UN Spacy Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Looks like Wii's Weather Channel has just launched. Anyone try it out?
wolfx Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 You peeps are mad. I can't imagine lining up in the cold for anything.

UN Spacy Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Alright the Weather Channel did not have my city but Fremont is just as good.
HoveringCheesecake Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 You peeps are mad. I can't imagine lining up in the cold for anything. I laugh when people complain about this "cold" weather. I would have waited in that no problem. Come to North Dakota and wait overnight. Blegh.
JELEINEN Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Alright the Weather Channel did not have my city but Fremont is just as good. I had to put stupid Omaha in for mine. Also, the info it gave was over four hours old. Honestly, not sure if weather will be something I'll use much. I'm really curious about the news thing. I wonder if it'll just be hooked into a wire service or will there be more to it.
Gunbuster Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Does anyone know why the Wii glows blue when it's "off" (meaning the LED is orange, yea, I know about the wii 24 thing). The slot of my wii was just glowing blue for the longest time until I turn on my wii, I thought maybe it's a sign that is downloading something. Has this happen to anyone here?

I believe this will solve your questions. Clickie I got confused at first and thought my Wii was broken so it should clear up a few questions, I wish there was a option to keep the illumination on all the time. It would look so cool. Gunbuster Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Thanks for the link. and I agree there should be an option, It looked pretty cool in the dark :-)

It's not hard to do actually. There are "ways". Some people have taken it to the extreme even. Edited December 20, 2006 by Gaijin

Ishimaru Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 It's not hard to do actually. There are "ways". Some people have taken it to the extreme even. I don't want any mods to screw my warranty. I heard something of someones messing around with the Wii OS to adjust settings to your own favor. The blinking in that video is just plainly annoying though... I just want the light to stay blue, is that too damn hard to ask for? Nintendo should have allowed this in as a option since in every advertisement of the system, the disc slot illuminated. Oh well, maybe a system update will come by soon.

Oh well, maybe a system update will come by soon. You don't even have to "mod" it to get the light to do different things. I just threw that in for the novelty since it seems everyone wants their Wii's to glow blue always for some reason. You don't have to make it blink. You can adjust it to stay on if that would be what you wanted. But yes, you'd have to do a bit of "adjusting". Why would you want the light on always anyways? Just curious. Gunbuster Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Why would you want the light on always anyways? Just curious. Cause it looks cool ;; Why do people put lights underneath their cars? cause someone people thinks it looks cool
Gaijin Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Cause it looks cool ;; Why do people put lights underneath their cars? cause someone people thinks it looks cool So I guess we'll see a giant spoiler, some Kanji painted on the side, and a sticker that reads "MUGEN" on Wiis shortly.
Ishimaru Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Cause it looks cool ;; Why do people put lights underneath their cars? cause someone people thinks it looks cool He answered it for me.
UN Spacy Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Look what's coming for the Virtual Console in the next two weeks. Super Mario Bros (NES) Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (SNES) Super Castlevania IV (SNES) Toe Jam & Earl (Genesis) R-Type (TurboGraphx) BaseBall (NES) Urban Champion (NES) That PLUS they're beta testing for the Opera based Wii browser in a few days. YIPPY.

It means there's a breach of the containment field. I advise you to throw it away now, less you want to die a horrible lingering death by radiation poisoning! Graham
Zeta Otaku Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Hello from Zeta's Wii! A trial version of the internet channel is available now. It's not bad and you can even get porn and youtube but they really need a keyboard for this
myk Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Lol. That reminds me of the days when I used my Sega Saturn for internet surfing...
Wes Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Hello from Zeta's Wii! A trial version of the internet channel is available now. It's not bad and you can even get porn and and now I'm sold. But doesn't it take GC controllers as well? They got keyboards for that if you look hard enough.
UN Spacy Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Hello from Zeta's Wii! A trial version of the internet channel is available now. It's not bad and you can even get porn and... ...stock quotes. Porn quotes. I love YOU George.
Zeta Otaku Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 and now I'm sold. But doesn't it take GC controllers as well? They got keyboards for that if you look hard enough. True, but I don't know if they'd work for this as you use the Wii remote to type on an on screen keyboard. I'm tempted to try plugging in my spare USB keyboard to see if that'll work.
JELEINEN Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 The browser is cool, but it desparately needs a way to make fonts bigger (and I don't mean the zoom function). The auto complete makes 'typing' with the remote a bit easier (though wanting to put ".us" every time I type a period is kind of lame; who actually uses .us?). Oh, and it really needs to mask passwords. Overall though, it's pretty neet. I loved their download progress indicator.
Hikuro Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Woohoo, just a little while to go and I can play the Wii wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!
Ladic Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Zelda Twilight princess is $39.99 for both Wii and GC at Target tomorrow the 26th, for anyone that still wants to pick it up. I'm picking it up myself for GC (dont have wii). Are the graphics the same for both systems?
kensei Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Damn you guys are lucky that the shops are open for Boxing Day. At least the shops will be open from 9 till 9 tomorrow I suppose.
Hikuro Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I love the Wii, my old man and I were playing Wiisports lastnight for a few hours and got pretty competitive, he beat me 8-5 at Baseball, but I kicked his ass Rocky style in Boxing, and then beat him pretty harshly at golf. But him and I have logged in a total of 5 hours on Zelda but we both got stuck in the same spot so we've been comparing notes. It's odd though, I never see him playing games, but he really likes how interactive the Wii is with the remote. Sadly however, I don't have a clue how I can get mine online since it uses only USB cables and I don't have that ability.
kensei Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Apparently because it's more interactive, you get a lot more participation from people who would otherwise not be playing games.
Gaijin Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Sadly however, I don't have a clue how I can get mine online since it uses only USB cables and I don't have that ability. The Wii has Wi-Fi. All you would need is to create a wireless network for it to connect. If you don't have a wireless network, all you'd need is a wireless router.
UN Spacy Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Anyone else get Wii related items for Christmas?
Graham Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Nintendo WEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Sorry. Graham
rnurmin Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Graham: You know, if Nintendo Wii decides to release a Macross game (where players can use the remote and nunchuk), I'm pretty sure you will be pshcyed "WEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Nintendo WEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Sorry. Graham
Radd Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Zelda Twilight princess is $39.99 for both Wii and GC at Target tomorrow the 26th, for anyone that still wants to pick it up. I'm picking it up myself for GC (dont have wii). Are the graphics the same for both systems? From what I've heard, the only graphical difference is that the world is mirrored for the Wii version (right is left), and the Wii version supports widescreen and the gamecube version doesn't. It seemed to me that the Wii version had some graphical effects that I hadn't seen in Gamecube games before, such as the liberal use of light bloom and video filters, but I dunno if that's really a Wii-specific thing, or just that they'd only just gotten around to coaxing such effects out of the Gamecube.
Duke Togo Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I'm kinda out of the whole console thing right now, but from everything I've read in the press (gaming and non-gaming), it sounds like the Wii is the big winner. May have to pick one up sometime next year.
