Tober Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 I finally found a Jetfire! Needs a bit of Viagra for one of his head lasers. It's floppy and doesn't like to stay up. Still a spiffy toy. Thanks for the tip. I never realised that Viagra could be administered to toys as a cure for laser erection problems.
JB0 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Thanks for the tip. I never realised that Viagra could be administered to toys as a cure for laser erection problems. Yeah. Problem is it needs to be administered orally, and Jetfire doesn't have a mouth while the helmet's on.
Tober Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Given that the version of Megatron that's included with the Convoy and Magnus Masterpieces has the silencer and stock I'd say there's a good chance we will see them included in a later release. Seems likley to me given Takara's latest marketing practices.
Chewie Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 (edited) LaF toys is sold out but they do give a good bit of information. Seems they can get away with not adding the tip because he comes packaged in bot mode. Anyone think other companies will follow their example? Edited December 25, 2006 by Chewie
Hikuro Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 The new movie TFs are being designed by the same people who worked on the new Star Wars movies, ILM Actually ILM has done all of the Starwars films. It was thanks to Starwars that they even still exist and are highly recommended for special visual effects.
JB0 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 The "still" in there is a bit out of place, as they were originally created explicitly FOR Star Wars.
Metal_Massacre_79 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Well, the kid was a happy little boy yesterday. He now has one more TF Classics than I do (I'm missing Mirage, but he has it). He just got Prime from "Santa" and now that I've had the chance to open it (mine are still MISB) I gotta say this figure is one of the best so far. Transformation is easy, very posable, sturdy, and it looks cool too.
do not disturb Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 i tossin this out there perhaps they don't want to include a extended stock and barrel with megs since it'll make it look like a firearm even if its shipped in robot mode. you see a robot, then you see a shoulder stock and what looks to be a silencer, what would you as a customs worker do? as i said way back in the other TF thread, they can avoid the megatron gun law toy issue by packaging it in robot mode, but they can't avoid the gun issue if they include things that look like gun accessories...

gerwalk25 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 (edited) I got Classics LoC Leo Prime and Fireflight from a friend plus Superman 2 directors cut and Guitar Hero 1. For mini versions of Cybertron/Galaxy Force figures these two are as good as their larger counterparts. <borat>Very Nice!</borat> Edited December 27, 2006 by gerwalk25
HoveringCheesecake Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Well, after a few months hunting I finally found Jetfire at Wally-world. He's pretty neat. I can't believe that some people were saying he was as good as a Yamato, though. That is laughable.

Fit For Natalie Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 True - but Jetfire is the kind of toy you can play with. Yamatos are 'carefully transform and then admire' collectables. i tossin this out there perhaps they don't want to include a extended stock and barrel with megs since it'll make it look like a firearm even if its shipped in robot mode. you see a robot, then you see a shoulder stock and what looks to be a silencer, what would you as a customs worker do? as i said way back in the other TF thread, they can avoid the megatron gun law toy issue by packaging it in robot mode, but they can't avoid the gun issue if they include things that look like gun accessories... I doubt Takara cares about overseas customers, as they main distribute in Japan and greater asia, which usually don't have the same toy gun restrictions, so customs wouldn't be a problem. They didn't include the stock and silencer either due to budget, the price increase the parts would entail, AND because they want to release Megatron later and need an incentive for peoplr to buy him again. That's why they didn't include Roller with MP-04. If need be, they can release MP-08 Ultimate Perfect KO Red Impact Random-English-Words-That-Make-No-Sense-As-A-Product-Name Edition Masterpiece Convoy with Roller
kensei Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 True - but Jetfire is the kind of toy you can play with. Yamatos are 'carefully transform and then admire' collectables. I'll give you that one with Jetfire, sort of. If we are basically comparing that with the VF-1, it's about even. The 1/48 VF-1 is the most simple and solid design of the large scale toys to date (YF-19, VF-0, VB-6, but not counting the Q-Rau).
GobotFool Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I've never found the 1/48s to be that fiddily. Personally, I think most TFormer fans have the, if I can't make it transform in 4 moves I lose interest mentality, considering how negativly some reacted to binaltech and the MPs. I'm definitly in the more complex the TFormation the more interested I am kind of guy. Though complexity doesn't matter as long as all the modes look good, and I still say jetfires plane mode is one of the ugliest airplane alt modes of the newer tformers.

The 1/48's are a JOY to transform compared to binaltechs and the MPs, imo. Things move in 1 direction and there are relatively few steps. I find the arms on many of the binaltechs as well as the torso folding of MP convoy and SS to be just a pain.
eugimon Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 it just takes some practice. thanks, that's brilliant of you.
LORD KUNGFU Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 thanks, that's brilliant of you. no problem. I like to help. Some do consider it genius. Whick is like, better than brilliant. I cant wait for the Transfomos movie to come out.

Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Well, after a few months hunting I finally found Jetfire at Wally-world. He's pretty neat. I can't believe that some people were saying he was as good as a Yamato, though. That is laughable. Jetfire is an awesome figure. However I do not think it is a fair comparison for him to be compared to a 1/48, if you ask me, if the $100+ 1/48 was comparable to the $20 Jetfire, I'd be pretty damn pissed. Now a masterpiece jetfire I can see being comparable but since there is none yet, there can be no comparison. Its like comparing copper to gold, why bother? For what it does and what it features, Jetfire is an awesome buy well worth the $20.

He's ain't a 1/48 that's for sure, and he'll never be up to that level, so I don't care. But I can be a bit rougher, and if he drops off a table I can just shrug.
JB0 Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 That's more or less my take. If I wanted something fancier, I'd buy Masterpiece Starscream, or a Yamato. Jetfire's smaller, simpler, and cheaper. Aside from the limp laser, the only thing I really think needed adding at this price point is solid inner walls on the rifle. ... Well, and retractable fists, but the arm packs hide those fairly well.

Well, and retractable fists, but the arm packs hide those fairly well. One thing I would have absolutely loved was a more F-14 based, sleeker cockpit. Ramjet has one, why not Jetfire? Nonetheless since the nose is an homage to the cartoon g1 skyfire, I can live with it. Still...it would look cool if it had an F-14's nose and canopy. Its the best mass market tf jet since g2 cyberjet jetfire. And he is obviously better than the armada trilogy jetfires(as cool as some of those were, I was tired of seeing Jetfire as some shuttle or cargo plane). I think I am in the minority here but I actually like the helmet and armored look.....mainly because it changes the appearance substantially. With this I feel like I am getting more bang for the buck than paying the same for prime and megatron. BTW Toysrus is having a buy 2, get 1 free sale on ALL tf merchandise til new years. I recently bought Grimlock, Mirage, and Bumblebee. Bumblebee I like more than I thought I would, definitely a solid lil bugger and his car door locking mechanism to the arms in robot mode is impressive, I wish they made something like that for classics prime. Mirage is freaking awesome.....most poseable classic and very fun to fiddle with. Grimlock is bad ass through and through, I like the gun blade and I use his whip as a huge ass broadsword....think 2x4 made of cement+shape of a sword=blunt force annhialation. His articulation is great as well, just wish his arms could actually lock into place onto the torso.

It seems to make his head out of proportion with his body. I've also been varying the wing position in robot mode. He's just so darn versatile! BTW Toysrus is having a buy 2, get 1 free sale on ALL tf merchandise til new years. Oooohhhh... Methinks it's time to do a raid! ... Not that I'll find a Grimlock. But I can pretend.
HoveringCheesecake Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I went into TRU yesterday... all of the TF pegs were EMPTY. There were a few Cybertron Voyagers, but NO classics! Amazing.
kensei Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 That's what annoys me too. Then again, the shelf with Alternators Optimus Prime is chockers full here.......
Dangaioh Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 (edited) Finally picked up Mirage from the classics line, and it's not bad at all. It has head, shoulder, elbow, waist, and leg articulation... "All you Transformer bricks, fear his kicks!" [attachmentid=39296] Edited December 29, 2006 by Dangaioh

It has head, shoulder, elbow, waist, and leg articulation... "All you Transformer bricks, fear his kicks!" Classics Mirage is a downright great figure. I really didn't like him intially but picked him up after i saw all of the great poses he could pull off and out of all the classics released so far i think he's my favorite. Granted i don't own Megs and i haven't picked up a Jetfire yet, but still he's a pretty top notch figure esp. when you consider how much he costs. Edited December 29, 2006 by Veritas

Pretty much the ugliest alternator to see a release sums it up for me. Edited December 29, 2006 by Veritas
kensei Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I like it how it breaks the mold, but that's about it.
