MasterOfPuppets Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Well to quote nightmareb4macross from another thread: You know after seeing all these broken shoulders I am really considering recasting these parts in a really strong resin. While I am not sure of what the long term effects are. I am sure it would be better than having a VF-0 with a broken arm. If there is enough interest I could reproduce the parts using an unbroken arm. I could attempt to reinforce it somehow so it wont be as easy to break and might be able to retaina a small rubber washer inside that can keep the arm somewhat tight. So post here if you're interested. For all the the guys with broken shoulders, there may be hope after all. I'm without a doubt intersted. Quote
UN Spacy Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 ME! Mine already broke and the other is on the verge of crumbling. Quote
promethuem5 Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 NMB4M, you should check out that super high-strentgh resin Captain America used for the VF-1D 1/48 kit... I bet that stuff'd be perfect. I might be interested... mine broke but I got a replacement from BBTS that seems to eb holding out fine, and the other side looked alright. Quote
Gatillero PR Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 I'm in, mine have stress marks on both arms. Can it be casted in dark gray or we have to paint it? Quote
promethuem5 Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 NMB4M does really good color matching... and said in the other thread that he'd try to get it right, so no worries there. My only thing is that I think it'll have to end up having a rubber washer still, because otherwise it's not going to pose very well still... Quote
Magnus Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 I'm in for two sets - PLEASE! You'd be like Santa Clause if you did this, except with more overtechnology (wait....) Quote
MasterOfPuppets Posted December 25, 2006 Author Posted December 25, 2006 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=453694 This is turning into an epidemic. If I am to reproduce these, I need broken limbs from an original VF-0A, A only. I would have to use the parts to thicken and enhance the old design. The reason, I ask for "A" limbs is that I would like to reproduce these as they have the screw holes, as do the bicep covers. If there is anyone out there who can help to get this project one step further please contact me via PM. I would require both halves of the upper left and right arms, as well as, both halves of the left and right bicep covers. I will do my best with this project and try to obtain a very close to original color match. Thanks, NB4M So any volunteers? I would but I only have the 0S. So if I wanted to replace the shoulder piece on the 0S I'd have to crack open the bicep armor and glue it back again? Quote
Magnus Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 My VF-0's left shoulder is covered in crazy glue right now - I don't think you'd be able to get a proper mold out of it? Correct me if i'm wrong though. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Still waiting for someone to step forward with necessary parts for this project. Anyone? Quote
Magnus Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Can you make use of mine even if i've added glue to my left shoulder assembly? Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Can you make use of mine even if i've added glue to my left shoulder assembly? Could you post a pic? Quote

Magnus Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Here you go. The other shoulder is untouched and uncracked. Quote
jenius Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 If only that pic were bigger so I could see the detail... Quote
UN Spacy Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 No one quote that picture or else A7's head will explode. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 No one quote that picture or else A7's head will explode. LMAO Quote
promethuem5 Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 No one quote that picture or else A7's head will explode. It's like there's something missing from the picture... some tiny detail we aren't seeing. Quote
Magnus Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 So all jokes aside, is the part useful, or too gummy to use? Quote
Rabidweezil Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 If this gets off the ground, I'm down for 2 sets. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 So all jokes aside, is the part useful, or too gummy to use? Magnus The part is useful, but a clean unrepaired set would be perfect. This would allow me to repair the broken set at exactly where the break is. I need to study the weak point and come to a solution for making a stronger recast. Thank you for your volunteering of parts, it is greatly appreciated. Hopefully, someone out there has both arms broken and unrepaired. Quote
Magnus Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Ok, no problem, let me know if you need them then. Hopefully someone else has a set to volunteer. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I may have to hit you up on these parts, Magnus. it looks like the donor parts coming are broken at a different location from everyone else's. I'll let you know once I receive the parts. Thanks again. Quote
Graham Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I think, I'd definitely purchase mulitple sets of these as insurance, as long as they are cast in a shade of grey as close to the original as possible. Graham Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Don't worry, NB4M does perfect color matching. Quote
Scream Man Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 are the colours the same on the oA and oS? They look pretty much the same to my eye... Quote
