Apollo Leader Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 (edited) Couldn't find the old thread, but here's an update on the Gundam fan who will be cosplaying his way into space as Char Aznable! http://uk.news.yahoo.com/14072006/323/japa...pace-dream.html But this guy's got nothing on me. I actually have my own Gundam rocket! After a year out of commission, I rebuilt the largest rocket in my fleet (Mobile Rocket Gundam). Besides rebuilding it to its previous configuration, I modified the rocket to take three additional motors. For its flight at LDRS 25 down in Texas a few weeks ago, I flew it with four motors: an L730 picked it up off the pad. 1/2 a second into flight, three I285 motors where simultaneously lit by two timers on board. The whole motor combination lifted this nearly 30 pound rocket to just over 6,400 feet... 1st time to officially break a mile, most powerful, and most complicated flight I've ever done. It gently landed over a mile away. It was easy to find out on that flat Texas grazing land. If I get a chance, I am wanting to start a "Macross and Anime Model Rockets" thread over in the model section when I sometime get a chance. Edited July 21, 2006 by Apollo Leader Quote
JELEINEN Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Great pics. If you guys shoot some of these things off locally some Sat. afternoon, let me know as I'd love to watch. Quote
Apollo Leader Posted July 21, 2006 Author Posted July 21, 2006 Jason, I think our next launch is the third Saturday next month. I'll give a heads up. For the heck of it, here was Macross Plus when I flew it on a single L730 motor two days later. Trying to figure out what to do so I can stick four more motor mounts in it! If I get around to it, I'm going to do an LDRS 25 thread. Quote
Apollo Leader Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 I don't have the link, but the guy cosplaying as Char who was going up to the International Space Station, had his flight into space canned due to health reasons, but whatever the problem is it isn't permanent so we might still see this uber Gundam fan go into space!
