Chindenathus Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Just saw my first pics of MP Megatron. http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/viewimage....takara_mp05.JPG I am gonna call him Poliotron! Two things: Mp Megs has thin legs from the front and rear angles due to his staying relatively tru to the original transformation scheme. If the made his legs thicker, everyone would batty about how wide the handle was in gun-mode. Polio causes muscular atrophy due to neural paralysis. I know, my father survived it. I would be appreciative if it were not brought up again. Vote with your wallet folks, if you don't like it don't buy it.
Macross73 Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 The easiest thing to do about the legs, I think, is to fatten them up with some styrene or something.
GobotFool Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I think it's rather clever how they made the trigger flip down and the rear handle flip out and forward to fatten up his lower legs. to bad nothing can be done for his upperlegs.
Phyrox Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Just saw my first pics of MP Megatron. http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/viewimage....takara_mp05.JPG I am gonna call him Poliotron! HAHA, I like "Poliotron." Besides the legs, his scope/bazooka seems far too large to me. It may be the size that it is in real life, but it looks goofy. How is he going to lift that arm? The design is ingenious, sure. But not that hot looking.
nightmareB4macross Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 The easiest thing to do about the legs, I think, is to fatten them up with some styrene or something. That's what I mentioned to a fellow MWer. Make covers that would make MP Megs look beefier. I love the sculpt, but the scrawny legs on MP Megs is a definite no no.
kensei Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I've seen a Vector Prime in a local toy store. This is the Hasbro Cybertron one, but the box says "Galaxy Force Vector Prime." He's basically a Vector prime with Gold accents replacing the whites. Is this a rare figure? Is it worth a lot?

He is actually based off an early Gonzo CG render.
David Hingtgen Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Far more important than its rarity (or lack thereof), is the fact that it looks cooler than any other version.
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Far more important than its rarity (or lack thereof), is the fact that it looks cooler than any other version. I agree. If only it had the airbrushed touches that the one on shown on the box has! Ah well, still good nonetheless. Anyone else think this one resembles the gold skeletor from a couple years back?
kensei Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I might get it then. It does look a lot better. I've never seen a Vector Prime that actually looked right like in the anime, it's only the really white ones, I thought he was really grey.
Fit For Natalie Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 ooooh, over at tfw2005 there's a post saying Gonzo will be animating and the beast wars team writing the new TF cartoon series...! Pretty good news to me. Beast Wars is still my favorite story line out of all the transformers incarnations. Post actually said it was a rumour, and Kickback posted his own rumour about the next series that had completely different information.

I've never seen a Vector Prime that actually looked right like in the anime, it's only the really white ones, I thought he was really grey. Japanese Galaxy Force release was a silvery grey, but the harder blue plastic on it meant the sword was especially prone to breaking at the peg/hilt. According to Hasbro, softer, rubbery plastic actually costs more than regular hard ABS plastic. They usually use it for safety reasons and to prevent breakage on parts that are likely to be weak if made from regular hard plastic.
Roy's Blues Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I have a MP-03 MISB for sale on Ebay. Check the sig
wolfx Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hey Wolf, You should post pics of Jetty and the VF-1S together for comparison. Sorry late reply.....had no internets during the weekend. >_< And sorry too cuz my digicam is out of service for the time being. And as for Grimlock, i'm loving the dino mode and i actually find myself transforming the thing to bot mode and back to dino mode everytime i feel fidgety while uttering "Me Grimlock, SMASH!" I wished he still had his "wings" though.

GobotFool Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I really don't get why everyone is so excited over the jetfire. The bot mode is nice enough, but as a jet I really can't get over the fact that the nose looks like a brick glued onto a sleak f-14's body. Are we just that starved for a toy that vaguely resembles skyfire? Now if a MP skyfire was made that really was accurate to the toon design, that is something I'd be willing to slap down money for.

Are we just that starved for a toy that vaguely resembles skyfire? Now if a MP skyfire was made that really was accurate to the toon design, that is something I'd be willing to slap down money for. Well for me, I was tired of Jetfire ALWAYS being made into some transport aircraft in the more recent cartoons. In armada he was a shuttle, same with energon, in cybertron he was a cargo plane. I wanted him to be a fighter jet, some sort of aggressive aircraft, space or air, that WASN'T a shuttle. Either that or the g1 skyfire alt mode in the cartoon. Bear in mind I loved the g2 jetfire incarnation(the NATF based design). So the new alt mode as well as the dual toy jetfire g1 and cartoon skyfire homage sealed the deal for me. If he was a shuttle again it would not please me as much. So basically, I was starved for a fighter jetfire, I was tired of him being a cargo plane of some sort.
wolfx Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 LOL.....everyone here transforms him with his wings down. I prefer it to be up, as canon. I don't mind the "bricky" jet. I'm quite impressed at how sleek it looks though without the backpack, and almost has the same body shape as a F-14. I don't mind owning a MP version of this Jetfire, if they could somehow get him to be more proportionate looking. Maybe if the chest sink lower, and the helmet head was smaller, and he's abit taller. Here's the stormbringer comic art he was based on.
Ivan Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I actually thinks the Jetfire bot mode looks too chubby. His fighter mode is okay though.
buddhafabio Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 is starscream mp 03 coming to the states or should i snatch one off of ebay?
Twoducks Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 is starscream mp 03 coming to the states or should i snatch one off of ebay? Hasbro said they didn't have any immediate plans so don't expect anything at least until they finish milking the movie. You could wait until Takara announces an anime repaint. Prizes for the MP-03 would more than likely go down and used ones would pop up on Ebay (if you want the MP-03 colour scheme that is).

mpchi Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Kiss Player Hot Rodimus short review Hmm... Surprised that not a whole lot of discussion on this guy. Just got mine last night. Its a fun piece, and the best looking bot in my BT family for sure. http://pony-hp3.web.infoseek.co.jp/TFKISS-HOT.htm While I am not that excited about the whole Kiss theme, its not that bad after I got it in hand and listened to the drama CD. Its meant to be comic relief more than anything. And some TF fans labeling it as 'child porn' is just a bit too extreme. On Hot Rod particularly, its sort of a side story, as Hot Rod resumed his identity from Rodimus Prime after feeling incompetent as the new leader and handed over Ultra Magnus his Matrix. Then he fled back to Earth. However, Earth is being attacked by a new type of evil transformers called Legion (pronounce as Le Gi On), and the good transformers like Hot Rod needs the Kiss Power that a handful of girls posses in order to power-up and battle these Legions. So happened Hot Rod met Syao Syao(one of the Kiss Player girls) and became partners. And how does Hot Rod get its power-up? By a kiss from Syao Syao LOL . So with a back story like that, and you try to take it all serious, then you sure have some issue. The illustration with Syao Syao kissing Hot Rod just cracks me up. Its weird, its wrong(in a TF world), but sure its funny and very 'Japanese'. Now back to the toy. How good is it? In terms of design, its the best in BT line in my book. No tricky parts that don't like to go into place. Joints are sturdy, and figure super well weight balance, thanks to the yellow feet extender on the back. Poseability is top notch as well. You can pull off a lot of kung fu poses on this one (fits the story too as Syao Syao & Hot Rod here are kung fu experts). While I am not a big fan of Ford design, this GT-40 is still a beauty and granted some really nice shapes to make Hot Rod looks that much batter in robot mode. The yellow hands aren't that bad, and actually give the 'flamy guy' some contrast and accent. I hear a lot of people complained about them. But when I check back on other Hot Rod toy incarnations, he just got orange hands. So yeah, big difference. Though I do think if he got orange thighs, he would look even better. So whats the bad part? Paint. While they made the car finish nice and glossy, the inner robot part paint job is kind of sloppy. Not as bad as in some Alternator versions, but still not good enough for a $60+ TF. Overspray is often, and edges not very sharp and clean. Even got some of the flames on one arm all blurred(probably the spray got mis-aligned), and touch up on the silver face(made my Hot Rod look older, more like Rodimus Prime LOL). Also, the Exhaust Eliminator (fishing rod gun) doesn't clip on the arm tight and falls off easy. Its such a signature piece for Hot Rod that you would expect a better designed clamp for it. In conclusion, this sure is the coolest BT bot, and Takara picked the right design for an important character like Hot Rod. Its very playable and stands really well. But the somewhat sloppy paint in some robot parts definitely doesn't make up for the lack of diecast, and high price tag. So definitely not a 'best bang for the buck' release. But if you want the best looking BT, you kind of have to bite the bullet.
cube Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 looks like he's wearing a cowboy hat...pretty cool other than that though.
Doctor Reggae Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 For those of us that are following IDW's comics, Chris Ryall posted the first pic of their Galvatron on their forums, as done by Alex Milne. Check it here: http://forums.idwpublishing.com/cgi-bin/ik...1;t=2567;st=300 or here: http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic...1665461#1665461
Briareos Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Oh, what would I ever do to get them to make a Masterpiece Galvatron. "Is that you Megatron?" "Here's a hint!"
eriku Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Galvatron now acts in scat pr0n? Either that or some sort of wretched alien Bukkake.
GobotFool Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 actually, after he gets thrown out of unicron at the end of the movie, he lands in a giant lava pit which drives him insane.
Metal_Massacre_79 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Looks more like Unicron took a dump and had bloody stool at the same time.
Radd Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 actually, after he gets thrown out of unicron at the end of the movie, he lands in a giant lava pit which drives him insane. I'm fairly certain it wasn't the lava, nor the being tossed, what drove him insane.
JB0 Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I'm fairly certain it wasn't the lava, nor the being tossed, what drove him insane. Megatron always was a little "special." Being turned into a purple sex toy just pushed him over the edge.
Fit For Natalie Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 While I am not that excited about the whole Kiss theme, its not that bad after I got it in hand and listened to the drama CD. Its meant to be comic relief more than anything. And some TF fans labeling it as 'child porn' is just a bit too extreme. Its due to the comic itself - naked underage looking girls covered in white goop, and being eaten by robots with long-penis-shaped tongues (complete with penis-details), drawn by an artist who has reportedly done work on lolicon. Perhaps its not intended to be child porn specifically, but it clearly has been written with some of Japan's disturbing sexual fetishes in mind. Its disturbing and somewhat revolting for people brought up on western values (which are what TF are founded upon, even Takara has admitted this). Now, of course, some asians and japan-favouring westerners are quick to defend it because of culture differences or some such argument. The yellow hands aren't that bad, and actually give the 'flamy guy' some contrast and accent. I hear a lot of people complained about them. But when I check back on other Hot Rod toy incarnations, he just got orange hands. So yeah, big difference. Erm, yellow is a different colour to orange. Its not a simply different shade of yellow. But I can see what they were going for - the hands being part of the flames in the lower arms. Galvatron now acts in scat pr0n? Crazy Takara decided to use that piece of artwork as the boxart for their reissue G1 Galvatron toys last year.
