Jolly Rogers Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 News article link Interesting how they referred to Star Wars Galaxies as critically acclaimed and popular with gamers... definitely not the case based on what I've read here. Looks like the game company that George built can't hack it without using the two magic words in their game titles these days. Quote
bsu legato Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I'm still looking forward to Secret Weapons Over Normandy... Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I'm still looking forward to Secret Weapons Over Normandy... Due to recent events that game has been changed to STAR WARS: Secret Weapons over Naboo so they can actually make money on it. Quote
bsu legato Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 You mean I can fly an X-Wing and shoot down B-17's, or use a Republic Gunship to strafe SS tank columns? Sweet! Quote
Uxi Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 You mean I can fly an X-Wing and shoot down B-17's, or use a Republic Gunship to strafe SS tank columns? Sweet! Now THAT sounds like a game! Quote
bsu legato Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 (edited) Seriously though, LucasArts had some neat non-SW games back in the day. Outlaws, Full Throttle, and Escape From Monkey Island to name a few, but it's been quite a while since they've done anything of note. Heck, I'll even go so far as to say that their SW games have been hit-and-miss. Edited October 10, 2003 by bsu legato Quote
zorprimal Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Just an FYI Full Throttle is old news. I knew about it a few months back Quote
Jolly Rogers Posted October 10, 2003 Author Posted October 10, 2003 Back in the eary 1990s they made quality SW games like Xwing and TIE Fighter. Ever since the crapfest known as Rebel Assault came out, quality of their SW games have generally been average at best. Quote
CHAN Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 (edited) I liked Day of the tantacles. That was the funniest game ever. Everything else besides that and Monkey Island blows. Edited October 10, 2003 by CHAN Quote
GobotFool Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 as long as sam and max remains I am happy. Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Some of the Lucasarts games I've played and loved are: Sam and Max Hit the Road Full Throttle Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Adventure and Action versions) Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe My opinion is that Lucasarts, much like a lot of computer game makers right now, just has not come up with any new and interesting ideas for games lately... and the ones that have potential seem to get buttfreaked before they get out the door. Perhaps this little corporate decapitaion will make for some changes that get that stick out of thier butt. Quote
Godzilla Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Yeah, LucasArts is not that great some games I own is: X-Wing Tie Fighter XvT Xwing: Alliance Dark Forces DF2:Jedi Knight Jedi Knights 2 Rogue Squadron 2 on GC I skipped Galaxies because it cost too much and I dont pay to play. From what I hear ppl who played came in from Asheron's Call. Then after a couple of months, they went back to Asheron's call. Quote
MrDisco Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 i thoroughly enjoyed every 'lite-adventure' game they released - grim fandango, monkey island, indiana, dott, etc. Bring back the classic games! Quote
Nightbat Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 Full Throttle? Now that was an RPG full of laughs, great game, need to get me a copy to keep on my "All time Classics"-Shelf Quote
GobotFool Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 Lucas arts made great adventures games once, great space sims once, lets see them return to their roots. Quote
