HWR MKII Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Yup layers of Aves over a foam form with other kit parts for details and suspension.
promethuem5 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I just started working with the Aves stuff, but boy does it work nice... you must have gone thru a ton of it tho! Got a complete pic to see what's left?
neptunesurvey Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Keep it up Neptunesurvey. The ghost (and babies) look good. HWR, the Octo tank looks good too. I think that was one of those designs heavily influenced by Sake ! - MT Thanks MechTech. Did some touch ups and should have some finished pics of the Ghost shortly. I'm also trying to paint the VC33 before I leave on Saturday. Bromgrev, you don't have to wait for a work bench. Until I got my house, and had some space, I worked on the floor.
big F Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 (edited) I've never heard of Venus Wars, but it looks kinda neat... different, but neat. If only you could get motobikes like in Venus Wars. How cool would they be. My friend is always moaning about the cost of tyres for his bike, Probably something to do with all the doughnuts he keeps doing, but I think he`d go for one of those. promethuem5 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I am impressed beyond words with the work on pages 10 and 11 Klywell... that shot of the control console plumbing is truly terrifying... hoiw are you going to keep track of such a potential hairball? The firewall work is awesome as well... I can't wait to see more!
neptunesurvey Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 So Klywell. Are you going to have it finished by Wonderfest?
Kylwell Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Yes. I all goes well I'll have it done in 2 weeks. Then all I have to do is the base.
HWR MKII Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 That Falke is INSANE man. I like. If i knew more about it id probably try the same.
Guest Bromgrev Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Bromgrev, you don't have to wait for a work bench. Until I got my house, and had some space, I worked on the floor. You clearly have no experience with what they call floor "space" over here! Ok, I admit it, I'm just making excuses ...
big F Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Nice job Kywell. Im not really sure what it is your making but I can more than appreciate the work you have put into it.
neptunesurvey Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Here is the finished Honneamise 1/72 Ghost fighter. This is just a beautiful kit. Honneamise, when will you have the next new kit ready? The base its on now is a carrier deck. I can't decide on what type of carrier theme I should do. Any ideas?
cokefiend Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 (edited) Hopefully this link works: http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lt_cooper2000/...460762343006949 Scroll down a bit to see my Monster in progress. Im thinking of adding a bunch of extra detail like armour plating and heat sinks and the like to make this all mine. Or would that be blasphemous? Ive already added some treads to the feet. Following HWR's lead I closed off the arm cannons with those breakaway things. I also added some magnets to the engine compartment so I can remove the cover whenever I want to peak inside. Chas Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 (edited) Nice work neptunesurvey. Boy I wish I could buy resin kits! There have been so many great rare kits lately. Anyway I've been back home in canada for a little over a month now and I've finally got a work space set up so I can finish these guys that I started back in August 10,000 miles away! It's been great seeing the work everyone has been up to lately - It's what made me finally get off my butt, quit moaning and carve out some space for myself! Kylwell, Holly crap man! You are seriously going all out (or rather All-in) on that Falke kit. you gotta give us an over all view (picturewise) of the build-up so far so we can put it all in perspective. HWR, As always your work is an inspiration: in terms of skill, execution, quality, and all those awesome kits you manage to get your hands on! Your build ups are like hobby-porn for me 'cus the kits you build are ones I'll never "have" but it's oh so nice to watch them 'get done'. What's the news with that Dropship mate? Promethuem5 I like the new avatar and I really like what you did with that kit! excellent paintwork. I gotta try some paint-chipping one of these days. anyway enjoy the pic. Oh and by the way is it just me or does the gerwalk look to tall in relation to the battroid? [attachmentid=40786] P.S. Cokefiend: Something went wrong with the Yahoo album. Edited February 28, 2007 by Chas
HWR MKII Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 (edited) Hey Chas. I thought you finished those? The dropship is just giving me hassels the fiorst one didnt. The rear wing needs alot of straightening and some other little things. I was getting frustrated so i shelved it for a little bit. Edited February 28, 2007 by HWR MKII

Chas Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 You mean the Gerwalk? No I never finished this one. I still have some minor details left to paint and detail. The fighter and Battroid got shevled back in Soul and I just brought them out again. My last few months in Soul were a little harried (sp?) such that I couldn't really do any model building. About the dropship - do you have accessto a heat gun? i know everyone says boiling water works and I'm sure it does. But when I used to work in the shop ( Rapid prototype) we'd alway use a heat gun for reshaping any warped parts. ( We used ployurathane resin). Just an idea.

MechTech Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Awesome detailing Kylwell! Love the clock gears. Now I know what really powers a Falke ! Great job on the Ghost Neptunesurvey! I think you need to go with a section of carrier showing lots of lines. It looks like you got the tie down recesses, that's a biggy. It is clean and fresh like Kylwell said . Cokefiend, I wouldn't go with all those other details that you mentioned, but smoke dischargers are canon: [attachmentid=40792] Handholds and smoke dischargers below the cockpit would be great detailing! - MT
Grayson72 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Hate to double post, but I've got super awesome progress on my 'Hawk... HWR still managed to beat me in the end, but I love working on this kit... Here's a teaser WIP shot... all that's left is mostly dry pigment stuff... scorching and barrel blackening, and to dirty up the feet... gonna treat the underside like a tank tread (lots of earth colored stippling and some mettalics.) Hey what was the base color you used for that BTW? Also, do you think the Tomahawk and the Phalanx are the same color?
promethuem5 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Grayson, the base color was Tamiya Dark Yellow brush painted on... really thined down and applied in like 4 coats... it kinda got chalky towards the end, whcih i fixed with some Veleijo Khaki Sand (I think that's the name.) I have no idea about the Phalanz, I don't have one, but I always assumed the three similar Destroids were painted the same...
HWR MKII Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 The phalanx appeared in 3 different colors during the series. Is it me or does it seem that everyone is paintchipping their stuff now:) i also used xf-60 dark yellow but over a base of darkened nato brown.
promethuem5 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I blame you for the chipping .... you're was just so nice everyone else wants to try now! I know the Phalanx appeared in dark yellow and the wonky blue, but what's the third Phalanx scheme?
big F Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I blame you for the chipping .... you're was just so nice everyone else wants to try now! I know the Phalanx appeared in dark yellow and the wonky blue, but what's the third Phalanx scheme? Didnt it also come in white IIRC
jadefalconguard Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Just finished painting the Tomahawk. I used a dark wash before I spraypainted the T-hawk to be sure to keep the details intact. It went quit well. Next up is decalling and washing. [attachmentid=40805] [attachmentid=40804]
neptunesurvey Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Here is a progress picture of the VC33. I'm using Model Masters Enamel Russian Flanker Medium Blue and white for the bottom, but that will have to wait until I return in May from sea. I love the Tomahawks. It looks like that will become my next kit to build when I return.

neptunesurvey Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 That's so cool, I wish it was in 1/72 scale. I would love to see it as 1/72 as well.
Gabe Q Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I would definitely be in for the VC-33 in 1/72 scale...
Grayson72 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Ahem, oh Thorsten??? finish up those vehicles and then give us one of these babies please
IAD Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Slightly OT, but does anyone have a 3-view (or even just some line-art) of the VC33? ~Luke
THOR Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Luke, I can't remember who had the sweet CNC on that RC site where a large YF-19 was cut out of pink foam but... If it was you, are you going to cast us some 1/32 yf-19's or others... -THOR
HWR MKII Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Actually luke if you could make a blank undetailed airframe id love to detail it up and master it for casting as a kit. For static display only of course.
MechTech Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 (edited) The VC-33 looks great! Nice filling and painting - brings a tear to my eye . It'll be great to see it done! Here's the line drawings I did for the 1/200 model: [attachmentid=40826] I blew it up and converted it from PowerPoint to a JPEG. Hope it's alright. If I didn't have the family, job and Daedalus build, I'd love to do one in 1/72nd. I'm still keeping my kits. Thorsten can't do one until he finishes off those ground vehicles and the Cola machine! But I'd love to see him do one. It would look believable. - MT Edited March 2, 2007 by MechTech
Guest Bromgrev Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Very nice Ghost, Neptunesurvey (and Honneamise). I like that shade of blue, it looks better than the dark blue you always sees in anime. More 'real'.
