thegunny Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Has anyone ever come across a cheaper readily available alternative to commercial super glue accelerators? Quote
Jasonc Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I bought some of that stuff, but the super glue I have doesn't require it. It bonds hard, fast, and is thick. A good quality glue will negate the need for the accelorator. It gets messy anyways. Quote
cobywan Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 The cheapest, nicest thing is to get one of the big refill bottles of kicker and a needle bottle applicator. The spray appilcators are wastefull and really make a nasty smell. With the needle applicator you can add the single drop that is all that's needed. Little mess, no stink. Any alternative seems to really make the glue get all crunchy and blobby. Quote
TSP Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Any powder stuff such as backing soda will work. Quote
MechTech Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I've tried baking soda and it was alright, but it will get clumpy and crunchy like cobywan (sounds like a cookie recipe ). - MT Quote
thegunny Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 Thanks for the replies As I'm only using it as a filler on some battletech bases (can get 10 tubes for $2 at the el cheapo shop) it doesn't really matter if it gets a bit "crunchy" and its quicker and a lot less messy than epoxy.
