IAD Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 (edited) Fireball pilot: "Does this make me look fat?" Sorry, couldn't resist!, something about the pose there. Looks great so far! ~Luke Edited May 8, 2007 by IAD
jardann Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 You like the little skull in the camo pattern? Yeah, that "crack" in the top of the skull looks familiar!
Ghadrack Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 (edited) My camera is having some focus up close issues, and I need to to a little weathering but I am pretty satisfied with the nearly finished product. Once I can get some better pictures I'll get them hosted on my web page Edited May 9, 2007 by Ghadrack
HWR MKII Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Good work. Another destroid in the ranks. Did noone get the defender or the Phalanx though. Yes the crack in the skull was inspired, By the same source as the one in macross and the one used by the US navy. The pirate Jolly Rodger. In the Ma.K. world the SAFS Fireball is used by mercenary forces to raid on commonwealth forces and ships.
Ghadrack Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Good work. Another destroid in the ranks. Did noone get the defender or the Phalanx though. Thanks My Defender will be next, I have it's base color laid in, I hope to finish off the last few details of the Tomahawk in the next two nights and get the Defender done by next weekend.
jadefalconguard Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Defender is ready to be painted, again a very nice kit wich was a blast to build. On to the paintboot...hopefully this weekend. Geert

HWR MKII Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Working on my Final entry for wonderfest. The Schwere Nacht Kampf Laufer Gunther. This is the 1/35 Gunther kit from the dust series with an MG-42 and night vision equipment from a DML haqlftrack added. The troops are also Equipped with 1945 issue night vision scopes and illuminators on their MP-44 weapons. These figures came with the DML night fighting panther G. Ill have to take the model outside right after dusk when its done to get some effective pics. I rreally feel the nightvision equipment adds more visual interest to the gunther kit. I also have the Gunther standing at its actual height. All the online photos you see have it squatting. As you can see it is a suprisingly large model. The base was intended for a Stug III g undergoing engine maintenance but i am going to revamp it a little to fit with the Gunther.
jardann Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Wow man! Are you going to have to rent a moving van to get all of your stuff to WF!? Your additions really add to the realism of that kit. Great work as always!
MechTech Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Great detail work HWR. Was that whole series supposed to be a alternate reality thing? I never really got into it. The mecha are interesting though because they are a "what might ahve been" look alike. - MT

The mecha are interesting though because they are a "what might ahve been" look alike. - MT It was supposed to be an alternate WW2 where the germans got their hands on captured alien tech. I never read the comics its from though. Too little story and too much S&M.
promethuem5 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I never read the comics its from though. Too little story and too much S&M. Yeah, I don't understand that aspect of the story either... I mean, I like the designs and such, but what the hell is wrong with the guy who wrote that stuff??
MechTech Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Thanks HWR, I was wondering what the story was based on. The S&M stuff I can do without too. I thought Macross Zero was weird enough going off the beaten path with the whole other alien thang. The end MAC II sequence ALMOST made all worthwhile though. So I'm not getting us into a rabbit hole, here's what's on my workbench now when I can't draw on the PC (wives gotta shop ya know . I'm trying to get one of everything in 1:200. So if you take an overly tall 1/48 scale figure, slap a helmet on them, add some Milliput (and a lot more sculpting yet) you get... I'm doing the male too. I got a bunch of overly tall 1/48 figures from Takara's old kits. That means more Milliput and Zentraedi for me! - MT
HWR MKII Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 The end MAC II sequence ALMOST made all worthwhile though. Whats a MAC II? You must mean the HWR-00-MKI
MechTech Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Ooops, sorry! My brain was having a Malox moment ! - MT
P.W.Royce Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Cleared my workbench (kitchen table) of Russian fighter jets and Star Wars models if favor of this, my latest addition to my ever growing pile of Macross models. Its a 1/144 scale recast of a Yellow Sub Super VF-1A Battroid. I haven't built anything resin in a while, so when I saw it on Craig's list for $10, I had to get it. I picked it up and started it right away. The sculpt is quite nice for this small scale with good detail. [attachmentid=42581] I have been working on it all evening with some soft brass wire and a #60 drill bit, trying to get the pose right. The picture on the box looks pretty static so I'm trying to fix it up with a little customization. Nothing fancy, just a better pose, a cluster of small brass tube gun barrels for the gun pod, and maybe a rifle sling. Bellow are some progress shots. The arms are tricky. Yellow Submarine was good enough to sculpt a set of wings complete with ordinance. Of course they don't fit because the arms and wings need to share the same space at the same time, but I have a plan to fix that. [attachmentid=42580] I can't wait to finish this thing, and add it to my 1/144 Macross collection. Of course now I will have to get some of those CM's fighter toys to go with it!
MechTech Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 That does look like a good sculpt for its size. "Borrow" the CM's ordnance and load it up . - MT
cowie165 Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 It;s been a while since my last post in this thread so: Here is a progress shot of my 1/72 Dragon Stug and Hasegawa Kittengrad. Brett that looks VERY nice mate. Especially so considering the scale. What's the history of the Kittengrad? Nice weather on the tank. Any more pics dude?
P.W.Royce Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Looks like a nice kit... what's Craig's list? www.craigslist.org Its an online classified site for the bay area. Actually I think its all over the US, but it was started here by a hairy computer nerd type in SF named Craig. Its free, you just log on, write up a for sale ad, job posting, escort service, whatever. Tons of fun to read, especially the "alternative lifestyles" section. There usually isn't much in the way of toys or models listed, but sometimes you get lucky. One time a couple of years ago a friend of mine found an add for some "Robotech toys" for $25. We went to the guy's house and he had a super VF-1A JM, a large die-cast Godiaken (I think) in box, and a large Gakken blue Alpha, also in box complete with instructions, stickers, the little pilot figure, everything. We couldn't believe it. My friend asked the guy several times if he really wanted to sell the stuff (he said his dad had brought it back from Japan while away on buisness trips when he was a kid), and he said yes. His wife was having another child and she said they needed the room. Like a couple of awesome die-cast Japanese toys take up that much room! We gave him the $25 and took off! Anyway, my buddy gave him his number, just in case the guy came to his senses and decided to hang on to the last vestiges of his childhood, but we never heard back from him. I got to keep the VF-1A, which now occupies a prized place in my DYRL -1A collection, and the Gakken is the centerpiece of my friend's Mospeada collection. Good times.

cowie165 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Thanks man. Here's a pic. That looks so cool. Did you use spakfilla for the dirt? What did you use to make the stone sidewalk?
Berttt Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 (edited) StuG and base are almost done. Just a few touch ups to go, plus painting the fugures. Edited May 27, 2007 by Berttt
Fly4victory Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Few boxes of parts and many days of building ahead.
HWR MKII Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Working on a couple kits from Wonderfest. The Fledermaus is geting a complete detailing.
MechTech Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Good detail work. I always thought that was an unusual design. - MT
cokefiend Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Well, my Moscato trio is finally done: http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lt_cooper2000/...8804415452107/3 http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lt_cooper2000/...8804415462198/2 http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lt_cooper2000/...8804415484668/1 http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lt_cooper2000/...8804415484831/0 Not too shabby if I may say. Now on to finishing my Monster.
MechTech Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Looks great man! Hopefully you got a shelf where they and the monster can go together. - MT
Kelsain Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 That Armored Zero kit looks like it requires great paw-to-eye coordination. Kudos. My cat would have given up and sat in the box by now...
