Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Wow that grey iron armor from the live action looks pretty good! Quote
azrael Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Ah...the original grey suit. Certainly has that slap-together feel to it. Quote
Scream Man Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 not bad at all..... Theres a dim hope yet! Quote
Knight26 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Nice, maybe I'll get to see it close up soon, oops I probably shouldn't have said that... Quote
promethuem5 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Knight you lucky bastard.... I like that grey armor shot alot... has the homebrewed look that's really important for an actual live action grey armor... cool... Quote
chrono Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Ah...the original grey suit. Certainly has that slap-together feel to it. Which is excellent! However if they attempt to pull a Halo suit for the newer suit it gets instant-fail. Quote
azrael Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Which is excellent! However if they attempt to pull a Halo suit for the newer suit it gets instant-fail. This probably won't be a good time to remind you that they plan on 2 suits in this movie. The original gray suit, for the first part and then the red/gold suit for the rest of the movie. Quote
KingNor Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Which is excellent! However if they attempt to pull a Halo suit for the newer suit it gets instant-fail. what do you mean exactly? i'm really hoping they do a live action suit/animatronic. Quote

The original gray suit, for the first part and then the red/gold suit for the rest of the movie. Of course they do! They have to show the whole character evolution BS, so they will have more then a single suit. KingNor, they should have some concepts in the beginning of this thread still. But they've hinted at very busy slapdash designs being the 'main' hero suit. Quote
Scream Man Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 i wonder how much of a physical suit we'll actually see. Hell, I wonder how much of a physical suit is even POSSIBLE! Quote
KingNor Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 i wonder how much of a physical suit we'll actually see. Hell, I wonder how much of a physical suit is even POSSIBLE! I don't see why you coudln't dress up an actor in a metallic looking body suit for the iron man costume. Problem is, how hard would it have been to make a spidey costume and how many of his scenes were cg? too many. that's how many. Quote
UN Spacy Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 The first shot of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Quote
cool8or Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 That Grey Armor and that Tony's hurt heart have the same look that seems in the Animated Movie!!! Quote
promethuem5 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Not sure what's on his tank-top, but RDJ def. looks good as Stark there... Quote
chrono Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 That looks horrible. They didn't need to slap a freaking glowy blob on his chest to show that he has heart issues. A simple brushed metal blob under a thin sheer tank would be more than enough. And I'm beginning to think that nearly every director in Hollywood has eye problems because all of the current stuff is badly over lite. Downey looks more like drugged up Anthony Stark(IRON MAN) than a slightly drunk Tony Stark. Quote
Skullsixx Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I agree with the blob light on his chest, but I don't think the pic is not too over lit. Perhaps it's just a production still. I've seen a helluva lot worse. At least they DID some lighting, unlike some of the other crap that has come out in the past... namely anything from Paul Verhoeven or some crappy movie thats too dark and has the same lighting scheme like Tim Burton films. Quote
Scream Man Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 he doesnt look to bad as stark, bu Im with u all on thelight blob on his chest...weird. Quote
promethuem5 Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I'm kinda assuming it's a stand in to be CGI-ed over later, but I don't understand why he needs a crazy glowey thing on his chest anyways... the chest plate is just supposed to be a big clunky pacemaker. Quote

I haven't seen a 'dark' movie/tv show in the last 10-15 years. And the last movie & TV show I saw with remotely intelligent lighting was Event Horizon, Pitch Black and FarScape season 1. :/ Quote
promethuem5 Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 As for lighting... all I'm going to say is: try and watch Blade Runner on an LCD TV... after much experimentation in both light and dark rooms, I am convinced it cannot be done. Quote
azrael Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 First look at the Iron Man red/gold suit courtesy of EW.com: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20037509,00.html Quote
Fly4victory Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 That suit looks great. I hope the story is as good as the visuals. Quote
KiriK Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 yea... that's a pretty dayam good suit adaptation.... but i dunno about Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.... Quote
Sumdumgai Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Wait a sec, the suit isn't going to be totally cg the entire time? ' __ ' Robert Downey Jr. is actually going to wear a suit of Iron Man armor? Woah. Quote
azrael Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Wait a sec, the suit isn't going to be totally cg the entire time? ' __ ' Robert Downey Jr. is actually going to wear a suit of Iron Man armor? Woah. Jon Favreau has asked Downey time and again, "Are you sure you want to wear that suit?". To which Downey has replied that he wants to wear it so.... Christian Bale complained that the Bat-suit was hot, gave him a headache, etc, but he used that for the character. I don't know if I can say the same for the Iron Man suit. Quote
promethuem5 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 The suit looks good... real good... wish I was a bigger fan of the current suit design While I'm sure I'm in the minority, I think it'd be sweet if the iconic classic suit, or the cyber-punky Heroes Reborn suit (my personal favorite) or the Modular suit (staple suit of the 90s...) showed up... Quote
chrono Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 *sigh* At least it's not a complete Halo rip-off. But it's just blah with all of the 'visual details' they shoved on the basis design. The shoulders and leg crap needs to be bigger so it looks like a proper Gundam rip-off. Simply too industrial. The helmut's fine and has alot of camera friendly angles going for it! Quote
Mr March Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I'm surprised the suit actually looks good. The designers gave the suit a muscular appearance and yet they still managed to make the suit appear mechanized rather than just a leotard. I'm impressed with this design and I think the muted colors work well for a live action adaptation. Now only if the script and the actual direction itself are any good, this should be a win... *crosses fingers* Quote
Golden Arms Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 The suit looks awesome, The more I hear and see concerning this film the more I'm impressed. Quote
Graham Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 The main potential fly in the annointment as far as I'm concerned is director Jon Favreau. I've not been impressed by anything he's directed to date. Graham Quote
Scream Man Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 i didnt know there HAD been anything he'd directed of late... Quote
