Doctor Reggae Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I like that black Prime too...reminds me of the Nucleon Quest repaint of Powermaster Prime from several years ago. If I had the money, I'd get him right away...but I'm trying to save up for MP Starscream as it is.
Fit For Natalie Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Prototypes of Gameboy/PSP TF, camera-TF and cell phone-TF. Most likely from the movie Ack. Those pictures really make me wish Kawamori's designs had been done in MP-01 scale. Only if he'd taken the truck mode into account. I'm willing to give him that scale played a factor, but that truck is woeful.
Valkyrie Nut Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Hot Rod looks cool but I'm not sure it'll be worth getting considering the price of the Kiss Player figures
Radd Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Only if he'd taken the truck mode into account. I'm willing to give him that scale played a factor, but that truck is woeful. We're in 100% agreement. The MP-01 truck is nothing special, but at least it doesn't have that huge gap. I'm of the opinion that this was a concession to the size of the toy, though. Hot Rod looks cool but I'm not sure it'll be worth getting considering the price of the Kiss Player figures I'd be surprised, and dissapointed, if Hot Rod didn't make it to the West in the Alternator's line. Remember the Asterisk line in Japan? Sunstreaker came from that. On the other hand, I don't think the other Asterisk repaints came out here. Meh. We can still hope, right?

If he does come here, I hope hasro makes the visor translucent green an d gets rid of those flames on the arms . They just look corny to me.
eriku Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Those gadgetformers are probably the coolest thing I've seen from TF in a long time. Nothing says G1 like boring real-world gadgets that turn into cool looking robots. The gamebot is so remaniscent of Soundwave I almost wish they had given it Soundwave's head.
promethuem5 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 The electronics TFs are neat... a good idea for a movie tie-in (even if their role in the movie is stupid.)
kensei Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I would feel really sorry, REALLY SORRY for a transformer that ended up as a camera, cell phone, or gameboy.
GobotFool Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I would feel really sorry, REALLY SORRY for a transformer that ended up as a camera, cell phone, or gameboy. Well, I can guess the camera is supposed to be reflector.
eriku Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I would feel really sorry, REALLY SORRY for a transformer that ended up as a camera, cell phone, or gameboy. What about a tape deck? Or a microscope?
ghostryder Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I would feel really sorry, REALLY SORRY for a transformer that ended up as a camera, cell phone, or gameboy. We did feel sorry for them...

wolfx Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Someone's Starscream. I like teh Tampo prints.
kensei Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 They didn't really think of the presentation of the back...
Twoducks Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Helloooooo MP SS Really like the weathered look... but the white stripes on the shoulders are to chipped to be an out of the box SS.
UN Spacy Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I'm still waiting for anime accurate colors.
David Hingtgen Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Or real-world colors. "Green grey" is neither G1 toy nor G1 cartoon nor current-gen real world. Anyone else think the wing stripes are messed up? They don't follow the leading edge--they're off by like 5 degrees--they're too far forward as they reach the tip. Looks stupid/careless IMHO. "No step" way too prominent IMHO. They're quite subtle in real life. But even most model kits have them way over done, so I wouldn't expect a toy to do better. And I still think the big-ass gaps between the engine nozzles and the shrouds looks godawful. Surely there's a way to get rid of that gap while allowing articulation. It'd also prevent that "hanging at odd angles" look every pic of the nozzles have. And the color's off, too. Nozzles usually match the shrouds decently, shouldn't be too obvious of a color change. As opposed to silver shrouds and dark bronze nozzles.
Dobber Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I like it, but then again I never had a problem with it. I guess they realized the earlier color was too Thundercrackerish. Chris
David Hingtgen Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 PS--I still think there's a good chance that's still a prototype. We've seen far less "green" ones that had a cleaner look, closer to a final version. My hope is still that Hasbro somehow got the original version (technically the resin prototype) and decided to produce their own mold off that, and will make an Alternator version. Just get rid of all the gimmicks like the opening nosecone and airbrake, and you could reduce the cost a lot. And the transformation's a lot simpler. G1 colors, reduced price=lots of sales. Still, MP Prime didn't do that well here AFAIK. But combined with the movie and a presumably lower price, an Alt SS could do a lot better.
eriku Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Everything about MP SS looks great to me, especially knowing the hip kibble can be removed completely or placed on the legs. That damn color is the only thing keeping me from ordering one right now. That greenish grey is just plain lousy. I'd hate it on any toy.
Tober Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Everything about MP SS looks great to me, especially knowing the hip kibble can be removed completely or placed on the legs. I haven't seen any pics showing the hip kibble can be removed or has an optional attachment point on the legs. I think that was just speculation. The only pictures I've seen with the kibble on the legs are on the earliest prototype, when the crown was showen in the line art as well. But I would like that to be the case. I guess we will know soon enough - HLJ has my MP-03 and MP-04 order in their processing department so it should arrive here early next week. I imagine that the final colors are as we now see them on the box.
wolfx Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Classics Grimlock And pictures of Atari and Auto-trooper Kiss Players. http://www.moeyo.com/2006/09/post_1216.html
wolfx Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Found loads more for classics. Mirage grimlock bumblebee optimus prime
wolfx Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Starscream Astrotrain (triple changer) Megatron rodimus prime
Fit For Natalie Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 (edited) TF Classics have been released in the US, first spotted at a chain called 'Fred Myer', whatever that is. PS--I still think there's a good chance that's still a prototype. We've seen far less "green" ones that had a cleaner look, closer to a final version. My hope is still that Hasbro somehow got the original version (technically the resin prototype) and decided to produce their own mold off that, and will make an Alternator version. Its out now, and I believe the picture comes from somebody on the japanese TF Image board. Colours can change depending on the camera, plus the background the owner shot it on influences the reflected colour on the toy... besides the posing is abit unprofessional-looking for Takara's photographers Still better than Hasbro photography LOLApparently a fair number of japanese TF fans are rather unhappy with this toy, and don't want Kawamori to have anything to do with TF anymore. VF Strike Valk Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Sweet...Megatron looks like a Nerf gun!
Radd Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Apparently a fair number of japanese TF fans are rather unhappy with this toy, and don't want Kawamori to have anything to do with TF anymore. Any word on why, though? Simple asthetics, or something more, flaws with the toy itself?
Radd Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 And I must say, the Classics line is looking nice. Though I really wish that rather than orange and green and purple, perhaps read for the purple and orange spots, a bright enough colour that stands out from real guns, not to mention the already light grey body, and maybe made the translucent plastic a dark grey, or a darker red. It would stillobviously be a toy at just a glance, but also look so much nicer. Of course, they may be limited on the colours possibly by state laws. I'd rather they avoid the whole mess and make him a tank or artillary piece.
Twoducks Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Apparently a fair number of japanese TF fans are rather unhappy with this toy, and don't want Kawamori to have anything to do with TF anymore. Or put in a less sensationalistic way: some of the comments on the Japanese page (where the greenish SS pic was posted) when translated using one of those online headache inducing translation pages sounded unhappy to the user that put the pic in tfw2005.com. The whole Kawamori thing is in just one message, nothing more: "In the future we want the river Mori (Kawamori - babel fish is funny that way) person removing from development." Another user (who is from Kobe, Japan, according to his profile) in that forum says this: I'm not seeing the one you...translated However, a much clearer and more truer Japanese Transfan reaction to the new piece would be "pleased." Most are complaining about the color scheme and seriously can't wait for the "anime" version, but other than that, they seem to be quite happy with Kawamori's work. His post Using google I also see the “river Mori person removing from development†message, but that is the only reference to Kawamori apart from the opening comment. Most of what is "translated" I can't undestand. Original page Translated using google
Twoducks Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 The removable looking ball jointed hip kibble that some people didn't like... well, it's removable and able to attach to the feet (to look close to the original prototype). Taken from here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showpost.php...p;postcount=167 More pics here: http://tformers.com/ig.php?mode=album&...800&start=0 Now, with all the different grey tones this thing has sported, I can only guess that SS has a hidden "magic" gimmick: he changes colour with hot and cold water!!!!! (in a clear homage to all those old toys that used said gimmick). Trully an awesome toy that homages everything.
mister_e Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I think SS looks pretty good. Too bad taking moving the kibble from the hips to the legs leaves two ugly (and very prominent) ball joints exposed on his hips though.
wolfx Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I dont' mind this SS one bit. I'm really annoyed about 1 thing though. They did everything for SS, tampo prints, panel lines, but the professor dude just gets his lab coat colored white?! What's with that?
Dobber Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Actually I don't understand why they didn't tampo print the SS tailcode that was shown before. I really liked that. I wonder if it is included as a sticker or they just left it out all together. Chris
Metal_Massacre_79 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 (edited) Too bad taking moving the kibble from the hips to the legs leaves two ugly (and very prominent) ball joints exposed on his hips though. Maybe if you cut his balls off it won't mess up the sturdiness of his jet mode. The entire classics line looks great, other than Dildotrain, and Megaytron. At least we have a good version of BB now.
