PrettySoldierExsedol Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I've got a question that's been bugging me so hard I registered just to ask it. I have no memory of where or how, but sometime in the mid 80's, I got these miniature transforming Max & Milia VF-1Js. Slightly shorter than a 3" Gi Joe, and surprisingly almost as articulated. I thought they had to be common, all over the place. But I've never found a mention of them anywhere. Not here, not even at the Valkyrie Factory back when it existed. I still own them. Dismantled in pieces and lazily never screwed back together, lost god knows where. The question is, who the hell made them? Where did they come from? Will this be difficult as I think it'll be without pictures? Quote
promethuem5 Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 This will be difficult without pics, and frankly, they sound kickass, so go find them! Quote
MechTech Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Sounds like some cool 1/144ish scaled valks!? Pictures please! - MT Quote
Knight26 Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 (edited) sounds to me like the ones that were remade with the pencil sharpeners in their backs like these: http://www.toyarchive.com/Macross/Macross3InchVFFakes1a.jpg or these: http://www.toyarchive.com/Robotech/st7/kovf1a.html or perhaps these: http://www.toyarchive.com/Robotech/st7/kovf1j.html Childhood memories sometimes recall these things as being much cooler then they were. ruskiiVFaussie Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 (edited) Ded set! I owned one of them!!!! It IS true, childhood memories do have sugar coating on them. I am pretty sure i had the exact same Roy type bottom left - http://www.toyarchive.com/Macross/Macross3InchVFFakes1a.jpg Thanks Knight26! That takes me wayyy back. If only i wasn't such an idiot kid, if i'd actually looked after that toy when i had it back then. lol Edited November 17, 2006 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
mojacko Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 yup i remember owning those valks when i was a child.....heheheheh Quote
Twoducks Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 (edited) I had one of those as a kid too . Loved the little thing; for years I thought valks transformed as this toy did (tailfins sliding into the legs and no moving back rack). Turns out the part with the tailfins is already permanently folded in the toy. Edited November 17, 2006 by Twoducks Quote
Totoro242 Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Are these the toys you had? From the Toybox DX Takatoku Data File: Quote
PrettySoldierExsedol Posted November 18, 2006 Author Posted November 18, 2006 The Henkei Types look ALOT like what I'm remembering... Except for slightly more mangled proportions, more paint apps, more molded details, and less grey plastic. I also don't remember the Milia VF-1J being in such fabulously eyebleeding shades of colour. But then again, perhaps my memory's more hazy than I thought. Now if only somebody was hocking the little bastards on eBay by the bulk... Quote
