealth. Solid and Dark color, exellent valk. I use this color scheme on some of my Gundam models, and the look nice. I dont have the yf-19, so i cant comment on it. I am sure its a good one. I know i would wait for 2nd or 3rd release before considering, or if they simply made a low vis version of it. Wish for Futur: 3 actually. A black or gray scheme (sorta like low vis 1 or stealth) vf-1s/yf-19/yf-21. I would buy in that order. Only problem is money, and ROOM!!!! Thx Yamato for the nice toys. Edited December 31, 2006 by Arthurius Quote
kanedaestes Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Seeing as how the 19 is my favorite all time mech, and seeing as how i have one, and despite all the issues in love it and can't put it down i am going with the..........19 duh. I thinks its amazing and would gladly buy another, one for fighter one for battroid so i can keep them in both modes. And when i get a launch arm i will buy another for gerwalk mode. Its hard to keep it up without one cause its so front heavy Quote
Crazy Canuck II Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 While the VF-0 may be the most anime accurate and the YF-19 my be most impressive considering the level of anime magic in Kawamori's design, I had to vote for the 1/48 VF-1 (low vis II). Call it nostalgia, but I still love the VF-1. And even though the choices of colors for the camo on the low vis II could have been better, it still fulfilled a boyhood dream I had ever since I saw the revell robotech camo vf-1 model. http://www.robotechmuseum.com/models/30.jpg Quote
mister_e Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I cringe every time I see the box art for that model. The backwards legs is just disgraceful Quote
Bub Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Voting for VF-1 1/48. Yamato, give us the VT and VE in their 1/48 glory!!! Quote
dizman Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I'd have to go with the YF-19. It's pretty much perfect, though I do love my LVII. Quote
Mechafan Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I voted for the VF-1. The Stealth did it for me. Still waiting for Yamato to make the YF-21 in 1/60 scale. Quote
rick dieck Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 i always go for the vf 1 1/48 my favorite, and the most important valks of all times....yamato please give us the two seaters please??? Quote
doodler7 Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I first Macross toy I saw was a 1/55 VF-1J when I was seven years old. I voted for VF-1. It's da plane stands out the most as Macross...and has most accessories. It's solid. I don't like the scrawny biceps on the VF-0 and YF-19...maybe if they're 1/48 scale, I'd have a different opinion. But.... soon as that big 1/60 YF-21 mutha comes, for me, nothing will compare. IMO And then of course the '2' seater 1/48 valks come, and then it's VF-1 loving all over again! hehe For this year i voted for the YF-19. Next year it will probably be Shin's VF-0a, a YF-21 woulld be nicer! I WANT MY VT YAMATO! Edited January 2, 2007 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
Remember Love Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 my vote is for the 1/60 Perfect tranform Vf-0A, S ... and it is a hottie when it is at plane, gerwalk, robo mode... Quote
Godzilla Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 As much as I love the VF-1, I have to say for THIS year, it would be the yf-19. Quote
lechuck Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Personally I don't even think the 1/48 VF-1 should have been listed for this pole. It's not a new Valk type that was released this year and re-colours don't make it any newer either... Quote
myk Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 But.... soon as that big 1/60 YF-21 mutha comes, for me, nothing will compare. IMO Amen, brudda... Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I slightly prefer the VF-0A/S over the YF-19. I love the YF-19 but the VF-0S is very solid in it's three modes. I loved the gerwalk pics of the YF19, but after receiving mine and putting it next to the VF-0S it is sorta bland. Fighter and battroid are pure mecha porn though!!! If and when the YF-21 hits the streets, there's gonna be no contenders Quote
Lonewolf Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 1/60 YF-19 all the way. It's been my favorite valkyrie for ever since I first saw Macross Plus. Quote
dafunguy Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 Personally I don't even think the 1/48 VF-1 should have been listed for this pole. It's not a new Valk type that was released this year and re-colours don't make it any newer either... It's not a new Valk, but it is still an all time favorite for many people ... even in 2006. This just shows how iconic, classic, sturdy, and well built this Valk really is. Quote
rick dieck Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 believe me people, when I say the vf 1 1:48 is the best of all times, even when other new valks come around, they never could challenge the original design of the vf1 and of course never fill the space of our hearts!!!!!!the people will always return to our beloved Vf 1 Quote
Wicked Ace Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 (edited) This thread is very interesting in that the replies indicate for the most part that people are not sick of the VF-1 and will continue to purchase them. Edited January 6, 2007 by Wicked Ace Quote
Scream Man Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I know i will. Its a gorgeous toy. i like the experimental schemes Yamato has been doing; I have to get around to getting a stealth and i love both of the Low Viz's i own. Quote
