Stretching Lucy is not a bad idea.

he wasn't talking about stretching lucy... he was talking about stretching "it". We all know how godzilla and kensei get a robot chubby for Yamato. :p

Thanks for the mag scan. Looking at these pics now. Really looking forward to when these are finally out.

The shoulders being able to rotate up like that really helps the battroid mode to look more natural like you see in anime where armor doesn't appear to be too restrictive and the robot can move and act almost like giant human. Really happy about that. (all the litle improvement like double jointed knees, increased posability of the shoulders is a real plus point for us "battroid mode poser/player" people.

Whatever reasons people aren't buying it because they think its fighter mode looks fat from the side is outweighed by the fact this PT toy looks great in all modes imo. I especially like how the shoulders are pushed up for gerwak mode like that. As if to maintain balance by raising the arms slightly for a landing or just gliding across the surface of the ground and needing to focus the weight close to its centre of gravity. With the increased posability it allows you to add more of that "body language" to the mecha that you see in animation. The little details like that makes a difference to me.

By the time they get around to yf21 and vf11, I reckon robot modes for future releases will look even better. (I never liked how inflexible the shoulders look on the 1/72 vf11 in battroid mode to be honest and how they are always perfectly straight) What you want is to pretty much allow for a robot to have the shoulders kind of hunched in so it can look like it is trying to focus its aim on something.

I hope this wins all kind of toy of the year awards. It's good to see a complex mecha like the 19 being made. Although I think the 19 'boob' and "dangly bits" (no not those ones hehe) makes it less practical than the vf1 robot mode, the 19 has an attitude of its own that is hard not to like in robot mode especially when you see it move around in the anime. And the gunpod imo just looks cooler than the vf1.

I'm hoping that everything locks and snaps together firmly just like the 1/48 though. That is one of the things I will be looking out for. I hated that on the 1/72 the upper half of the robot would just flip out suddenly or how the gunpod would swivel around sideways in fighter mode loosely and you would just get pissed off and not have it stored underneath there at all. These are the things I hope are all fixed.

Im sure the other additional feature would be that the two small flaps near the cockpit area are rotatable!

just look at their different positions in the gerwalk & fighter mode pictures !!

so, one of the three YF-19's greatest mysteries has been solved, what are the other 2 ?

It's funny how they would go out of thier way to deliberately hide the fact that the shoulder could move like that so that if you look at older pics you don't see it.

The thrusters in the feet light up (something similar to what others want the fold booster to do?) hehe just kidding.

The wings can angle down to look more like the 1/72?

slightly larger, non-perfect-transforming, posable, man hands? :D

Just throwing out ideas while bored.

That's been known since the first unpainted battroid pics. (moving canards). And it was also readily shown in the first post of this thread, since the individual canards were at noticeably different angles to each other in fighter mode. That's simply due to transformation, not really a feature IMHO. That'd be like listing "Z-hinged elbows"---it's there because it needs to be, not an extra gimmick. There's still 3 features to figure out. Yang/second seat is unlikely. I think the arm-mounted weapons are a good idea, but would bet they're in the FAST pack set.

Also, we never see them move on screen AFAIK (we see many other parts move at some point)---they may be fixed canards which isn't that uncommon on a plane---in the YF-19 aerodynamics thread at MN, my guess for their existence would go well with them being fixed (as well as their extreme dihedral), setting up a vortex under a specific condition---very much like most airliner's dihedralled nacelle strakes. And according to the line art, they don't flip 180 for battroid mode either. (Anime magic means they don't need to when drawn--but in real-life 3D, they need to or they won't fit) Making them movable could very well be INaccurate according to on-screen info, but needed for transformation.

Ghost booster for the VF-O??? I haven't heard of that is that for the 1/60 or for the Hasegawa 1/72 model?

This keeps getting better and better. :D I'm very happy with the hinged shoulders. I am so glad I pre-ordered this. Now how long till this is released?

Another reason why yamato releasing so much at once runs the risk of people missing out on news of some of it. Meaning they could very well not buy something just because they are not aware of its existence...

The swing shoulders look very cool. an impressive feature indeed! the fold booster looks neat, but if it isnt included Im not gooing to rush out n buy one.

and yet for some reason the ghost suddenly appeals to me more where it didnt before. wierd.

BTW--does that mean Yamato's been intentionally mis-transforming the YF-19 all this time to hide the shoulder hinge? Every one at every show and photo-shoot? Makes me wonder if they don't have a "gullet shrinking" hinge somewhere they're waiting to spring on us in fighter mode...

Hello, there probably is something within these 14 pages, but I really don't want to pour through them (call me lazy... I don't care).

When is the projected release date for this toy?

Thanks in advance.

Not mis-transforming per say, just they didn't want to show the feature until now.

Made me have a good laugh when the CAD art was first published and everyone here was bitchin and moaning about how the shoulders should angle up.

What about wings angling down? ;)

Hmmn, you knew about this before the CAD was published, and that was June. Just how far in advance do you get stuff? :)

Here's a bigger scan of the pics from the November Dengeki Hobby. I took the page out of the magazine to get it completely flat on the scanner.

Is it me our does the fighter look much sleeker in this magazine shot. Godamnit, just when I convinced myself I won't get one because the fighter is too porky.

Graham, I hate you.... not fair at all. Can I ask a question tho? Does the shoulder armor piece attatch th ethe shoulder joint and swivel from there, or is it mounted to the round piece that attatches to the body and move on a flat hinge from there? Just kinda curious where the axis of motion comes from...

And I really hope that Late November date stay true, cuz then I should be getting mine in time for X-mas, as opposed to last year when the Koenig Monster just kept getting pushed back and back (knock on wood.)

Thanks for the bigger scan.

It says that it's still planed for a 'bottom of November' release.

hm...Im thinking of revolving cockpit...it may/may not be implemented in this design...but since theyve already did that with the VF-0S & as we know, is a very simple mechanism, it wouldnt be a surprise if they use the same method for the YF-19.

just my $0.02

i wonder just for fun if the vf-0 roy will fit into the yf-19 and vice versa, it would be pretty funny to see him in it.

OMFG!!! Angled shoulders!! :blink::wacko::D

Thanks for the scans, Graham.

If this is Yamato's own special way of messin' or screwin' around with its fans, then I really don't mind!

Just think: we got two more months before the release. What other wad-blowing surprises does Yamato have in store for this bird?

I think the surprise features will be two of the following:

- method of fold booster attachment

- perhaps something to do with the feet. the YF-19 has a unique way the feet open and close at fighter.

- ball jointed neck.

- the black part above the nose where the cockpit begins can be pushed down for battroid mode.

Joke: Special glow in the dark paint, so that when you turn the lights out it glows red, to simulate entry into Earth's atmosphere. This was only a joke. :)

We should make this a contest or something. The one who comes closest to guessing the three extra features gets...I dunno.. A free trip for him and his family to Macross-con!! It would have been Macrossworld but I don't know where that's phyically located

Here's my entry:

Removable section behind the pilot for an extra seat and for a sleeping Yang Newman

The extra armaments that blew up the MK II

Missles inside the Leg Fast Packs

OMFG! Hinged shoulder pads! It's a REVOLUTION in toy making! :p

Please Yamato.. the cheesy little gimmicks are cute.. but you've historically had problems with fragile or defect-ridden toys. Make the thing solid before you make it gimmicky.

how is making the toy look like the line art "cheesy" or "cute?" sure, I guess it's more cheesy then light up eyes, or legs that are held in place with magnets, or big big metal swing bars, or missiles that fire out of the gun pod, but I think cheesy might be pushing it.

There is no question that Shaggydog is most definitely crazy. For one thing, he talks about himself in the third person.

..oh, and I've wasted a lot of time defending the Toynami MPCs on MW. Which is pretty much the definition of 'crazy'.

But, this thread is about the 1/60 YF-19. Which I'm eagerly anticipating. I just don't want it to break.
