Mr March
I know it might be hard to keep a straight face, but try http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/themarine/ Looks like it could be good enough for day when I'm really in need of an action film fix, but it looks so awful
Wes
I know right - a 1.74 for unleaded?! At first I really thought you were talking about this: http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2690790?htv=12 Crank's going to get my money that month though. Seven
Jesus, at least The Rock had acting potential, this guy is just Marky Mark on roids. Entertainment Weekly described John Cena as "a muscle-bound Matt Damon who ate another Matt Damon for breakfast".
Veritas
Wow, i really don't know how to put in context how over the top that trailer was. Def. a WWE film and def. a must see! I'm seeing a Two Thumbs Up Recommendation for this one... haha...
sketchley
Sad to say that the villian, Mr. Robert Patrick, didn't even get billing for the movie! And he (based on the trailer) gets all the good lines too!

Phyrox
You know what is really sad, my family, friends, AND I could probably all live comfortably for the rest of our lives with the budget for this movie. Man that movie looks bad. But someone must like 'em, 'cause they keep making 'em.

areaseven
Didn't WWE learn from See No Evil's reviews that they're in no position to make movies?
GobotFool
Wow, it looks like they distilled every cliche action device into a single movie.
Guppy
haha.. terrible! Although it's probably good for Robert Patrick, he's doing a good impersonation of a Walken bad guy. man, I hate dodgy computer effects like that casing eject from the gun.. it makes me think their audience is too dumb to notice. Hang on, I just reread that last sentence.

Mr March
I think I now have Snakes on a Plane to thank for avoiding this film. I just had my dumb action junkie fix yesterday, which should carry me through and past the release of this assured stinker
Mr March
Release is here and luckily, I'm in no mood to waste time and money on this film. But I have to say, I do love these kinds of films, not for watching, but for the far more entertaining reviews. They are like reading parody websites "If not for the regular fiery explosions, The Marine would be an environmentalist's dream; it's made from 100 percent recycled materials." Review on FilmCritic.com Feel free to post some funny reviews if you see em

Skullsixx
Seeing that Eric the Midget on the Stern show is dying to check out this flick indicates that I am running as far away from this POS as I can get!!!
myk
I was wondering if anyone would ever be along to replace Van Damme, Segal, "Ah-nuld" and others like them. The Marine represents the return of the mindless action genre of the late 80's and early 90's. I'm glad to see that all things old, whether they be Macross, clothes, cars, video games and whatnot, are being made new again.. Hooray for the Marine! Gaijin
Speaking of the pseudo straight to video action genre, there's a Paul Walker movie called Running Scared that is actually pretty good. I can't believe I called a Paul Walker movie pretty good, but it's above average sitting next to the Jeff Speakman and Casper Van Dien movies of the world. IIRC, The Boondock Saints was also a direct to video movie. I'm starting to think more and more sleeper films are making their way onto video. Pro wrestling has a huge following, I don't blame Cena or The Rock for cashing in on it. Running Scared was good....hardly an "action flick". It was a theatrical release btw and a not a straight to video film. Edited October 19, 2006 by Gaijin
justvinnie
Could be worse, he could have been a Marine mercenary. As my g/f pointed out on the back cover of the DOOM movie, that's ridiculous. vinnie
Noriko Takaya
i didn't realize marines liked to use dorky looking fantasy knives.. i guess K-Bars just don't cut it anymore huh? My K-Bar is plenty enough for me. Better than that POS M9 bayonette used by the Army. Any decent Marine with an average knowledge of Corps history will tell you the history of this famous knife. So John Cena can play with his girly knife because he ain't no jarhead.

And that was because it was recommended by a friend that doesn't watch any cheesy stuff.
