Roy Focker Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Yeah some people don't like Brosnan. One common complaint that I hear is that no hair is out of place and he's a pretty boy. I think those fans are in the closet. They are attracted to him and just say the don't like him as Bond cause he's to purdy. If Brosnan Bond was bad its cause of the scripts, direction and production. He was a charming, classy Bond in cheesy block busters. Right Wade? Right Jimbo! Quote

We'll see what Craig can do. If Craig does a good job, we can all laugh those people who said otherwise. Quote
yellowlightman Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Let's put it this way: for both The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez and Devon Aoki didn't have driver's licenses before filming commenced. However, they did learn to drive stick in less than a day. Now what excuse does Daniel Craig have for not learning to drive stick? 373628 Probably because The Fast and the Furious is a better movie than any of the post-Goldeneye Bond movies? Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 It seems most of you like Brosnan as Bond ! Quote
zeo-mare Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I also liked Brosnan as Bond, i thought he was one of the more stylish Bonds out there. i truly loved Goldeneye and Tommorrow Never Dies, i wish they could have kept him on longer. i do not mind the new guy i will wait and see the film first before I judge him, for all anyone knows this may turn out better then Goldeneye. it really is hard for anyone here to critise a film they have yet to even see the trailer for, so i will simply wait. chris Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Sean Connery is Bond to me... everyone else is a shallow replacement. I did not like Lasenby, I absolutely hated Moore and Dalton and I found Brosnan passable at times but as others have said it is his cornball movies he was in that made me not care for him. Sure Goldeneye was OK but all his others where quickly and easily forgotten. It's admirable that they are trying to take the character back to his roots of less gadgets, more intrigue but IMHO even if Brosnan was given that chance he would have been flat. Brosnan was a faceman, all looks and no personality. Bond is all about the personality, the swagger. They lost that when they lost Connery and they have never regained it. The Bond legend is not gadgets or vehicles or crazy villians... it's about this sly, debonaire Brittish agent who is all attitude, intrigue and allure. The movies just got away from that as time went on and Bond became more or less a pop culture barometer, immitating other movies rather than innovating like it used to. Quote
Zor Primus Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Yeah, I saw the pic the other day of the new Bond, hell even my wife thinks he's teh suck! Can't drive stick? What the frack? If I am not mistaken 90% of the cars in England are manual...let me guess, he's one of them bike riders isnt he? While Connery will always be the best Bond I think Timothy Dalton deserved one more Bond flick to cement his greatness. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The reason Timothy Dalton quit cuz he doesn`t want to be remembered as Bond. Quote
EXO Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The reason Timothy Dalton quit cuz he doesn`t want to be remembered as Bond. 374351 I saw him in a Rite-Aid in L.A. and the first thing I thought was "Hey! It's Bond... in pajamas!" I liked Brosnan as Bond, but as much as anyone didn't like the movies. It's Barbara Brocolli that must go! Not Brosnan. Well Maybe it was time for Brosnan to go to, he's smart enough to get out while he can. Shame though, his talent was wasted on crappy bond movies. Quote
Roy Focker Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 We'll see what Craig can do. If Craig does a good job, we can all laugh those people who said otherwise. I'm sure Craig will make a nice spy thriller but I doubt will people in general associate Craig = Bond afterwards. Brosnan was a faceman, all looks and no personality. See my earlier point. You find him attractive. Nothing wrong thinking another man is handsome that doesn't mean you're going to act on it. Just because he's a very attractive even to men it shouldn't go against him. Bond is all about the personality, the swagger. They lost that when they lost Connery and they have never regained it. The Bond legend is not gadgets or vehicles or crazy villians... it's about this sly, debonaire Brittish agent who is all attitude, intrigue and allure. The movies just got away from that as time went on and Bond became more or less a pop culture barometer, immitating other movies rather than innovating The literary Bond had little personality. He would have made a boring film character. Just look at Dalton's Bond. Its very close to the literary Bond and is one of the most dull. Connery's take on the character gave everyone the idea of what a movie Bond should be. You're right about Bond being a pop culture barometer. Look at DAD it was influenced by XXX. Now Casino Royal is being influence by Borne and Batman Begins. Quote

bsu legato Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Hmm...too bad its in French, but interesting nonetheless. A few things we can glean from the trailer: - they've added a LOT more action to the story, which is understandable since the original novel consisted of Bond playing cards for its entirety. - Martin Campbell still can make a good looking movie. That doesn't mean the script won't suck. - Craig looks believable enough in what little we see of the fight scenes, but that's only half of playing "Bond." - For all the disappointing Bond films in the past few years, hearing the 007 theme at the end of the trailer still gets me excited, same as it did when I was 10 years old. Skullsixx Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 (edited) Damn! I gotta admit that trailer was cool. See it in English at aintitcoolnews.com Edited May 3, 2006 by Skullsixx Quote
Mr March Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 (edited) Well, the teaser sure was fun. Director Martin Campbell looks in top form visually. The scene of 007 leaping from one tower crane to another was a fantastic shot. I'm jealous I'm still not sold on the casting of Daniel Craig as 007, but I think he can make a fine action star. He is a talented actor who was quite good in Munich and Layer Cake. I suppose Daniel Craig's role as 007 will all depend upon what kind of direction Campbell and co. take this new 007 film. As a traditional Bond, Craig is not an ideal casting choice. But the trailer and much of the pre-release buzz about Casino Royale would have us beleive the Bond character is going to be portrayed in a new way. They say the character is going to be less style and more substance. If that's true, casting someone like Craig might be a good move to push the franchise into a different direction. Some much speculation and so few real facts. As always, it's a waiting game Edited May 3, 2006 by Mr March Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Very nice. IMO from this teaser Craig looks more acceptable as Bond. Quote

Skullsixx Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 When I first heard of this film and the casting I didn't think Craig would work at all. After seeing him in "Munich" and "Layer Cake", I have realized how good this guy is. The trailers for this movie look great, so I'll be parked at my local theater on 11/17/06 the same way I have been for all the Bond films since "For Your Eyes Only". Although I admit I never bothered with any of the Dalton films and after catching a few scenes of them throughout the years on cable... I'm glad I didn't!!! Quote
the white drew carey Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I think he'll work wonderfully. The man is a talented actor and should breathe new life into a franchise that has been flogged more than the proverbial dead horse. Quote
dizman Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 (edited) I'm really hoping that Craig turns out to be an alright bond. Only problem is that he is usually a better actor as a bad guy instead of a good one, like Dalton (and even then Dalton wasn't all that great either way). Guess we will just have to wait it out and see. Edited November 7, 2006 by dizman Quote
Mr March Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Craig is a good actor, so I'm thankful of that at least. I have my fears for the future of Bond, but I do like most of the developments I've read about Casino Royale. It's most definitely time for a reinvention of the character. Quote
