promethuem5 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Hey all This guy has been lying around in it's box half built for ages with some beastly mold lines and my not knowing what paint to use for the base... well, I finally boned up and filled and filed everything (not to mention hours of sanding) and it's finally completed. armentage Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Great wire mount! where do you get those? Quote
promethuem5 Posted November 11, 2006 Author Posted November 11, 2006 I made it. It's real thick like, tempered wire that doesn't bend easily and a wooden base I picked up at Micheal's. Quote
Mog Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Nice weathering effects! She looks like a tough, battle-tested bird. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Nice, I like it a lot. Some day I'll have to take mine beyond the "removed from sprue and sanded the intake halves" stage. Is that the first one we've actually seen built as a 2-seater here at MW? Quote
Fly4victory Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Wow, That is a great looking YF-19. Is the aircraft held on the wire by friction or pins? Have you tried acrylic rods softened in the oven for the same effect? Quote
promethuem5 Posted November 11, 2006 Author Posted November 11, 2006 F4V, I haven't... this was my first flight display. Actually, this was pretty much my first real aircraft model. The rod sticks straight out and slides into the gap between the leg and fuselage. It's completely removable with no modifications to the model needed. Quote
big F Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I like what I see. The dirty look is great. Clean aircraft are for museums. Quote
ChaosWarrior Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Very nice, the weathering looks very good. ChaosWarrior Quote
zeo-mare Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 yea this one came out really nice, i love the work i see here Quote
Fly4victory Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 First flight display! You have the master touch. F4V, I haven't... this was my first flight display. Actually, this was pretty much my first real aircraft model. The rod sticks straight out and slides into the gap between the leg and fuselage. Jagull Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 does the kit have the option to build it with or without the landing gear? Quote
Fatalist Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Awesome work! This is totally how you could imagine it looking after Isamu and Yang got past the Global Defense Systems. Amazing! Quote
VF-19 Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 does the kit have the option to build it with or without the landing gear? It's a technical "yes". You'll need to do some very simple modifications to the gear doors themselves, and not installing the landing gear themselves. Quote
jardann Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Very cool. What color did you use for the off-white? It looks great to me! Quote
promethuem5 Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 The base color of the fighter is two different Testors Model Master rattle cans... dark yellow and somehting like euro tan.... basically dark yellow base coat highlihgted with Afrika-Korps tan... a little darker than some interpretations, but I like how it came out.
