Sumdumgai Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) You're mad gobotfool! Mad I tell you! Unless you mean a Low vis v2... Well I'll sacrifice 100 virgin cosplayers, a box of Men's pocky, a 6-pack of heineken beer, and my sister to the great tentacled one for the VF-4 (man that sounds WRONG). addition: AAAAH! I almost went mad looking at the YF-19 lineart! I can't wait to see a prototype! If the 19 is done as well as we all hope for, then I'm hoping they'll redo the 21, and the 11. Edited June 23, 2006 by Sumdumgai
RT junkie Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I'll sacrifice my bank account!!! ....... oh yeah, I already did that with all the VF-1s .
GobotFool Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) I will show evidence of my dedication to the cause this weekend... be warned, these picture are not for the squemish toy collector. Edited June 23, 2006 by GobotFool
TheLoneWolf Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 While I can't talk about specific features of this toy, I can go over the CAD lineart drawing and point out improvements that we can obviously see on the lineart, compared to the 1/72 version, which no one seems to have done yet:-[*]The shoulders of the 1/60 in fighter mode sit much lower, making the plane more streamlined, compared to the 1/72, where the shoulders were too high up. 410457 I agree that all the improvements you've mentioned are whole heartedly welcome, but I see the lowered sholders as a blemish. In battroid mode, the shoulds are raised, in my opinion resulting in a more beefy look. But in the CAD lineart, they appear droopy. This was done, naturally, to accentuate fighter mode at the cost of battroid mode. The droopy battroid shoulders bring back memories of the horrid Retpuu YF-19 and I was glad to see that no other company followed the tradition of droopy shoulders, up until now. Here's a pic of the shoulders from the anime. And here's the CAD lineart. The shoulders are already slightly protruding in fighter mode, I think Yamato could definitely raise them a little more so that they're level with the canopy. To me, it's a cosmetic fix that Yamato could easily do without compromising transformation or infrastructure.
kensei Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) Can those shoulders be angled slightly upwards like a Gundam? If you can tell Yamato to make the wings more alrger, I'll be mucho impressed. I think that a larger wingspan makes the YF-19 look like that, simply magnificent. Any chance we'll get a heavy weapons module accessory with this? And will one of the features be internal missile bays? Edited June 23, 2006 by kensei
Fly4victory Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Will the 1/60 VF-1’s increase in popularity, since there are the 1/60 Q-Rau Millia and Max, VF-0S, soon to be VF-0A and YF-19? Especially considering that the two-seater VF-1’s are only available in 1/60. How important is the same scale to other collectors?
kensei Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Don't know, but not to me. Anything that is about the length of 30 cm in battroid height or fighter mode length is workable for Yamato to make it perfect transformation while keeping it within a reasonable size. Hence why most of the transforming stuff is around that scale I reckon, even the Konig Monster. In fact, the Konig Monster was even shorter than the 1/48 VF-1.
do not disturb Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 haha! only on MW does a new toy release turn into a yamato request thread. i don't know about you dudes but all the requests for light up fold boosters and other non essentials details will only increase the price of this toy but i guess the price is another thing we can complain about after we get what we want. seriously, i'm just glad that yamato came through with the goods after all this time. beefy, skinney, long, short, as long as its more durable/detailed than the 1/72 version, i'll be happy with it.
JKeats Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) Awesome. Oh, and good scoop, Wolfx! Edited June 23, 2006 by JKeats

Apollo Leader Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 This is aweome news! Hopefully the VF-11 and YF-21 get the same treatment. The VF-11 really needs a bigger better toy so Yamato can get the tail fins done right.
GobotFool Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) A comparison of YF-19 lineart with the YF-19 CAD drawing.YF-19 Lineart http://www3.telus.net/amdaddict/YF-19_Batt...tView_Small.jpg YF-19 CAD Drawing http://www3.telus.net/amdaddict/Yamato_YF-...-60ScaleCAD.jpg 410573 Wow, I forgot how beefy the 19 is actully supposed to be. though I guess you can't have a nice sleak jet and a beefy battroid at the same time. I'll survive. From the looks of these CAD drawings it still looks 100x better than the 1/72. Please don't quote large pics, especially when the thread is already gigantic and full of pics. Nani?! Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I really like the yamato version. There's a considerable amount of anime magic and distortion for the yf-19 in the anime so considering yamato had to make something that looked good without the benefit of removing parts etc, I think it's a great effort. One key element of the yf-19 design that I do miss from the yamato design however, is the curvature of the underside of the neck in fighter mode. I guess it was for the sake of the landing gear, but the yamato design does away with the neck completely. The tail fins also look a bit small no? Anyway it's clear yamato was juggling to please both fans of battroid yf-19 and fighter yf-19, but I think the balance is about right, with each side with a fair share of sacrifice. And Graham, please be sure to pass on to yamato a collective applause, they're making this hobby FUN again~.
nightmareB4macross Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 The old Bandai 1/65 VF-19S/Kai had extremely bad proportions, simplified transformation and limited articulation Graham Is this prelude of what's to come.
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) I wonder how this will look next to the LS? That thing was pretty skinny but I kinda liked it. (even if the battroid risked looking like a girl mech with a pointy breast) Must be a reaction to the days when chunky munky were the dominant apes, so as the valks got more evolved over time they became more agile and streamlined to increase thier abilty to fly to survive against the others. ^ If they can make these complex yf19 valkyries in 1/100 scale, toynami can sure as hell try to make similarly sized alpha and beta fighters.. (and please make them cheap and able to assemble/disassemble so we can replace a broken damaged piece when it eventually breaks like the banprestos) Edited June 23, 2006 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker
Crazy Canuck II Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I can honestly confirm with whole-hearted sincerity that I have absolutely no idea whether Yamato has a D-Stance YF-21 or not.Graham 410503 Damn!... Ok, but do they know of it's existence? Do you know if they've at least seen pictures of it? I'm just curious if Yamato knows how high the bar is on the YF-21. Ok, I understand The D"stancE is a resin kit and a toy will have to be more robust blah blah blah . And Yamato my not give a damn about the D"StancE kit, but considering The D"stancE is a 1/72 scale custom kit made by one guy (AFAIK), I hope Yamato knows it has it's work cut out for it. That is if they're going to make a 1/60 YF-21. Which I'm sure most of us are betting they will
GobotFool Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I suppose they scrapped it for the same reason the 1/100 VF-0 was scrapped, figured, lets skip the crap and move right onto a larger more impressive mold cause we know our loyal macross valkaholics will buy it not matter what?
Fort Max Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 What scale was it to be WolfX? Looks pretty good to me, legs are certainly very nice. The scared line art may portray them a little on the chunky side but I prefer them thinner given how fast and agile this thing is in the show. btw, Those missiles that shoot out if it's legs in ep4, weren't those in the fast packs?
eugimon Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 yeah, those missiles launch out from the fast packs. I wonder if that detail will be included in the FP or not.. since to my eye it looks like there is some anime magic there with the size of the missile compared to the FP.
Sumdumgai Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) Nani does bring up a good point, I will miss the thin curved belly of the YF-19, but damn does it still look good anyway! edit: for spelling Edited June 23, 2006 by Sumdumgai

e_jacob77 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Hi all, I don't think this was mentioned, but Graham is there any talk about this in any of the mags you post in the mags section? The article had to come from somewheres?? hehe......
valk1j Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Yes, I've been waiting for this. I can't wait to see some prototype pics of this baby, though I hope they make that gunpod bigger. I guess this means Yamato still has the Mac+ license.
KiriK Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 wow... 11 pages in 2 days.... must be some kinda excitement goin on around here..haha.... guess i haven't been appreciative of the 19 so i guess i'll have to wait to see one to get all gung ho about it.... sigh... but i will be poor....
