Dangard Ace
Just played through the Heavenly Sword demo. If you watch Heroes it's the same stage that Nikki was playing when she was showing off her l33t gaming skills to Micah. Game play wise it's like God of War only prettier. Uxi
The Heavenly Sword Demo was great, but all too short. They mix in some of the cinematic scenes ala God of War and Spiderman 2/3 along with the usual hack and slash. I had some mean combos going, too. F360°
Sony releases a new batch of visually impressive Gran Turismo 5 Prologue screenshots. OMFG! more pics here. http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2901 And other news, Globally, the PS3 has racked up a total of approximately 6 million units sold According to Rose, Blu-ray is dominating the market in Australia, with roughly 80 percent of all HD content (excluding PS3 games) being sold on Blu-ray discs, rather than on HD DVD. "This comes in light of this morning's announcement that retail chain Target would only be stocking Blu-ray players and discs, rubbing a little more salt in the wound of the competing high definition format." http://ps3.ign.com/articles/808/808656p1.html
Dangard Ace
About time GT had behind the steering wheel view...with hands, steering wheel and car hood. That's the one view I really wanted in GT and they finally added it. I'm sold. Any news if car manufacturers are finally letting Sony add collision damage to their cars? JsARCLIGHT
I keep hearing rumors that damage will either be in game or as a later downloadable upgrade. I also keep hearing that Ferrari will finally be present in GT5 which has always been a glaring omission IMHO. I've also heard rumors that GT5 may include motorcycles as well but I'm filing that one under bullshit until I actually see it myself. But that would be freaking awesome to see supercars get their tailpipes handed to them by superbikes.

The screen shots posted above show both an Enzo and an F430, so my only assumption could be that Ferrari is included. Just like DA i'm sold on the steering wheel driver view, i always felt that was necessary for a game of its reputation and caliber and now they're finally meeting that expectation. I'm just blown away at how breath taking and accurate the models are for this game; it seems like the console wars have evolved to the point where you really need to get one of each. yellowlightman
After playing the Gran Turismo HD demo I feel confident in GT's visuals. The problem is that it'll probably play like every other Gran Turismo and be about as fun as having your fingernails pulled.
Akilae
The problem is that it'll probably play like every other Gran Turismo and be about as fun as having your fingernails pulled. This. My main beef with the GT series, or any other racing game in fact, is that ALL the CPU cars make that perfect run around the lap. They never deviate, never spin out, never accelerate or brake a little too much or too little around the corner... combined with no car damage in GT, this makes for very aggravating races. Imagine making that perfect swing around the turn only to have 2nd place ram into you as it makes its perfect swing, nudging you out of position... This was my main reason for playing nothing but Burnout these days... at least I can HURT them!

And this is the reason why I prefer playing GT to Burnout. Better physics, no stupid arcady crash the other guy to build up your turbo power, no "equalizing" the field if you're kicking your opponent in a faster car but somehow they're catching up. It's all about pure driving ability. ...and yes I routinely kick the GT's cpu ass.

I do agree that it's a bit wacky that they can nudge you and fly out of control, yet when you nudge them, they stay in control, and you lose control anyway. F360°
The problem is that it'll probably play like every other Gran Turismo and be about as fun as having your fingernails pulled. I have some friends that don't like to drive, one don't even have a Driver Licence and he's 28 ) so I can understand why you might dislike this game. unless I was wrong and you enjoy getting your fingernails pulled. Everyone has different taste so what can I say. In GT or normal racing, you are in for the RACE and not damage or crashes. You are not suppose to hit other cars. Sure you can bump into the rails and other cars to cut them off without any damages, but where's the honor in that. I don't do that at all and I can still beat the computer regularly. Like all racing games it's all depends on your driving skills. Edited July 28, 2007 by F360°

Maybe I just suck at driving...

Everyone has different taste so what can I say. I love driving, and have done some amateur level racing before. But GT tries so hard to be "realistic" that it just saps any fun out of it. I can understand the appeal of collecting the hundreds of cars, because that's like porn for car guys but the actual gameplay isn't a fun experience. myk
And that's exactly why I was playing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit on the PS1 while everyone else was trying to figure out how to play GT1 (or was it 2?). For me, realism is good and fun up to a point only. If I want to be that realistic about race car driving I'll go out and actually drive a race car. If I'm on one of my consoles, I just want to be able to powerslide, drift or whatever on a whim and not have to worry about the physics of everything. The new GT is gorgeous but I'll stick with NFS or Project Gotham...

Or as realistic as it gets, and still be a playable (thus, enjoyable) game.

Sorry 4 spelling I'm typing on my phone http://www.sonystyle.com/wcsstore/SonyStyl...df/bd-offer.pdf You know what really bugs me about GT4? When you're doing the rally races and you nidge the guy or hit the wall, you get a 5 second penalty, but he's nudges me and hit the wall, and doesn't seem to get penalized at all. Rrrrggrgg... I still love the game, though. I play it whilst riding my exercise bike. It keeps me from getting bored (exercise is extremely boring to me). I'm almost at the 50% completion mark. Hooray! JsARCLIGHT
I have to agree that the GT series computer opponents are extremely cheap. In past iterations of the game I've noticed that the computer routinely "kneecaps" one or two of the racers and makes them extra stupid... they don't actually spin out or crash, they just race slow. Then there are the one or two "invincibles" who hold a near perfect race line and you yourself have to race extremely "clean" in order to beat them... or just overpower them with a stronger car. Actually the thing that pisses me off the most about the computer cars is that they don't seem to suffer from the sharp turns as much as your vehicle does... either that or I just can't DRIFTZ properly in the game. Then again I have a hard time controlling video game cars... there is this complete detachment for me, the lack of inertia and the true "feel" of the car makes me misjudge a lot of stuff in the game (and all car racing games to a good degree). I have no sense of how "fast" I'm going and taking a second to glance down at the spedo is just enough time for me to goof something up and crash... to that degree I always over power my turn entries and wind up doing the hard accel/hard brake/hard accel/hard break driving which results in the computer cars constantly passing me, me overtaking them on the straights then them overtaking me again in the turns. bandit29
Ya same feeling here about the A.I. of GT. Moving them out of the way is harder than them moving you out of the way. Also I have a hard time getting excited about racing a Mitsubishi or a Mazda...yeah zzz but thats just me. The PS3 demo was alright just not that fun. downloaded the Heavenly Sword demo...wow some pretty sweet moves and graphics....I'm still missing that feedback rumble. Also the demo can be done 5 minutes. After playing this piece of eye candy, I wonder how good GOW 3 will look in a few years.
GutsAndCasca
Well. I've finallly gotten to experience "gaming online with a console." I tried playing Resistance FOM and got my butt handed to me 20 times in 10 seconds. That had zErO fun in it. Rainbow Six Vegas is cool, but literally everyone talking on there with a microphone cusses up a storm to the point where it's annoying. I mute them, but then I can't hear what some dickheads are saying to me, thus I don't follow their directions, and I get kicked off servers. I got kicked off a server because the guy who owned it wanted to be the person to capture a suit case (thus winning the battle) and I didn't heed him. And I'm not kidding when I say this - some people must spend half of their life sitting at their PS3 playing Rainbow Six online, judging from the skill and "extras" accumulated by them.
