Noob Question

Was there or is there a Macross movie or series that takes place a few years before the OG series. Where I think Roy Fokker was the main character. I remember reading about it but never found anything on it.

That would be Macross Zero. It's only five episodes, but it's worth a look just for the awesome mech designs.
