Mr March Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 (edited) Variety is the spice of life. I listen to music from most everything. I do have some general dislikes for certain genres of music, like country or rap and hence I avoid them. However, even among the worst of music, I'll enjoy a few songs from styles I normally hate. I'll make a list of a few samples from the many different musical genres I enjoy (this list will be minus the anime music of course). Popular Music (the stuff most people recognize): U2 Matchbox 20 The Tea Party Collective Soul Savage Garden Default The Tragically Hip The Police The Verve Artists: Seal Amanda Marshall Sting Jann Arden Jazz: Miles Davis Norah Jones Robby Coltrane Classical: Gustav Holst Beethoven Richard Wagner Anton Dvorak Scores: Howard Shore John Williams Hans Zimmer International: Tomko Lamb Edited October 10, 2003 by Mr March Quote

UN Spacy Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Rap from the late eighties and early nineties. I can't stand some of the S#!T that passes for rap these days.........I'm also into music from my homeland.....sa Pinas. B) Quote
makurosu Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I like a few artists of just about every genre. My favorite is Blues, though. If I listen to rock music, which seems to happen less and less often these days, it's usually from the 60s, or a few specific albums that I still love. Metallica's early stuff, or Radiohead Ok Computer, for instance. Quote
EXO Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 i listened to ok computer, i really liked it listen to the bends. its their best CD. Yup, The Bends is their best album. Less experiment and more substance. I listen to a select few of a wide range. I'm too lazy to change my CD changer, currently it has CD1: Sinatra, Martin, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennet, etc CD2: REM CD3: Weezer CD4: Joy Division CD5: Trashcan Sinatras SD6: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elton John, CCR, Eagles, Clapton, etc CD7: Echo and the Bunnymen, Jesus and Marychain, Mazzy Star, etc CD8: Ash CD9: Beck CD10: Yo La Tengo/Dump CD11: Gomez CD12: Stone Roses The compilations are burned CDs... Opus Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I'm stuck in the late 70's early 80's. Metal, punk, hardcore, old old old school rap. No disco or pop. I've never owned a CD player other than in my PC and I only listen to vinyl or tapes made from my vinyl. My favorite band is probably Black Sabbath, even the stuff with Dio. Closely followed by the first three C.O.C. records. Quote
SkullLeaderVF-X Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Anything that sounds good. But mostly techno,Punk,Rock, and some J-pop. Quote
yellowlightman Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I guess I have eclectic tastes. Favorites in no particular order: The Doors U2 (specially older stuff, Joshua Tree and before) Queen Guns 'N Roses (not many people will admit to that...) Black Sabbath 80's Pop Some newer pop, won't name names Shonen Knife Front Line Assembly Led Zeppelin Joe Hisiashi Yoko Kanno Quote
Sebastian Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 What kind of music? Almost everything except Rap, Hip Hop, Teen Pop music (back street boy, Shakira, Britney and that kind of crap), Grunge, and the super duper heavy metal. All the rest is Ok for me. Love Classic music, Jazz, New age is Ok, old school rock, the decent Pop, metal, etc Quote
alexborn007 Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 The majority of music I listen to are film scores, along with a healthy mix of Classical and Jazz. They all seem to work off of each other. Jerry Goldsmith, or Alan Silvestri are probably my two favs, but there's been a lot of good stuff I've heard lately by older composers like Bernard Hermann and Miklos Rosza. Quote

JsARCLIGHT Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I listen to a lot of different things but I mostly listen to: - '70s Classic Rock (ELO, Bowie, Golden Earring, Boston, Chicago, etc.) - Modern Dance/House (Daft Punk, Moby, Chemical Brothers, Crystal Meathod, etc.) - '80s Niche Music (Dead Milkmen, Midnight Oil, the Clash, Ramones, etc.) - '80s Mainstream (Police, Starship, Duran Duran, etc.) Things I will turn off if they are playing on my radio: - "Modern Rock" - Country - Rap and Hip Hop - anything that annoys me I'm 33, I grew up in the '70s and was a teen in the '80s and those decades had a profound effect on my musical tastes. I'm one of those old guys walking around saying "Music is not what it used to be" on a daily basis. I figure I like what I know and I know what I like... everything else is just rehash. Quote

I usually can toletate a certain amount of any type of music for so long after that is time to change. mikeszekely Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 My latest favourate is BoA from Korea.Just downloaded all of her CDs in mp3. Oh sweet Buddha... I'm not the only one! 90% of the stuff I listen to is from Korea. My favorites include BoA, Shinhwa, H.O.T, JTL, Take, Moon Heejun, NRG, Eugene, S#arp, and Lee Jung Hyun. I also really enjoyed Seo Yeon's first CD, the special album that Lee Jihoon did with Shinhwa's Shin Hyesung (not that new Group S thing they did with Kangta, though), MILK, Dana, Space A, and Chakra's older stuff. I used to like some J-Pop, but that was before Utada Hikaru and Kuraki Mai got really popular. You know, back when the stuff that Tetsuya Komuro worked was considered gold. I especially liked MAX, Globe, and ELT. Most of the American stuff that I enjoy is older stuff, like Kiss, Def Leppard, Queensrcyhe and the like. I do really like the Juliana Theory, though. In fact, I used to hang out with them around the time they were just getting started, and I was at their very first show ever. That's pretty much it, although I do kinda like Stabbing Westward, and I'm thinking about picking up that best of Rob Zombie that was just released. Quote
