GeneralMayhem Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 There are two different visors. The space helmet had a full faceplate. The air combat helmet only had a visor that covered the eyes, which was rarely seen except for the opening of the show. Quote

The air combat helmet only had a visor that covered the eyes, which was rarely seen except for the opening of the show. 427088 I agree that there's a huge difference between the look of the visor, but I always thought that it was anime magic that it became so huge in the space episodes, so they can show the pilot's expressions and mouth movements. Especially since they show connectors on the helmets when the chin guard isnt there... that's one thing I liked about the designs in Macross, everything was thought off so well. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 (edited) yeah i meant to say the opening credits type visor. I got confused there. man i can't wait!!!The visor is of interest to me, any news on how you will incorporate it GM? Will it slide down somehow? That would be filth! Hikaru never used it that much. 426899 the visor (in the TV series) was used in space along with the chin guard with the collars tucked in (air tight). In atmosphere, the visor was up and the chin guard is off and you see the big ass collars untucked. So he used the visor a lot if you think about it. 427078 Edited August 22, 2006 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 (edited) The visor will slide up into the helmet on the deluxe version. I plan to use military surplus visors, like you see on stock APH helmets. 426988 Thanks GM! Deluxe will be the way i will go for sure. Will there be a way we can engage/disengage the chin guard and slot in the deep-space visor perhaps? That would be great if the one mold/helm could do that! ruskiiVFaussie Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I'm considering that option. 427290 mateeeeeeeeeeeeee Can this be done whilst keeping both anime accurate? I'm lazy i need to check out the series again. Middle of moving will hamper that tho. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 (edited) hey GM i will check all me Macross art books an see if there are heaps of angles an so of the TV helm you got goin. Just gotta get the time! I'm sure the Goldy, and TV series book will have some good ones. Edited August 24, 2006 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
Knight26 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 So is there any progress to be seen on this yet? Quote
GeneralMayhem Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Have to get some orders for Dragon Con finished up first. Then I'll have more time to devote to it. I'm making a Star Trek TOS tunic for Vic Mignona, who's a friend of ours and is a big Trek fan. I may have him sign a helmet for my personal collection. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Oiii updates updates updates????! Quote

GeneralMayhem Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 this HAS to happen! coffer table diplay everyone! Gm, hope you can get the helm to display for atmosphere an space mode! Pleasepleaseplease If I sell enough of the standard version, I will definitely do the other variants as well. I'm also working on a custom display base that will be offered separately. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Righto, so are you still considering the option of attaching the chin guard and so? I am not interested in buying 2 separate helms unfortunately. But if there is a way we can buy the attachment at a later date then cool! When you get the time GM i'd love to see some more progress pics. My paypal trigger is itching to send the pre-order. But need to see some more pics. Quote
Godzilla Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) You guys... I cant wait to see how many of you all are gonna be Hikaru or Roy. Anyways, I think just having the helmet will be a big relief since Halloween is around the corner. All you need is the suit and prolly a shower minmay. As for wearing a helmet for outdoor vehicular activity, dont be moronic. Be smart and play it safe. We need you all to spread the fanbase of Macross, not decrease it... ruskiiVFaussie Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 My helm will be painted up Hikaru's style. Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 If my finances allow it, I'll have a standard Roy. Quote
EXO Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 So is it me or is this thread mis-titled? It's going to be a TV version helmet. Man I swear, I cant trust that hirohawa as far as I can throw him. Those japanese... so tricky... Quote

The Purifyer Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I'd definately be up for one of these. Most likely a TV style Rick Hunter helmet. or maybe a Roy TV one... ah decisions decisions. So how is the progress going anyways? Quote
GeneralMayhem Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I had to redo a mold for a star wars Royal Guard helmet, so I haven't been able to get it finished yet. Plus, we just did our first costume piece for a movie, so things have been very hectic over here. Don't worry, when you see the final piece, you're gonna be blown away! ~ GM Quote
The Purifyer Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Well I have seen you site I must say it's extremely exceptional stuff I can't wait but I guess I'll have to Quote

ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Ohh and costume piece for a movie hey Gm?? Wow, big time stuff ??? Congrats! I also seen your site, had a big look, you deserve every bit of recognition! Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) Dear GM (santa), please make it possible for the chin guard and a space visor to attach to your first release of the TV helm at a later date, if you decide it's possible to make way for it in a future project. Yours sincerely, ruskiiVFaussie *you can't believe how excited i am of this project! I was almost gonna buy this sweet as resin painted up model, but nuh, saving money. nemesis_trooper Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Woah...have been searching for a Macross 1:1 helmet for the longest time! Definitely put me down for a Deepspace Hikaru DYRL...if it looks as good at the Yamato one (and is a fraction of the cost) Maybe a good idea would be (as suggested already) having a 2 part helmet (both deepspace and non deepspace). Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Yus, TV Helm with attachable Deepspace visor and chin guard. I'm saving up gatherin the pennies, hope this won't vaporize on us. Quote
GeneralMayhem Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Not a chance. No matter how busy we get, we produce every item we announce. Quote
Mechamaniac Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Hey, GM..got any pics thus far? People around here just LOVE to see pre-production and build up pics. Of course, then you will have the inevitable "umm, that's a millimeter off" comments, but still, pics! Quote
Dante74 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Something is a millimeter off?! Where...where?!?! Quote
GeneralMayhem Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Still running a bit behind after having to take some time off for medical reasons. I will definately keep you posted. Quote
