Nightbat Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 (edited) AD 2031 -. Before the mankind who continues prosperity, suspicious looking life body "Hardy who appears un". And, that multiplied a certain day, as suddenly, started attacking to the mankind! That "Hardy un" ....................................................................... Hardon? Hard one? Well, there go my chances of percieving this anime as more that a bad 70's porn flick Edited December 31, 2006 by Nightbat Quote
rikiryou Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 (edited) 'AD 2031 Life "Hardy Ann" of the appearing strange appearance in front of the human race who keeps prospering. And, it proliferated suddenly, and began to attack the human race on a certain day. A fighter pilot and Shuu Aiba of "N.I.D.F." organized to investigate the "Hardy Ann", and to defend the human race are rolled in the fight with "Hardy Ann" ・・・ and, N.I.D.F . What is the mystery of "Dead' books" that remains in the legend that science chief's Yuno Rikuna reaches at last in the middle of the investigation? And, the relation to "Hardy Ann"? A sublime war that bets the human race continuing starts now.' Excite's translation (which over the years I've found to be actually pretty good) seems to make much more sense. So, it's the Hardian? Hardy Ann? Hardy Un? Lol. I'd go with Hardian, reads less wacky. Edited December 31, 2006 by rikiryou Quote
sketchley Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 ãƒãƒ¼ãƒ‡ã‚£ã‚¢ãƒ³ = Haadian (Hah-diane). Excite isn't very accurate either. My wife (Japanese) recommends this: http://www.alc.co.jp/ Though, one has to have at least a working grasp of Japanese in able to use it. One must also remember that Japanese does not have articles, so when translating, articles have to be added. Eg: The strange looking life(form) "Haadian" appeared in front of the ever prospering human race in 2031 AD. Quote
Macross73 Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 so aliens invade and humans fight back? very original plot. theres a princess /scientist too? so no king or queen scientists? but they have a unified defense force. I like the mecha though. Quote
cyde01 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 (edited) hahahaha babel fish always cracks me up. it seems like you guys were able to peace together the general meaning of the intro tho. my guess for the romanization of the baddie would be "hardian." "hardian" is only described as a "strange lifeform" that appears and one day multiplies and attacks mankind. NIDF apparently is a special ops task force created by the "international defense agency" specifically for studying the hardian. Shuu Aiba (pronounced shoe) is a fighter pilot of NIDF who gets engulfed in the conflict. Yuno Rukina is not a princess, but one of the kanji making up her last name is the kanji for princess. she is the chief scientist for NIDF and her studies of the "hardian" lead her to the "Book of the Dead." in the character description page it says that Shuu receives the "Book of the Dead" from Yuno and that Yuno "uses the book" on Shuu. .......i think i'm gonna pass on this series Edited January 4, 2007 by cyde01 Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 (edited) Kawamori really did it this time ... Evil Dead Macross ... Edited January 4, 2007 by Black Valkyrie Quote
Dante74 Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 The more I look at that YF-19/VF-4 crossover, the more I'm convinced that the drugs finally got to Kawamori's brain and he lost the ability to think creatively. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the YF-19 or the VF-4, they're both classics, but this mix of those two designs is just too obvious. Couldn't he have put in a little more effort and come up with something original? Quote
UN Spacy Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Is that a ORGUSS looking design in the upper left hand corner? Did Miyatake have anything to do with this series? Quote
Sevket_Erhat Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Looks promising even though I'm not into the character designs too Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 (edited) I'm a sucker for transforming mecha action, so I wanna see this (first on You Tube, of course). Rarely an anime plot gets my attention these days tho', so I'm not expecting this one to blow my mind or anything. The character design is very poor in my opinion. The premise (as far as we know) is a poor one too and the mecha designs... Well I'll just wait until I see those in action. All in all I'd say it's gonna be another forgettable anime flick. Edited January 12, 2007 by Lonely Soldier Boy Quote
UN Spacy Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 LOL. Can we all lay off the character designs UNTIL the first episode is out? I'm pretty sure I saw the same complaints before Eureka Seven premiered. Quote
wolfx Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Read this in my a local magazine. Shall do a rough translation: 2031. The human race has prospered. But even so a new life form has appeared, the "Hadian". One day, this life form multiplied and attacked humans. The organisation that researches the life form, the NIDF, has sent its fighter pilots to stop the invasion. At the same time, the researchers of the NIDF found the "Dead Man's Book" and try to solve its mysteries that might have a relation with the Hadian attacks. Quote

Final Vegeta Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 That´s because Kawamori was behind the Story concept and was also the Director for M0. Same for Aquarion; and both lacked in the plot development department. Aquarion's Kawamori episodes were the best of the series. I am leaning to blame it on Hiroshi Ohnogi. He did "series composition" in Aquarion and script in Macross Zero. Just look at all the animes he´s NOT worked as a director, most of them rock, eg. SDF Macross, Eureka 7. He actually worked as director in SDF Macross and is credited as "Eiji Kurokawa". He is credited as director only starting from DYRL?. I don't think Eureka 7 rocks, but I've seen only the first episodes. I´m not satisfied with what´s being done, not when M0 is still not properly tied to the future of the Macross unniverse as it was supposed to be from early staff interviews ( ¨M0 events being disclosed after 40-50 years¨) That simply means he may have left open possible story premises to be exploited in future Macross series. and specially when the fans were so dissapointed and subsequently divided by M7. Which was directed by Amino. There´s still plenty of room for more stories and more mechs. A lot of that space is going to be filled by rehashes, though. FV Quote
Zinjo Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Kawamori may have done the mecha designs (however nothing appears to have been officially announced), however his involvement with the show is not likely at all. He is currently working on his own episode (short film) for studio 4°C's "Genius Party" anthology series. It is going to be called, "Space-Time Wars" and appears to have absolutely no references to Macross (which is not surprising considering how many other stories he must want to do). It is entirely possible that he was contracted early on in that show's production to do mecha designs and then he moved on to his own project. Quote
Graham Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Guys, the new issue of Dengeki Hobby magazine has lineart of the Kissdum mecha. Links to the scans are below (warning, they are big). Kissdum Mecha Page 1 Kissdum Mecha Page 2 The plane is not transformable. However, the cockpit module is ejectable and transforms into a mecha that IMO looks a bit like a Glaug. The cockpit module can also attache to diferent host craft, shown on page two, one of which looks like a submarine and the other perhaps a VTOL or a hovercraft. Graham Quote

Thanks for the scans Graham. I'm a sucker for jet fighter anime(especially after watching the Area 88 80's OVA and reading through the first few issues of the manga) so I am very excited for this. eugimon Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 oooh, I forgot about this series. thanks for the scans graham, the plane looks very sweet Quote
Dante74 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Thanks for the scans Graham. The submarine type craft looks sweet! Quote
Fort Max Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Those designs look pretty cool, like his E7 style with more guns. They also look very toy-ish if you know what I mean, look like they'd have quite a bit of play value. Quote
Knight26 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Interesting design, so the cockpit section and the middle third of the fighter, it appears becomes it own glaug type mecha, and it can connect to other craft. Interesting concept, will need to see how that works into the story. Quote
KiriK Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 pretty interesting designs.... any idea when this is supposed to come out?? Quote
Ginrai Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 This stuff looks okay, but is it just me, or does everything Kawamori does now look kinda like his Armored Core work? It's like he has developed a "house style" of sorts. I also wonder how much of this is a result of having a bunch of assistants clean up his sketchy design work. But the gerwalk-looking thing is pretty cool. The story premise is still pretty generic, but hopefully it will be watchable. Quote

It's like he has developed a "house style" of sorts. Heh.. Was thinking the same thing. Without even a hint of his name, you can definitely see these are Kawamori made designs. Although I like the concept of cockpit pod mecha, the design seem too ornamental, like much of his AC work. I'm still interested to see how this works out. Quote

Graham The Sub and "Ekranoplan" are the same thing by the looks of it. It's transformable, unlike the fighter which isn't. Quote
promethuem5 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I really like the transformable cockpit mech, and the fighter plane looks sweet (a bit like a combo of the YF-19 and 21 lol)... I say, even if the series sucks, bring on a fully workable toy of the fighter and cockpit! Quote
Graham Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 A toy may present problems. While the non transforming host vehicles such as the plane, sub etc would be simple, the transforming cockpit section would be tiny, that is is you assume a host vehicle size of about 12" (30cm) long. Graham Quote
promethuem5 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 The way I see it, these designs would make amazing toys in somewhere around 3 1/2" Gi-Joe type figure scale... Quote
Graham Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Then the host vehicle would be huge and probably expensive. Graham Quote
UN Spacy Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Update folks. Looks like Satelite is getting a trailer(?) ready for the Tokyo Animation Fair on March 22nd. PLUS the official site redid their mecha and character pages. Definitely worth a lookout. http://www.kissdum.com/chara.html http://www.kissdum.com/mecha.html# Quote
