White Knight Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Well a realistic gritty Bond would screw men if wasn't gay. If M tells him to seduce a male forgein agent... Similar to Bruce Willis in the Jackal? Gabriel Burn in Sexy Beast? I didn't have a problem with either of those two things, just trying to get the job done. I suppose thats why I am not a spy. Hey mod, you mean "foreign." Quote
Graham Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 So what pistol does Bond use in this movie? The movie posters which have just started going up here in HK, show him with what appears to be a silenced PPK, but what's shown on movie posters often has no relation to what's actually in the movie. Graham Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 He uses a suppressed Walther P99 with a large degree of movie magic for the actual report sound. Quote
UN Spacy Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 BTW. Did Q make an apperance in this one? Quote

UN Spacy Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Nope. Ah. Alright. I thought that chap who installed the tracker on Bond would eventually become Q in the following movies. BTW. What did you guys think of John Cleese's Q? Quote
azrael Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Ah. Alright. I thought that chap who installed the tracker on Bond would eventually become Q in the following movies. That was suppose to be an un-mentioned cameo but IIRC, it was ultimately it was removed and just left as a no-name tech. Quote
White Knight Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 ... BTW. What did you guys think of John Cleese's Q? A silly character for a silly movie. The old Q could have done serious, but not Cleese. I think Bond is out of the Sci-fi business (Die another Day) so there isn't room for stupid anymore. Quote
rnurmin Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 (edited) Okay, I went to see this with my wife last night. Overall, we both thought it was a good movie. There is one part that I don't quite understand. Spoiler: Did JB loose his "boys" during the torture? The only reason why I ask was because during the scene where JB was talking to Vesper, he mentioned he only has his hands left Edited December 13, 2006 by rnurmin Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Spoiler> I would assume he says that out of jest, and that his boys are most likely in no condition for "servicing" Vesper when he says that. The psudo montage that follows I image depicts several weeks of R&R at which point the twins heal enough for him to give them a workout. <Spoiler Quote
rnurmin Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Ah, great explanation and use of wordings. Hasn't your wife ever pulled on them so hard you blacked out? Feels fine a few hours later... Just a lot of nerves there. Quote

Dangard Ace Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Casino Royale came out on DVD and BluRay today. Just got finished re-watching it. Great movie. Time to go through the special features. Who else got it? Quote
Dangard Ace Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I snatched it up too. Great movie! If you haven't you should check out some of the special features. The choreography for the first chase scene was great. Especially when they got the stunt guys and free runners reactions from doing the crane jumping. ...and Craig Daniels can't drive stick. Boo!!!!! Interesting fact: the destruction of the Aston Martin put it into the Guiness Book of World record for most complete car revolutions(7). The previous record was 5. Quote
HoveringCheesecake Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Mine is on the way from Amazon. I'm looking forward to getting it (got it for cheap). Quote
Uxi Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 (edited) Got the Blu-ray today at BB (they price matched frys.com for $22.99. :D ). I didn't get the car, though. Excellent PQ and another incredible uncompressed PCM track (sounds absolutely incredible from my Denon 4306). I had actually missed this in theaters and then learning the Blu-ray was coming out so fast made me realize I didn't have to tolerate the nasty crowds or pay boku bucks at a specialty theater. My own setup does far more justice to most material than the theaters anyways. I liked the more realistic angle, but the opening montage was pretty weak. I'm used to Bond opening montages being great home theater demo reel material and action packed. Edited March 14, 2007 by Uxi Quote
myk Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Who the FRAK buys Fullscreen. I went to Wal-Mart after a hard day's work to buy my copy, only to find that all of the widescreen versions were gone-there were no less than aisles worth of fullscreen versions. Who the Hell still buys fullscreen?! Why even bother ordering it all!!!! Luckily, someone tried to stash a WS version behind a row of Dukes of Hazzard Begins, DVD's... Quote

The movie was great back then. Bond movies always start out with a bang! Quote
CoryHolmes Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 The movie itself was outstanding, if a tad convoluted towards the end (but which Bond film isn't?). But Daniel Craig, as good as he was, just didn't quite measure up to the standard that Pierce Brosan set for me. Quote

Lots of people who shop at Walmart and "Hate them black bars on ma teevee" types. Just a guess though. Quote
HoveringCheesecake Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 ^Yep, my buddy likes Full Screen. I hate him for it. Quote
Chewie Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I just this for my birthday, haven't watched it yet. Hope it's as good as I keep hearing. Quote

I borrowed Episode 3 from a friend of mine a while ago and I put it in the DVD player and find it's full screen. I was so pissed I called him up and started cussing at him, his response? "You don't have a high-def TV so why the hell would you need widescreen?" ... Quote
Chewie Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 While it was a good movie....I have to ask where the plot was going at times. It was just kinda there. Quote
