GutsAndCasca Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 *taking notes* This is a good drill for me and my son to go over while my wife gives us the 'look.' Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 lolz Yeah do eit man! Mine just calls me a kukuman an sighs. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I think they even still use some sound effects in gundam seed that I can recognise from macross. I wish they kept the old transforming sound from the tv series and DYRL instead of the Ka-chiiiiiing that you hear when a valk transforms. It sounds really loud and annoying. Quote
kensei Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Nah I don't mind it. Shows that they are not using the same crap over and over again. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Best thing i love about DBZ is when Goks or Veg fly off theres that sexy VF engine roarin. Heaps of anime has pinched Macross sounds!, mind you so did macross. Quote
GutsAndCasca Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Sorry to go off on a tangent here, but I was wondering. Does anybody know anything about the fast-packs for the 1/100's yet? Or what series three will be? (Will there be a series three?) Quote
do not disturb Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 you know toynamis motto... if you want to see *insert toy here* get made, keep buying the *insert toy here*. its same philosophy they used for the MPC beta that didn't happen. on a side note, does anyone know if these things are selling well? Quote
danth Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Man, when you don't hear anything from Toynami, you know it's time to doubt. And we haven't heard zip about more 1/100 stuff. I ain't holding my breath. Quote
GutsAndCasca Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I'd imagine they're selling well. I mean heck, I like'em. And I'm a pretentious bas-ard, so other people have gotta like'em too. I bet everybody on Robotech.com owns at least two. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Actually I think they go more for the MPC and not the cheaper stuff despite these actually being decent quality. Maybe they are afraid of small scale toys because it means less details? Quote
eriku Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I haven't seen these in any stores yet, so I don't even know where people would be getting them if they did want them, aside from online of course. Quote
VF Strike Valk Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 (edited) We have them here in LA...almost bought one tonight...maybe when the fast packs come out. Edited September 30, 2006 by VF Strike Valk Quote
gian7675 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Can somebody post a picture of the 1/100 valks together with the 1/100 Koenig Monster. Quote
aaajin Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 how bout some pictures of the VFttroid standing next to koenig's battroid ? Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 man, that's a suprise, the little brother of classic Monster really is a shorty isn't he. Whats the maximum crew space in the koenig? Looks like only a couple. One main pilot and a gunner behind him. Anyone have the stats? Quote
GutsAndCasca Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I don't have the stats, but from what I've seen, the crew is three guys. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I don't have the stats, but from what I've seen, the crew is three guys. If your goin by what you saw in the series, that's the original Mac II Quote
sidearmsalpha Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 In that pic, the Toynami looks too big to be 1/100. I don't see how more than one pilot in that scale would fit in the Konig. On the Konig, are those panels on that flap that goes over the head supposed to be windows? Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 (edited) lol sure of it. 2 pilots for mine. Yeah those window thinghys are part of the canopy. Never played the game (yet), so can someone look up the stats of the crew capacity? In the game i imagine your just the lone pilot, but maybe in the cut scenes or what not there may be a hint of a 2nd pilot/gunner. That's what i'd like to think. Unless your a bad ass pilot, to make use of all the weapon systems available '2' would be the go. Edited October 4, 2006 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
gian7675 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Here you go! Thanks! One more request, How about both in Plane mode? The Koenig Monster is smaller than the original Destroid Monster...but i didn't realize that it's this small. The PS VFX Ravens game Koenig Monster looked bigger. Quote
Damaramu Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I picked one up a few days ago. Overall, I like the toy. It's nice and posable and it's the perfect size for my computer desk. Now for some ranting and raving: Rave 1. Great posability! I really like the way the joints move! 2. Good proportions overall. The big shoulders don't bother me too much.. 3. Looks great in battroid and gerwalk modes. Tail fin a tad on the smallish side in fighter mode, but ok! 4. Heh, nice packaging Toynami! Rant 1. Floppy back pack in fighter and battroid modes. 2. Raised skull on the heat shield. 3. Decals are so-so. 4. Swing bars seem a little delicate. I'm afraid I might snap them accidentally. 5. Price could be cheaper. I bought mine for about $20. $15 would be a more ideal price or $20 w/ fast packs. Here's some pics of my Hikaru 1A. I used a mechanical pencil for the panel lining and added the decals. I didn't add the skull decals to the tail fins as there were too big and cheap looking. I'll need to trim those down later. Also, I thought the UN SPACY decal for the legs were too small so I just used the GU-11 decals in their place. I might pull those off....haven't quite decided. The flash of my camera faded some of the detail of the panel lining, so use your imagination. Overall, I thought it turned out well. Quote

You gave him Kakizaki's number (012), now he's gonna get shot down long before he gets to take on Boldoza j/k. Nice pics Quote
Retracting Head Ter Ter Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I saw this in the shops and was debating whether to get em or now. Then I saw the raised skull on the heatshield. Ugh!!! Quote

Nice pics Yeah, I realized that when I finished. Oops! Seriously though, I wouldn't mind buying a couple more. Maybe do some paint mods on 'em. Low viz? Angel birds? Oh yeah. I know they may be on the way in the future, but....I don't want to wait. I might buy new ones online, especially if they're cheaper. Quote

I was thinking it would be neat to see someone customize a few of these into the various Yamato non-cannon 1/48's (i.e. low viz 1, low viz 2, and stealth). I have no customizing skills, but I'd like to see someone else do it. We heard about wave 1 and 2 so long ago, but now that wave 1 is out and wave 2 should be out any day now, it's weird that we've heard nothing about any future waves. I'm getting worried that these didn't do well and the line may get dropped. I hope not. Quote

We can pick 'em up cheap and mod the heck out of them. I mean, look how badly Toynami did with their MPC's. I was finding them at Gamestop for $15-20 a pop. Quote

I have no customizing skills, but I'd like to see someone else do it. I made a quick custom and posted some horrible pictures back on page 19. {It was my first attempt at customization. Second attempt was repainting a 1/60 Roy Strike with gray over the yellow and making the strike armor gray too.} I thought about repainting that one in a low-vis scheme, since I just finished my first complete custom on a 1/60 hikaru vf-1a. I'll have to post some pics of the 1/60 low-vis I made {Third attempt, so it's not as good as the air-brushed 1/48's} I'll see what I can do with a repaint of the first one in the next couple of days. I pre-ordered a set of VF1Js and they should have shipped in September. ? And heck, if they end up getting sold off for cheap, great news. PS: I also wrote toynami about the crappy stands, and they said they'd send me replacement parts... which I'm still waiting for. It's been about two months. Quote

jodokast Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 (edited) Allright...here's a work in progress of a 1/100 low-vis paint scheme. I'm still working on it and need to apply the stickers, it's 95% complete. [attachmentid=37356] ==EDIT== {It seems to still be a little lacking in fighter mode.} [attachmentid=37357] **SIGH...if only the fastpacks were out, then it might actually look better.** Edited October 21, 2006 by jodokast Quote

jenius Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Don't forget folks, this is Toynami. The fact wave 1 made it out when it did is a miracle. It was Toynami's FIRST product that didn't suffer a SIX month delay or greater. That's not anti-Toynami ramblings, it's fact. Quote

A little constructive critisism: paint the visor green and fix the landing gear lights on the legs. Looks really great!! Quote
