Vermillion One Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 Here is a quick comparison pick. Quote
JB0 Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 No, he's talking about the scan from Macross Perfect Memory. Many of the Valkyrie sketches contained therein show different kinds of gunpods. Since I can't read Japanese (other than sounding out katakana, which will only get you so far), I can only guess that they're early versions of Kawamori's final design. Some of the other versions look kind of like Tommy guns. I doubt any of them are supposed to be canonical, but if you'd like you could consider them prototypes. The Design Works book showed that gun in the sketches for the VF-1 too(as well as the cover). Based on the sketches, it looks like it ALMOST made it to the animation, and was changed right before the design was finalized, as the battroid carrying that rifle is a clean line-art drawing as opposed to a sketch. The battroid was also unchanged between that and the final pics, indicating that the design of the VF-1 was pretty much finalized at that point. Quote
ewilen Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 so i'm assuming the end result in this is taht the 1/48 won't look right in a diorama againts the matchbox/exo battle pods and glaugs?....god knows how the power armour would look like... we'll see tho, since i'm getting some in If you don't mind the sculpt/finish of the Matchbox pods (or you're willing to customize), the 1/48 would look okay in a forced perspective diorama. A very nice example of the latter can be seen here. Read the description for scene 4, then click the link. Note that the ship model in the background has to be a much smaller scale than the GI Joes used in the foreground (12" GI Joes = 1/6 scale), but artful placement of the objects and construction of the ground and background make it all look properly proportioned and in perspective. Here's another example of a project using forced perspective with models in different scales. In this case, the builder is using both 1/100 and 1/144 models. Quote
rewooh Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 I think it'll be funny to have a diorama with small ass zentraadi against big ass valks. haha, i think i'll take a pic of it. Quote
