mister_e Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Wow! If this is more of a toy than a model consider me sold. I do wish it was bigger though. Quote
glane21 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I've said before that Yamato was missing an EASY win by not making a DYRL SDF-1 and now Wave has stolen their thunder. Serves them right. Quote
crasis Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 PLEASE tell me this is not some complex model kit... I want this sucker to look good right out of the box. Quote
isamu_dyson Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 it's a toy not a model kit ... so it'll be fine right out of the box lol Quote
crasis Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Sweet! Is it wrong that I'm more excited by this announcement than any of the other Macross toy news this year? And this is coming from someone who almost had a heart attack when news of the YF-19 surfaced. Quote
wolfx Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 The pictures look so unreal to me though. I look at it and it really looks like it came out of the animation or it looks like a 3D model. I dun believe that i'm looking at a completed toy prototype. The detail is awesome if it will come completed and painted. Quote
Garou Kuroryuu Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I'd go for a bigger scale, even if it takes another 20-40 extra bucks. This is sorta small for what I would expect in an SDF toy. Dunno, maybe... mmmm... 30 cm (12 in) long in cruiser mode? HECK!, even a 40cm(15in)-long SDF-1 for 200 USD!!! Quote
KiriK Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) the ship mode looks holey...... like they concentrated on the standing mode of the SDF which if fine.... but the ship looks horrible w/ all those holes and space in the back of it... if i got this.... it'd be in standing display all the time..... Edited October 19, 2006 by kiririth Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Gonna get it and the inevitable Yamato version!!! Quote
UN Spacy Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I've said before that Yamato was missing an EASY win by not making a DYRL SDF-1 and now Wave has stolen their thunder. Serves them right. Totally, but a little competition doesn't hurt. Hopefully this'll light a fire in Bandai or Yamato to make a NEW version. Quote
Shaggydog Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 My anonymous second-hand source says this is a joint effort between Wave and Yamato (sculpted by Wave, jointed and fitted by Yamato). Completed, toy-like, metal and ABS with minimal PVC. FWIW. Quote
Dante74 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I like the detail and overall look but it's just a bit to small. I'll wait for Yamato to their version...if they ever do one. Quote
capt.actionjackson Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I like the detail and overall look but it's just a bit to small. I'll wait for Yamato to their version...if they ever do one Agreed. As excited as I am to see they DYRL Macross in toy/playmodel form, I'll wait until I can have one in a larger size. Especially at this price point. If they had made this in the same scale as the old Bandai and made it mostly plastic to keep down on costs, I would snap up at least 2. Quote
Gatsu Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I've said before that Yamato was missing an EASY win by not making a DYRL SDF-1 and now Wave has stolen their thunder. Serves them right. Yeah! agree with you! But anyway why there are always DYRL versions???TV style is much better, and guys don't forget ths is the same size than the IMAI 1/5000, that i know is rare (i got it but still to built) but you can paint it it as you want, and it's a quite small size, far from YAM 1/48!! All these money just to have a transformable one?????????? Quote
dizman Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Wow this thing looks amazing! I don't really need one though. If wave would make a TV SDF-1 then I would shell out $150 or so bucks. Quote
ikhii Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Superb toy need to see/touch it before I empty my pockets again. Well, if Yamato were to come out with one and I hope soon, then i would skip this baby, if not... this will do for now. Quote
baronv Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 That is a nice Macross, kinda way expensive if it size is that small. Maybe if it was at least the same size as the Bandai version then the price would be o.k., I do want a DYRL Macross to go along with my Matchbox SDF-1. Quote
aaajin Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 (edited) u sure the price is 130-ish? hope they made somekinda pricing mistake on the website or sumthing might be wrong here man...to think that the VF-0S kit by wave was like 15-17 bucks a piece...and relatively the same size as this kit...Ill skip this I guess...130+ for a 9 inch kit is way too absurd. Such anachronism must-be-burnt- ALaiyvvee !! Edited October 20, 2006 by aaajin Quote
Mog Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 (edited) ^^Well, I looked at the Yen price (15,540) in the first post, then checked out what the current exchange rate was last night with the dollar. It came out to a little over US$130 or US$131. And remember, this is the stated price before shipping and any possible taxes. Most likely, they'll say the higher price is due to the amount of die-cast in it. Edited October 20, 2006 by Mog Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Something tells me that Yamato already has a SDF-1 on the line, so I'll just wait for it. Quote
Graham Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Hmm.......this is news too me. If it's a pre-assembled & pre-painted toy, I'll definitely buy 1 or 2. If it's a kit that you have to build and paint, I'll pass. Graham Quote

Technically the Macross in DYRL? remained in storm attacker mode throughout the movie, IIRC. I dun think it was ever in the battleship mode, so the emphasis on storm attacker mode is expected. Besides its the storm attacker mode which is iconic for Macross. PS: Imagine if they made a variant where it was battle damaged, and you're able to split the body's torso and comes with a diorama lake to remake macross city. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 (edited) This is NOT worth the monies they are asking. No Thanks. It's Kewl, but not perectly 'Keewwwwl'. Plus the legs don't look right. Too gapy. Edited October 20, 2006 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
Jin_Kune_Do Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 This is awsome....i wonder if it shoots too like in the Robotech commericlas hehehe - Jin Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 (edited) Why can't Yamato do their own Macross with interchangeable arms? ARMD sir? Nuu, i believe i will be taking the Promethious an Dadelous today. (can't be battyed to look up the spelling, i forget easily) Now that alone would be worth 150 USD deffinently (imo), not this floppy looking gapy leg distance overpriced mess. Edited October 20, 2006 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
wolfx Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Ahem! Initial battle scene anyone! Yeah yur rite. If there wasn't a "transformation" we won't get a the naked Zero G Love scene. Now i remember. Quote
eriku Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I'm just glad SOMEBODY is making a transformable Macross. Hooray! Quote
recon Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Think i will skip this due to its size and price..and maybe cos yamato would do a bigger/better detailed version for e.g. 1/2500 ..not forgetting more EX! Maybe the Gman knows abt this already..haha Cheers Quote
Retracting Head Ter Ter Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 At that size, the pricing is really nutty! Still, I might buy it if the big nutz leg gap isn't so bad. Quote
kensei Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Diecast is good, but it must be in the right places. I want this sucker to pose well and not get too loose in the long run. Quote
